Chapter 517 Sarcasm

When Isabella heard that, she cracked up and said, "I thought you two partied too hard last night and wouldn't be up 'til noon!"

"Your mind's always in the gutter," Susan sighed, shaking her head.

"By the way, you still haven't spilled the good news," Susan nudged.

Isabella finally grinned and said, "I bought some home gadgets, and the store had a raffle. They just called and said I hit the jackpot!"

Susan's jaw dropped. "No way, you're so lucky! Spill it, what's the grand prize?"

"An eight-day free trip to Averlake," Isabella's voice was buzzing with excitement.

"Get outta here! To Averlake? I'm heading there for my honeymoon tomorrow. Since it's such a crazy coincidence, you should book a flight for tomorrow too, and we can go together," Susan said, a bit taken aback.

"But if we both go, what about the office?" Isabella fretted on the other end.

Susan thought for a sec and said, "The office hasn't got any big projects lately, so let's leave Maria in charge. You've been busting your butt since we started the office, so take a break. When we get back, we'll grind together again!"

"That's awesome," Isabella was so pumped she almost jumped up.

Then Susan chuckled and said, "But there's one thing I gotta tell you upfront."

"What's that?" Isabella asked, curious.

Susan then said, "Leon will be tagging along to Averlake with us."

Isabella went silent for a bit before groaning, "Why do I have to bump into him everywhere?"

"If you don't wanna see Leon, you can change your plans."

Before Susan could finish, Isabella cut her off. "Why should I change my plans because of him? Am I scared of him? I'll just act like he's invisible."

"Is it that bad? Didn't you used to like Leon? Why are you two beefing now? By the way, I heard you two arguing yesterday. What was that about?" Susan asked.

Thinking about yesterday still made Isabella fume. "Leon called me an old maid. What business is it of his? If I'm an old maid, so what? He's so great, but he's still single too."

"Alright, chill out. Didn't you say you'd treat him like air from now on? Okay, I gotta go. I'm almost home, and I need to pack. The kids, Mary, and Kathy are all coming, so it's like moving house," Susan said.

"Then I'll go pack too. Later!" Isabella then hung up.

Early the next morning, Seb and Susan's crew rolled into the airport's waiting hall.

Isabella, dragging a suitcase, was already there.

Today, she was rocking a denim jacket and a denim baseball cap, looking super casual and youthful, not at all like someone over thirty.

"Isabella!" Susan spotted her and dashed over, grinning from ear to ear.

Trailing behind, Kathy was holding Hayden's hand, Mary was pushing a stroller with Spring in it, Leon was lugging a cart full of bags, and Seb was strolling next to him.

Leon saw Isabella and scowled. "Mr. Anderson, why is Miss Brown here? Is she here to see us off?"

Seb chuckled. "Isabella's coming to Averlake with us."

Leon was floored. "She's tagging along on your honeymoon to Averlake?"

"Yup," Seb nodded.

Leon immediately frowned harder.

Isabella, true to her word, acted like Leon was invisible, not even glancing his way.

Leon, not one to be outdone, ignored her right back, and they didn't exchange a single word.

Once on the plane, Seb and Susan cozied up together, fingers intertwined.

Susan looked at the kids in front and leaned happily on Seb's shoulder. "I wish our family of four could always be together."

Seb looked down at her. "Of course, we'll always be together."

Susan smiled. "God, our happiness didn't come easy."

She got a bit emotional, thinking about the tough past five years. But seeing her happy family now, it all felt worth it.

A while later, a sleepy Susan opened her eyes and noticed Leon and Isabella were seated next to each other. She whispered, "I think they have quite a connection, their seats are next to each other."

Seb's eyes twinkled, and he whispered back, "I think they have a shot at being together."

Susan perked up, curious. "They can't stand each other. How could they have a chance to be together?"

"Trust me, I'm good at reading people. They'll definitely have a romance. Whether it works out depends on fate," Seb said confidently.

"How can you tell?" Susan pressed.

Seb squinted at her, then gently pushed her head onto his shoulder. "Stop worrying about others, get some sleep!"

Seeing him close his eyes again, Susan glanced at Leon and Isabella a few rows away and closed her eyes, but she couldn't stop thinking about them.

Isabella never looked directly at Leon, and Leon turned his face away, avoiding her gaze.

Isabella was fuming inside but had no reason to blow up, so she kept it all bottled up.

Not long after, Isabella, sitting by the window, suddenly stood up to go to the bathroom. Seeing Leon asleep, she whispered, "Hey, move!"

But Leon seemed dead to the world and didn't hear her.

Isabella reached out and gave Leon a shove, startling him awake and almost knocking him off his seat!

"Please move!" Isabella snapped, scowling.

Seeing her disdainful expression, Leon frowned and said, "Miss Brown, please be polite. We're going to Averlake, don't embarrass our country!"
