Chapter 154 To Get An Explanation

Seeing Susan sitting there like a fool, Isabella quickly grabbed her shoulders.

"Susan, snap out of it. I'm worried. Say something!"

Susan turned to Isabella, looking lost. "What do you think he means by this? This morning he said he wanted to register our marriage, and now, just a few hours later, he's changed. Why is he like this? What's going on?"

Isabella sighed, "Susan, wake up. Maybe we were wrong from the start. You thought Seb would fall in love with you and cherish you, but we forgot our place. We're just ordinary people. Even if Seb liked you, it was just for fun. Thinking he'd actually marry you was just wishful thinking!"

Isabella's words hit Susan hard. She cried out, "He doesn't have to marry me or love me, but why did he deceive me?"

Susan clenched her fists and pounded on the iron bench.

Isabella quickly hugged the agitated Susan, trying to comfort her. "Susan, guys like Seb, who are rich, are just momentarily interested. He can mistreat you, but you can't mistreat yourself. Forget about him. From now on, we'll live our lives as if he never existed."

Susan hugged Isabella and cried, tears streaming down her cheeks.

Isabella, unsure what to say, simply held Susan and patted her back.

With tear-filled eyes, Susan's mind kept flashing back to the days she spent with Seb.

Finally, her eyes fell on the ring on her left hand. Her vision was blurred by tears, but the memories were still vivid.

Then, Susan suddenly lifted her head from Isabella's embrace and shook her head. "I don't believe this is true. It can't be that simple!"

Isabella wiped Susan's tears with a tissue and said, "This is the reality. What more do you need to believe it?"

"I need to ask him in person. He at least owes me an explanation!" Susan said stubbornly.

Isabella sighed, "Seb isn't at the office right now. He should be with Cynthia. How about I go with you to find him and see what he has to say?"

"Isabella, thank you," Susan nodded.

Isabella sighed again, "We're friends. You don't need to thank me. I'll go with you. I want to see how Seb explains himself. You won't give up until you see it with your own eyes!"

"I need to get to the bottom of this," Susan muttered, frowning.

Then, Susan took out her phone. After hesitating for a moment, she dialed Seb's number.

The phone rang a dozen times. Just as Susan was about to hang up, someone answered.

"Hello?"

Seb's deep voice came from the other end, and Susan's heart leaped into her throat.

The call fell into silence. Neither of them spoke, but both felt the tension.

In that moment of silence, Susan faced reality. Seb no longer belonged to her, and maybe he never did.

"Where are you? I need to see you now!" Susan swallowed all her other words and just said this.

Seb hesitated, then replied, "I'm at home. Come over."

Susan could hear the detachment in his voice, which stung her heart. She hung up the phone resolutely.

"How did it go?" Isabella asked, concerned.

"He asked me to come to his house," Susan replied, looking pale.

"I'll go with you," Isabella offered.

"No, I'll go alone," Susan declined.

"No, I must go with you. Cynthia might be there, and you'll be at a disadvantage if you're alone," Isabella insisted.

Isabella's words reminded Susan that Cynthia might indeed be at Seb's house.

Susan nodded, and Isabella called a cab. Susan, looking lost, got into the car with Isabella, heading to Seb's house.

Isabella accompanied Susan to Seb's doorstep.

Looking at the closed door, Susan felt a bit scared. She was afraid of what she would do if Cynthia was there. Her heart ached.

Isabella seemed to sense her concern and said, "We're already here. Let's face it."

With that, Isabella pressed the doorbell for Susan.

Soon, someone came to open the door.

Kathy opened the door and was surprised to see Susan standing outside.

"Ms. Wilson, you're here?" Kathy glanced inside, looking a bit troubled.

"We're here to see Seb," Isabella said, pulling Susan past Kathy and into the house.

Entering Seb's house, which she hadn't been to in a long time, Susan noticed that the carpet, curtains, and all the furnishings were just as she had left them, unchanged.

Seeing everything she had arranged, Susan felt mixed emotions and her eyes welled up.

At that moment, the sound of high heels approached.

Susan turned to see Cynthia, dressed elegantly, walking out from the direction of the bedroom.

Although she had been mentally prepared, seeing Cynthia in Seb's house still stunned Susan.

Seeing Susan's blank stare, Cynthia's lips curled into a smug smile.

"Ms. Wilson, I admire your courage. Given the situation, you still come here. I really underestimated your persistence."

Susan felt a sharp pain in her heart. She had no mood to argue with Cynthia.

"Where's Seb? I want to see him!" Susan said coldly.

Cynthia crossed her arms and said, "Susan, if I were you, I'd leave. Seb doesn't want to see you. You're just humiliating yourself!"

Susan ignored Cynthia's mocking and turned to go inside, but Cynthia immediately blocked her way.

"What do you think you're doing?" Cynthia said aggressively.

"Seb, come out!" Susan shouted towards the bedroom, pushing past Cynthia.

Seeing this, Isabella quickly stepped forward, pushed Cynthia aside, and pointed at her, saying, "This isn't your house. Do you really need to be so harsh? Even if you and Seb are getting married, you're not the lady of the house yet!"
