Chapter 1195 Stepping into the Boyfriend Role
"Hey, put me down, I'm dizzy!" Cecilia, who was feeling extremely dizzy, clung to Barry's neck and said.
"Sorry." Barry quickly put her down, but his hands remained wrapped around her waist.
With her feet back on the ground, Cecilia didn't know where to place her hands, so she put them on Barry's shoulders.
Barry was tall, 15 inches taller than Daryl. She felt she had to look up to see his face.
"So, from now on, you're my girlfriend?" Barry asked excitedly.
Cecilia nodded. "If you don't mind."
Barry frowned and said, "Why would I mind?"
"I was pregnant before."
Barry said seriously, "I don't want to talk about that again. It's all in the past. We need to focus on the future, okay?"
Cecilia nodded.
Daryl had been sitting in the car for almost half an hour, but Barry still hadn't come down.
Douglas, sitting in the driver's seat, didn't dare to make a sound.
After a while, Daryl glanced at Cecilia's window with a cold look and suddenly said, "Let's go!"
Douglas was stunned for a moment, then started the engine.
The kitchen light was a bit dim. Barry looked down at the blushing Cecilia, finding her more and more lovable.
The kitchen was really small. In this cramped space, they were awkwardly close, their breaths coming in quick bursts.
He slowly lowered his head, trying to touch her lips with his own.
Just as their lips were about to touch, Cecilia suddenly lowered her head and pressed her face against Barry's chest!
She heard his heartbeat, and also her own.
Although Barry didn't kiss Cecilia, he was still extremely happy.
His hands held her tightly. Even this hug was something he had dreamed of.
He knew he couldn't rush things; he needed to win her heart first.
Cecilia deliberately avoided Barry's kiss because she was not used to another man kissing her.
Leaning in his arms, Cecilia smelled Barry's scent, which she found very unfamiliar. But she told herself that maybe she would get used to it after a few more times.
Cecilia didn't expect to suddenly accept Barry today, but she genuinely accepted him and hoped to develop a good relationship with him. Although she knew she hadn't completely let go of Daryl, she would try to move on and be with Barry.
After Barry left, Cecilia leaned tiredly against the headboard, feeling like she was dreaming.
Late at night, Daryl and George sat at the bar of a pub.
"Give me a whiskey!" Daryl said to the bartender.
"Just give him a glass of water!" George quickly told the bartender.
The bartender was a bit confused, and George immediately said, "Listen to me, I'll pay."
The bartender quickly put down the bottle and turned to get some water.
Daryl said irritably, "I asked you to drink with me, not to control me!"
"If I don't look after you and something happens, how can I explain it to your family?" George said, taking the warm water from the bartender and placing it in front of Daryl.
Daryl had no choice but to pick up the water and drink it all in one go.
"Did you get hurt by Cecilia again?" George asked.
Daryl said dejectedly, "She is in a relationship with someone else."
"That's normal. You can't expect her to wait for you forever. A woman's youth is only a few years; she can't waste it."
Daryl glanced at George and said, "Yeah, so you just have to watch the person you love to date someone else, marry someone else, have kids with someone else, and live happily ever after with someone else!"
George pursed his lips and then downed a whole glass of whiskey.
Daryl's words hit George's sore spot. Over the years, he had watched Susan and Seb date, get married, and have kids one after another.
Seeing George's grim expression, Daryl knew he had gone too far and patted his shoulder hard. "Sorry!"
"It's okay, you're right. But she doesn't love me. If she did, I would do anything for her," George said, looking at Daryl.
"Cecilia doesn't love me anymore either. She must be in love with Barry now," Daryl said dejectedly.
"If it's meant to be, it will be. If not, there's no point in forcing it," George said.
Daryl stared at the glass in his hand and said, "Susan is destined not to be yours, and my Cecilia is about to become someone else's."
George reached for the bottle and poured another glass, then drank it all in one go.
The next morning, as soon as Cecilia went downstairs, she saw Barry standing there.
"What are you doing here?" Cecilia asked, feeling a bit shy.
Last night, after he hugged her, they sat on the couch and talked for a while before Barry left.
Cecilia had wanted him to leave but was too embarrassed to say so. Barry seemed to sense her concern and left considerately.
Barry was always like this, never forcing her to do anything she didn't want to do. She found him very thoughtful. Maybe that's why she saw him as a good friend but never felt that spark.
Cecilia told herself that the best relationships are built on mutual respect and trust, and they could develop feelings over time.
"I came to give you a ride to work. I got you a sandwich," Barry said, holding up a lunchbox.
Cecilia took the sandwich from him and frowned slightly. She didn't like sandwiches, but she didn't say anything and smiled. "Mornings are busy; you don't need to give me a ride. I can take the bus."
Barry didn't mind and opened the passenger door for her, saying, "It's on my way, it won't take much time. Besides, I finally have a girlfriend, let me play the part, okay?"
