Chapter 448 Shouldn't You Explain This to Me?

Susan scrunched up her face and said, "George, what's the point of all this now? I'm happy with Seb, and you've got Jessica."

"I'm only with Jessica 'cause I settled," George shot back.

Susan's jaw dropped. "George, I thought you were the kind of guy who took feelings seriously."

George leaned against the wall, took a deep breath, and said, "Without you, anyone else is just a compromise."

Susan opened her mouth but couldn't find the words.

"As long as you're happy, that's all I care about. I've just been thinking about you a lot lately," George said, looking at her.

Susan frowned. "Stop thinking about me. I'll be fine."

George got worked up and grabbed her shoulders. "Can you not be so heartless? I just want to miss you. Is that so wrong?"

"George," Susan tried to snap him out of it. What was the point of thinking about someone when there was no future?

Just then, the door to the banquet hall flew open!

Two people walked in. Seb, in a black suit, led the way, with Jessica right behind him.

Seeing George's hands on Susan's shoulders, Seb's face darkened.

"George, Susan, what are you doing?" Jessica yelled.

George and Susan turned to look at her.

Susan saw Seb and Jessica standing there, freaked out, and pushed George's hands away, stepping back.

George, seeing Seb and Jessica, stayed cool and let go.

Susan walked over to Seb, feeling all sorts of conflicted, wondering if he'd get the wrong idea.

Jessica looked at Susan and asked, "Susan, what are you doing here with George? Seb and I have been looking for you two."

Susan saw Jessica's innocent, surprised look.

But Susan knew Jessica was blowing things out of proportion. No wonder she thought Susan was always a problem between her and George. She wanted to make Seb misunderstand.

But Susan didn't back down. She stood tall and said, "I went to the restroom and ran into George on my way back. We chatted for a bit, and then you showed up."

Susan's words were aimed at Jessica, but her eyes were on Seb, explaining with her gaze. She was steady, not afraid of Jessica's games.

"Quite the coincidence. Just chatting, and he had to hold your shoulders? You should know you are cousins-in-law, not strangers," Jessica's tone turned nasty.

Susan really wanted to snap. Jessica was clearly trying to stir up trouble between her and George.

"Have you said enough? Shut up already!" George snapped at Jessica, his face dark with anger.

"I'm just stating the facts. Did I say anything wrong?" Jessica shot back, her eyes boring into George.

George looked like he was about to explode, his brows knitted tightly.

Seb suddenly turned to Jessica and said, "Jessica, if you and George have issues, sort them out at home. Don't drag my wife into it!"

Jessica sneered, "Mr. Seb Anderson, you're the most cultured guy I've ever met. Your wife is about to cheat, and you're not even mad. Are you even a man?"

Susan couldn't believe her ears. Jessica, who she thought was all about work and professionalism, was now stirring up drama like this. Susan felt like Jessica had changed, even her appearance seemed harsher.

Susan glanced at Seb, feeling anxious, wondering if he'd blow up after hearing Jessica's words.

Seb warned Jessica in a stern voice, "Jessica, I could sue you for what you just said! You're George's girlfriend. I'll give you one chance. Remember, if there's a next time, I won't let it slide!"

With that, Seb grabbed Susan's hand and started walking towards the banquet hall.

Susan, still in shock, followed Seb.

When they reached the door, Seb suddenly stopped, and Susan almost bumped into him.

Seb steadied Susan, then turned to the stunned Jessica, "I forgot to tell you; I trust my wife completely. She'd never betray me! I think you and George lack basic trust. Just because they talked, you assume they're having an affair. That's really something."

Jessica's face turned pale, her hands clenched into fists, but she couldn't say a word.

Seb looked at George and said, "George, as your cousin, I don't want this woman as my cousin-in-law. She's not right for you. I've said my piece. Excuse us!"

With that, Seb pulled Susan away.

Susan was stunned. When they got back to the banquet hall, she looked back and saw George's conflicted expression, while Jessica looked utterly defeated.

Suddenly, Susan felt a wave of relief!

She glanced at Seb secretly, thinking he was really handsome and cool. She was falling for him even more.

Back in the banquet hall, Susan walked to the long dining table, grabbed a plate, and used tongs to snag a piece of tiramisu, then started eating!

After a couple of bites, Susan looked up at Seb and smiled. "This tiramisu is legit. Want a piece?"

Seb frowned and said irritably, "You still have the mood to eat cake? Shouldn't you explain what just happened?"
