Chapter 827 Vicious and Ruthless
As expected, the next moment, Ellie stepped up and told Susan, "Ms. Wilson, I think it's time for you to go."
"Seb..." Susan tried to call out to Seb, who was lying on the hospital bed.
"Shut up!" Seb cut her off sharply before Ellie could even react.
Susan shook her head, staring at Seb. She knew it wasn't entirely his fault—he couldn't remember her—but it still hurt.
"We're done. It's not right for you to call me by my name like that. Watch your mouth," Seb said, each word hitting hard.
Susan just shook her head.
His words conveyed his disdain for her. Susan's face turned pale.
"Are you leaving or not?" Seb's voice got louder when he saw Susan just standing there.
Seeing Seb getting angry, Ellie quickly moved to his side and said, "Seb, don't get mad. I'll make her leave right now. You're still recovering."
Seb turned his face away, saying nothing more.
Ellie then walked up to Susan.
Before Ellie could say anything, Susan said, "No need to push me. I'm leaving."
She shot Ellie a glare and turned to go.
Even though today was a rare chance, Susan knew that even if Ellie hadn't come back, Seb probably wouldn't have had the patience to listen to her.
Susan walked out of the hospital room feeling down, thinking today was just plain unlucky. If Ellie hadn't shown up, maybe she could've made some progress.
"Stop!" A female voice suddenly called from behind.
Susan instinctively stopped and turned around, seeing Ellie strutting towards her in high heels.
Susan didn't expect Ellie to chase after her, but she knew Ellie was looking to settle the score.
Ellie walked up to Susan, looked her up and down with disdain, and sneered. "Do you think dressing like that will make Seb notice you? Dream on!"
"I think the one dreaming here is you," Susan shot back, meeting Ellie's disdainful gaze head-on.
"You..." Ellie was momentarily speechless, then burst into laughter. "Did you see that? Seb likes me now, not you. He can't stand you and hates you. Susan, if you know what's good for you, leave Maple Valley and stay away from Seb, or you'll just embarrass yourself!"
Susan had expected Ellie to mock her, so she didn't get angry.
Susan calmly stared at Ellie and said, "He hates me probably because you've been badmouthing me, right? The truth will come out. Do you think a few lies from you can cover everything up? Ellie, maybe Seb relies on you and trusts you now, treating you like his confidante. But if he ever remembers our past, how much he loves me. When that day comes, he won't just leave you; he'll hate you for deceiving him. You won't have a happy ending!"
Sure enough, Susan's words made Ellie a bit flustered.
Ellie quickly put on a calm face and said, "Susan, don't get too cocky. Even if Seb remembers you, who knows how long that'll take? Three years? Five years? Ten years? Now Seb think I'm his fiancee. In eight or ten years, I might already have a bunch of kids with him, and our bond will be unbreakable. Your past will just be ancient history!"
Susan took a step back, a flicker of panic in her eyes.
Ellie wasn't entirely wrong. If Seb remembered her in a few days or months, it would be fine. But if it took eight or ten years, by then, he and Ellie would probably be married.
She couldn't let that happen. She had to find a way to make Seb remember her as soon as possible.
Susan turned and walked away, not wanting to waste any more time talking to Ellie.
"Where do you think you're going?" Ellie quickly stepped in front of her.
Susan looked up at Ellie and said, "Didn't you tell me to disappear? What, having second thoughts now?"
Ellie snorted, "Smart move! To be honest, I already knew what you and Leon were planning. Leon wants to use this board meeting to lure me out, so you can swoop in and seduce Seb, right?"
Susan frowned. It suddenly hit her that this was all part of Ellie's plan.
"So there wasn't a board meeting today?" Susan asked, surprised.
"Leon is a senior executive at Prosperity Group. He can't be fooled about a board meeting. So I deliberately called and said there was a last-minute change, and the board meeting was moved to the afternoon. You came faster than I expected, but unfortunately, no matter what you say to Seb now, he won't listen. In his heart, he already sees you as a gold digger!" Ellie sneered.
Susan's eyes were locked on Ellie, her hands clenched into fists. But she stayed calm, knowing that confronting Ellie head-on wouldn't solve anything and would only make things worse.
Then, she quickly walked away.
Watching Susan's defeated figure, Ellie sneered to herself. "Want to fight me? I'll make sure you lose miserably!"
When Ellie returned to the ward, she smiled at Seb, who was watching her come in, and said, "I just gave Susan a few words of advice. I don't know if she listened, but she left pretty upset."
Seb reached out and held Ellie's hand, saying guiltily, "Ellie, you've had a tough time."
"I'm your fiancée now. It's my duty to help you with your troubles. I just hope I'm actually helping," Ellie said with an embarrassed smile.
"Your understanding is the greatest help to me," Seb said affectionately.
Ellie smiled, touching Seb's hand, and the two shared an intimate moment.
Seb looked down and noticed a not-so-large diamond ring on Ellie's finger and asked, "This diamond ring..."
"This diamond ring was from when you proposed. What? You forgot that too?" Ellie said with a hint of reproach.
"I think I remember something," Seb said, looking at Ellie and nodding, though not entirely convincingly.
