Chapter 562 Defending
As soon as Seb stepped into the living room, Rylee greeted him with a smile, "Seb, when did you get back?"
Seeing Rylee, Seb replied expressionlessly, "Just got off the plane."
"Mom." Seb called out to Carol, who was sitting on the sofa.
Carol glanced at Seb and sneered. "You and Susan came one after the other, did you plan this together?"
Hearing this, Seb hesitated for a moment and replied, "I did run into Susan just now, but I haven't been in touch with her for many days."
Carol didn't respond to Seb but threw a court summons on the coffee table. "Take a look. Your father has already filed for divorce."
Seb stepped forward, picked up the summons, glanced at it, and frowned.
Carol then said, "Seb, I want to know your stance on this matter."
Seeing Carol's eyes fixed on him, Seb pursed his lips and said, "Mom, this is between you and Dad. As much as Rylee and I hate to see you go through this, it's your marriage. Your decision. We just want you both to be happy."
"He's flaunting his infidelity with your mother-in-law, and you think I can be happy?" Carol shouted hysterically.
"Mom, I believe this is just a coincidence. As for what you said about Susan having any ulterior motives, I don't believe it. She's not that kind of person!" Seb said firmly.
Hearing this, Carol became even angrier and pointed towards the door. "Get out, just pretend I never had a son like you!"
"Mom." Seb frowned deeply.
"I don't want to see you ever again!" Carol angrily got up and went back to her bedroom.
A moment later, Rylee stepped forward to comfort him, "Seb, Mom's been in a bad mood these past few days. Give her some time; she'll come around."
Seb nodded, turned to leave, but then suddenly turned back and asked Rylee, "Did Mom hit Susan?"
Hearing this, Rylee lowered her head, running her hand through her hair, looking embarrassed.
"I'm asking you a question." Seb frowned.
"It wasn't Mom who hit her, it was me." Rylee suddenly mustered the courage to answer.
Hearing this, Seb was stunned for a moment, then said unhappily, "She's your sister-in-law after all. How could you hit her?"
"She deserved it!" Rylee burst out, her eyes flashing. "That woman is poison! She tried to turn Andrew against me, and I know she's behind all of this with her mother! She's playing you, Seb! Don't you see?"
Seb didn't want to listen anymore. "Enough!"
Seb's voice was a bit loud, and Rylee immediately didn't dare to speak. Although Seb had always doted on her since childhood, he was also often strict with her, so she was quite afraid of him.
Seb was a bit angry but tried to control his emotions. "Rylee, no one knows Susan better than I do. She's definitely not that kind of person! Mom is hurting, and she's lashing out, but you're letting her poison your mind. You need to see reason."
Rylee felt very wronged and said, "Seb, I'm telling the truth. At first, I also thought Susan was innocent, but she definitely tried to drive a wedge between Andrew and me. I have no reason to lie to you."
Hearing this, Seb frowned and asked, "Then tell me, how did Susan try to drive a wedge between you and Andrew?"
For a moment, Rylee was at a loss for words.
She didn't want anyone to know about her infertility, so she didn't want to tell Seb.
Then, Rylee asked, "Didn't she tell you anything about me?"
"About what?" Seb asked, puzzled.
At this point, Rylee was sure that Susan hadn't told Seb about her infertility, so she didn't want to reveal it either.
"Oh, nothing. I thought she might have badmouthed me in front of you." Rylee said evasively.
Seeing that Rylee couldn't give a reason, Seb said unhappily, "Rylee, Susan is my wife, and I'm your elder brother. I hope you can respect her in the future. This time, I'll let it go because you were being immature, but if it happens again, I won't let it slide!"
Hearing this, Rylee felt extremely wronged, and tears welled up in her eyes.
Then, Seb turned and left.
Just as he stepped out of the villa, Andrew walked up to him.
Seeing Andrew, Seb frowned.
"Seb, you're back?" Andrew was initially surprised to see Seb, then greeted him with a big smile.
Seb, however, kept a cold face and said, "I heard you've been unusually active while I was away from the company."
Hearing this, Andrew's face became a bit unnatural, and he said, "Seb, Mom asked me to keep an eye on things while you were away. Now that you're back, I can relax."
"Mom has willed her shares to Rylee, but that doesn't mean you're the owner of Prosperity Group. You need to remember that. Of course, if you have real talent and can handle the tasks at Prosperity Group, I won't oppose it." After saying this, Seb turned and left.
Watching Seb's departing figure, Andrew's eyes turned sinister.
When Andrew walked into the villa, he saw Rylee sitting in the living room, looking dejected.
Seeing this, he walked over, sat beside her, and asked with concern, "What's wrong? Who upset you?"
Seeing Andrew, Rylee said aggrievedly, "Susan came by just now, and I slapped her out of anger. Seb found out and warned me that if it happens again, he won't let me off."
Hearing this, Andrew's eyes flickered. He said, "Seb cares about you the most, right? I think he was just saying that."
"Just saying that? You didn't see how serious he was just now. It's like Susan is more important than all of us." Rylee pouted.
At this point, Andrew seemed to be talking to himself, "I ran into Seb when I came back just now. He did seem very serious and even warned me not to have any delusions about Prosperity Group."
"What did Seb mean by that?" Rylee immediately asked, staring at Andrew.
"I don't understand either. It seems he's wary of me, thinking I might compete with him for the company." Andrew said, feigning innocence.
Hearing this, Rylee said, "It must be that woman stirring things up. She's really a troublemaker!"
