Chapter 1098 Old Love, New Flame
"Sure." Skylar nodded with a smile.
Then, Daryl got up and walked out of the restaurant with Douglas.
"What's up?" Daryl asked Douglas.
At this moment, Douglas hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward and said, "Mr. Fields, Ms. Thorne seems to have seen you with Miss Tate."
Hearing this, Daryl frowned and put one hand into his pocket.
The next moment, Daryl asked, "What did she say?"
"Ms. Thorne told me not to tell you, to avoid unnecessary trouble," Douglas replied, looking down.
"Got it." Hearing this, Daryl's face darkened, and he turned around and walked back into the restaurant.
After sitting down again, Skylar looked at Daryl and smiled. "Daryl, you've been with me for over a week now. Is it affecting your work?"
"No." Daryl seemed a bit distracted at the moment.
Skylar scrutinized Daryl for a moment and said, "I'm really happy you can be with me every day, but I'm afraid it might affect your work. I know you're very busy, managing the branch here and pursuing your PhD. My parents always praise you when they talk about you!"
Daryl hesitated for a moment and suddenly said, "Speaking of your parents, I had Douglas buy some local specialties as a token of my appreciation."
Hearing this, Skylar said, "No rush. I still want to stay in Northstar City for a few more days. I really like the air here."
"I'm just worried your parents might be concerned about you," Daryl said.
Skylar laughed and said, "My parents know I'm with you, so they're very relieved. They called me as soon as I got off the plane!"
Hearing this, Daryl didn't say anything and lowered his head to eat his steak.
After dinner, Daryl took Skylar back to her room.
"Daryl, will you take a walk with me?" Skylar suddenly hooked her arm around Daryl's.
Daryl looked down at Skylar and smiled. "Sorry, I have plans with a friend tonight, so I can't."
"Alright then." Skylar pouted but agreed.
"I'll have breakfast with you tomorrow morning," Daryl said, patting Skylar's head.
"Okay!" Skylar immediately perked up at this.
"Get some rest," Daryl said, then left Skylar's room.
At nine o'clock, a black luxury car stopped in front of a villa.
Cecilia was leaning against the headboard, with a copy of "One Hundred Years of Solitude" on her lap.
Although she seemed to be reading, she couldn't focus, her mind wandering uncontrollably.
At this moment, the door suddenly opened.
Cecilia was startled and looked up to see a figure in a white shirt standing at the door.
Seeing Daryl appear in front of her, Cecilia was momentarily stunned.
Their eyes met, one pair deep and the other melancholic, and for a moment, neither spoke.
After several seconds, Cecilia broke the silence first. "You're back from Cobblestone City?"
Although she asked this, she thought to herself, 'Where's his luggage? It must be at the hotel, since he's been staying there with Skylar these days. Is he here to announce his return? Does Skylar go back to her country?' The thought made Cecilia's heart ache.
Hearing this, Daryl stepped in, stood by the bed, and looked down at Cecilia, who was still leaning against the headboard. "What do you mean?"
Cecilia noticed the anger in Daryl's eyes, then straightened her back and replied, "I was just saying hello, nothing more."
Cecilia's distant and cold attitude made Daryl even angrier. He then warned Cecilia in a cold tone, "You better remember your place. I'm paying for you to stay here to make me happy, not to make insinuations or interfere in my life!"
Hearing this, Cecilia realized that Daryl knew she had seen him and Skylar enter the hotel yesterday.
'Does he think I'm trying to ruin things between him and Skylar?' Cecilia sneered.
"What are you laughing at?" Daryl's anger flared even more at Cecilia's sneer.
The next moment, Cecilia looked up at the furious Daryl and said, "You're my backer. I won't forget my place, and I have no intention of interfering in your life."
Hearing this, Daryl clenched his fist and snorted coldly, "You better be."
With that, Daryl glanced at Cecilia and then turned to leave.
After a while, Cecilia heard the sound of a car engine starting outside the open window.
Cecilia knew he had left the villa, and she leaned back against the headboard, exhausted.
It seemed he had come back to question her, but she had no right or need to interfere in his life now.
At this moment, Cecilia hoped Daryl could be with Skylar, then he probably would let her go.
Seeing Daryl so furious just now, it seemed he had genuine feelings for Skylar.
Thinking about their intimate moments together, Cecilia's heart ached once more.
A few days later, Daryl and Skylar were chatting in the back seat of a car.
"Daryl, isn't that your school?" Suddenly, Skylar pointed to a building ahead.
"Yes." Daryl nodded.
"Stop the car!" Skylar immediately shouted to Douglas in the front.
The next moment, Douglas hit the brakes and stopped the car in front of the university.
"Skylar, what are you doing?" Daryl frowned at Skylar.
Skylar smiled at Daryl and then opened the car door. "I want to take a look around your school!"
"Skylar!" Daryl tried to stop her.
But it was too late; Skylar had already gotten out and was walking towards the school gate.
At this moment, Daryl turned to Douglas and snapped, "Who told you to stop?"
"Ms. Tate told me to," Douglas replied innocently.
Daryl frowned and said, "Cecilia is also at this school."
Hearing this, Douglas understood that Daryl was worried Skylar might run into Cecilia.
Douglas said, "It can't be that coincidental, can it?"
Daryl glared at Douglas and instructed, "Wait here."
The next moment, Daryl got out of the car and walked quickly to catch up with Skylar.
After walking around the school with Skylar for a while, Daryl said, "Skylar, can we leave now?"
