Chapter 359 Too Ashamed to Face Anyone
Susan woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside her window.
She cracked open her sleepy eyes and took in the fancy decor and furniture around her, instantly remembering last night's events.
She quickly turned her head, but Seb was already gone, leaving behind only the messy sheets and a pillow that still smelled like him.
Thank goodness he wasn't there; Susan had no idea how she'd face him after last night's awkwardness.
Then she noticed the wall clock—it was already nine!
Oh crap! She was gonna be late for work.
Susan shot up in bed.
She glanced down at her naked body under the covers, grabbed the towel from the floor, wrapped it around herself, and headed to the bathroom. But after searching for a while, she couldn't find the clothes she had changed out of after her shower last night.
Where the heck were her clothes? How could they just disappear? What was she supposed to wear to work?
Just as she was starting to freak out, she spotted a handbag on the bathroom sink with a note on it.
Curious, Susan grabbed the note and read it. The handwriting was bold and a bit cocky; she knew it was Seb's.
[I had Kathy take your clothes to be washed. Wear the clothes in the handbag for today.]
Susan put down the note and pulled out a silk dress from the handbag. It was stylish, high-quality, and super elegant.
Along with it was a set of leopard-print lingerie, so skimpy it made her blush just looking at it.
She tossed the skimpy lingerie back into the handbag with a huff.
She recognized the dress and lingerie as the ones Seb had the department store clerk deliver last time.
Seb was clearly messing with her, wanting her to wear such revealing lingerie. Just thinking about it made her mad!
She suddenly remembered buying Seb a pair of leopard-print underwear before. So, this was his payback.
Annoyed but out of options, Susan knew she couldn't go out without wearing lingerie.
She put on the leopard-print lingerie and looked at herself in the mirror, feeling utterly embarrassed. She looked anything but respectable.
But thankfully, it was just lingerie. Once she put on the dress, she looked completely different from the suggestive image earlier.
Without wasting any more time, Susan quickly washed up, grabbed her bag, and rushed downstairs.
By this time, Kathy had already taken Hayden to preschool, and Mary was holding Spring, feeding her breakfast.
Spring saw Susan and sweetly called out, "Mommy," waving her little hand.
Susan walked over, lovingly patted Spring's head, and then smiled at Mary. "Mary, is Spring okay now?"
"She's fine. After she finishes her breakfast, I'll give her some medicine. It's probably just a little cold," Mary replied.
Susan nodded and said, "Thanks. I'm running late for work. I gotta go!"
Hearing this, Mary frowned and glanced at the breakfast on the table. "You haven't had breakfast yet."
Susan turned and walked out, saying, "No time. I'm already late!"
"Ms. Wilson." Just as Susan was about to reach the foyer, Mary called out to her.
Thinking Mary needed something, Susan turned and looked at her with a frown.
Mary, however, smiled and looked Susan up and down. "Ms. Wilson, you look beautiful today!"
Hearing this, Susan felt a bit embarrassed, blushed, and touched her hair. "Thanks!"
With that, Susan turned and left.
By the time Susan rushed into Pioneer Accounting Firm, it was almost ten.
Sitting at her desk, Susan was fuming. Since starting here, she had never been late.
So right now, Susan was cursing Seb in her head. If it weren't for him, she wouldn't have woken up so late!
Leaning back in her chair, Susan felt both tired and hungry as her stomach growled.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
Susan quickly sat up straight and called out, "Come in!"
The door opened, and Ingrid walked in.
Ingrid placed a takeout breakfast on Susan's desk and smiled. "Ms. Wilson, the delivery guy just brought this breakfast for you."
Glancing at the takeout breakfast on her desk, Susan frowned. "I didn't order breakfast."
Ingrid paused for a moment, then her eyes fixed on Susan's neck. She smirked and said, "Ms. Wilson, it must be from your admirer. Maybe he was worried you hadn't eaten breakfast and would be hungry."
Hearing this, Susan kept a straight face and said, "Thanks, Ingrid."
At this point, Susan'd already known who had ordered the breakfast for her.
"Then I'll get back to work," Ingrid said, covering her mouth as she left.
After the door closed, Susan stared at the takeout breakfast for a few seconds. Still frustrated, she didn't want to eat the breakfast Seb had ordered.
However, her stomach was growling incessantly. Susan told herself, 'Just see what the breakfast is before making a decision.'
Seeing the delicious food, Susan couldn't hold back any longer and started eating it in big bites.
After eating half of the food, Susan suddenly remembered Ingrid's smirk when she saw her neck.
Susan immediately put down her food, stood up, and walked to the bookshelf. She took out a small mirror from a drawer.
In the mirror, Susan saw several bright red hickeys on her neck.
It shocked Susan. She blamed herself for leaving in such a hurry this morning that she hadn't noticed the marks on her body.
Pulling down her collar, Susan saw that her chest was covered in bright red hickeys. These marks reminded her of last night's passion, making her face flush with heat.
Damn Seb, he made her lose face in front of her colleagues.
Susan knew that Ingrid had a big mouth. She didn't even need to think to know that the news of the hickeys on her neck had probably spread throughout Pioneer Accounting Firm by now.
She was too embarrassed to face anyone!
