Chapter 369 Good Luck
Upon hearing this, Seb didn't even flinch. "The boss at Pioneer Accounting Firm is pretty chill. He didn't go after them for the financial mess they made. Otherwise, they'd be drowning in debt forever."
Susan's jaw dropped. 'Elliott really lucked out, and now he's got the guts to ask for severance pay?'
"When did you know it?" Susan asked, still trying to wrap her head around it.
"Just a couple of days ago," Seb said casually.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Susan asked, pretending to be annoyed.
"You were in such a good mood lately, I didn't wanna ruin it," Seb shrugged.
Susan grinned, "Bad guys got what they deserved. That wouldn't kill my vibe at all."
She didn't mention that Elliott had stormed into the office today, causing a scene and cursing her out. She didn't want Seb to get all riled up and send someone after Elliott again; it wasn't worth it.
"Since you're in such a good mood, how about I treat you to a fancy dinner? Eat up, so you'll look stunning in a wedding dress," Seb said, giving her chin a playful pinch.
Susan was caught off guard, blushing, "Who said I want a wedding dress?"
Her heart was racing. Was Seb hinting at a proposal?
"Nah, just saying," Seb smirked, raising an eyebrow.
Then he went back to fiddling with his tablet. Susan rolled her eyes, thinking, 'You sure are talkative today.'
But she did feel a bit let down. She hadn't planned on remarrying Seb so soon, but it should be on the table, right?
Still, Susan wasn't about to bring it up first. That'd be too forward. If Seb didn't mention it, she definitely wouldn't either.
Soon, the car pulled up in front of a swanky restaurant.
Through the window, she saw it was super fancy, with luxury cars parked all around.
"Isn't this supposed to be a casual meal? Why go all out? I only have an hour and a half for lunch, and I can't be late this afternoon," Susan said, feeling a bit stressed.
She'd already been late a few times this week and was feeling the heat.
"I've got it all sorted. You won't be late," Seb assured her, leading her into the posh restaurant.
They got a table upstairs by the window, with a view of the bustling street below.
In the center of the hall, on a high platform with beaded curtains, a curly-haired beauty in a white dress with a gold belt was playing the piano passionately. The soft music filled the restaurant.
As soon as they sat down, the waiter started bringing out dishes one after another. Seb wasn't kidding; everything was ready to go.
Susan glanced around. The place was huge, but only five or six tables were taken.
"Isn't this place super expensive?" she whispered after the waiter left.
Seb grinned, unfolding a white napkin and placing it on his lap. "Yeah, but I dig the peace and quiet here."
Susan nodded. Good spots were always packed, and the empty ones usually had crappy food. Finding a place with great food, a chill vibe, and not a lot of people was like hitting the jackpot.
"Such a big place with so few people—won't they go out of business?" Susan wondered, looking at all the empty seats.
Seb smirked, cutting a piece of steak and placing it on her plate. "High-end joints like this aren't for everyone. The profit margin is huge. If it were packed, it wouldn't be special anymore. People come here for the top-notch food and the ambiance."
Susan felt a bit embarrassed. She really didn't understand the world of the wealthy; that world was too far removed from her.
She looked at Seb. He came from that world, and it blew her mind that they ended up together with two adorable kids.
Was she really that lucky?
"What’s on your mind?" Seb asked, frowning as he saw her silently chewing her steak.
Susan looked up, meeting his curious gaze. "Nothing. Just thinking how lucky I am to have a rich guy like you treating me to such a fancy place. I'm just savoring the food!"
Seb chuckled, placing another piece of steak on her plate. "Then eat up."
Honestly, the steak and foie gras were amazing. After eating here, she realized the food outside was just a sad imitation. Plus, she was really hungry.
"You skipped breakfast, didn't you?" Seb suddenly asked.
"Yeah, no time. I woke up almost at nine and was late again," Susan admitted, looking up.
Meeting Seb's gaze, her face turned red, and memories of last night’s passion flashed through her mind.
She thought she was cheeky, but she still got shy around Seb. Like now, her face was burning, and she pretended to focus on her food.
Seb watched her with amusement. He loved seeing Susan blush and act shy. She was so adorable and innocent, and he enjoyed teasing her, loving her flustered reactions.
The next moment, he decided to mess with her again.
Seb said with a smile, "Looks like I've been too demanding. How about this: from Monday to Friday, we limit it, and on weekends, no limits. What do you think?"
Susan, mid-bite, almost choked at his blunt comment.
She looked up and saw Seb’s face was dead serious. She couldn't help but admire him. He could say the most outrageous things with a straight face.
