Chapter 952 Refusing to Leave

Noticing Isabella seemed off, Susan frowned and asked, "What's up? Did Leon do something to upset you?"

Isabella lowered her head, looking a bit hurt. "He's so logical, it's driving me nuts. He's worried I'll get pregnant, so he even got emergency contraception ready. Susan, do you think he's not serious about me?"

Susan paused for a moment before replying, "Are you overthinking it? Maybe he didn't consider your feelings, but there's nothing wrong with being cautious. If you're not ready for marriage, having a kid would be a nightmare, especially for us women."

Susan had been through it; she knew the drill.

Hearing this, Isabella felt a bit better and smiled. "Maybe I'm just overreacting."

"You're just really into Leon and feeling insecure. I've been there," Susan said with a smile.

"Susan, thanks. I know you're going through stuff too, yet you still take the time to listen to me," Isabella said sincerely.

Susan gave her a playful shove. "Don't be silly. We've always been there for each other."

"True," Isabella said, smiling.

As it was almost time to clock out, Isabella rested her chin on her hand, wondering if Leon would pick her up today. After all, her lie about her leg had been exposed.

Just then, a text message came in.

Isabella opened it, and sure enough, it was from Leon.

Leon: [Head home on your own this afternoon. I've got a business dinner with Mr. Anderson. You'll have to make dinner yourself.]

Seeing the message, Isabella frowned and felt even more bummed out, thinking he was starting to neglect her.

Frustrated, Isabella tossed her phone aside.

Susan walked out and saw Isabella alone. "Why are you by yourself?"

"They just got off work," Isabella replied, sounding down.

"Is it because Leon can't be with you?" Susan asked with a knowing smile.

"Yeah," Isabella said, getting up to pack her things.

"How about we grab some Mexican food?" Susan suggested.

"Great idea. It's been a while since I went out to eat. I'm actually craving it." Isabella immediately agreed.

So, they headed out for some Mexican food.

By nine o'clock, Isabella came back, a bit tipsy.

As she reached the hallway, she saw a shadow, which startled her and sobered her up a bit.

Leon stubbed out his cigarette and scolded her, "Where were you? How did you get so drunk? I called, but you didn't answer. Do you know how worried I was?"

Seeing it was Leon, Isabella finally relaxed.

Under the streetlight, seeing his worried face, Isabella felt a warmth inside. She walked up to him and said softly, "I went for Mexican with Susan and only had a couple of drinks."

Seeing her slightly drunk state, Leon's eyes darkened. He then bent down and picked her up.

"My leg's fine now. Why are you still carrying me?" Isabella looked up at Leon in the night, thinking he looked especially handsome at that moment.

Leon looked down at Isabella in his arms and said, "You pretended your leg wasn't healed just to make me carry you upstairs every day. Today, I'll play along and let you enjoy being carried upstairs one more time."

Isabella smiled and argued, "Don't talk nonsense, I only pretended for a few days."

At this moment, Isabella's arms had quietly wrapped around Leon's neck.

"You keep going out and getting drunk all the time. What's up with that? There is no next time; get it?" Leon scolded as he carried Isabella upstairs.

The tipsy Isabella rested her head on Leon's shoulder, letting him nag. She felt very happy and closed her eyes.

Isabella didn't know how she was carried upstairs. She only knew that when she woke up, she was already lying in a warm bed, with an arm around her waist.

"Awake?" Leon asked from behind her as he felt her move.

"What time is it?" The room was pitch dark, and Isabella saw through the sheer curtains that the night outside was very deep.

"Past one," Leon replied.

Hearing this, Isabella frowned and asked, "Why haven't you gone home?"

Leon hesitated for a moment and said, "Are you saying you want to kick me out?"

Isabella thought for a moment and tried to say as gently as possible, "If you stay here overnight, the neighbors will gossip if they see."

Hearing this, Leon frowned and said, "Then move to my place. I live in a single-family home with no neighbors."

"I have my own home. Why should I move to yours?" Isabella immediately refused, but her mind was racing.

She couldn't help but think, 'What does he mean? Does he want to live together?' Isabella felt a bit disappointed. Leon wanted to live together but wasn't proposing. She suspected that he was not serious about her.

"The environment at my place is better, and the house is bigger. And, of course, the bed is bigger," Leon said with a suggestive look in his eyes.

"What do you mean by a bigger bed?" Isabella asked, staring at Leon under the dim light.

"I didn't mean anything." Leon raised an eyebrow.

Then, Isabella suddenly hugged Leon's neck and laughed. "A bigger bed means we can roll around without restraint, right?"

Then, Isabella rolled on the bed with Leon, and they both laughed heartily.

Rolling on the bed was indeed quite thrilling. Leon tried rolling with Isabella, and they both laughed happily.

The laughter in the room was loud.

Isabella's earlier worries completely vanished. She was such a carefree girl. Although she could be sensitive at times, she often forgot her troubles quickly.

As they were playing around, there was a sudden loud knock on the front door.

"Who is it?" Leon quickly let go of Isabella, put on his slippers, and left the bedroom.

Isabella listened intently to the commotion outside. Who could be knocking at this hour? She felt a bit nervous and scared.

"Can you keep it down in the middle of the night? Don't you know this is disturbing the peace? I have kids who need to go to school tomorrow, and you're setting a bad example for them. Seriously, be quiet!" The person outside yelled at the closed door before leaving.

Hearing this, Isabella blushed. She had indeed lost track of time. It was so embarrassing. She wouldn't be able to face her neighbors, because they all knew she wasn't married yet.
