Chapter 581 I Have Something to Tell You
Seeing Susan in a daze, Andrew added, "You should know Seb best. Even if you can placate him for a while, it's like a thorn, always stuck in his flesh. He'll probably get inexplicably angry with you every few days."
"You think Seb is as narrow-minded as you? He will believe me," Susan said resolutely.
Andrew sneered and said, "Yes, Seb might believe you for a while, but don't forget, if you reveal this secret, Carol and Rylee will be at odds with you. They are Seb's closest family. Do you really think you can have a happy marriage with that hanging over your heads?"
Seeing Andrew's anxious look, Susan sneered. "Andrew, I think you're the one who's most worried, right? You're afraid Rylee will cut ties with you if she finds out. All your hard work over the years will be in vain, and you'll be poor again!"
"Susan, don't overestimate yourself. Right now, Rylee loves me so much that even if I cheated, she would forgive me. For men, this kind of thing is nothing, but for women, it's a stain that never fades. Especially for a man in Seb's position. I advise you to think it through!" After saying this, Andrew turned and left.
Susan didn't even know how she ended up at the mall and bought a set of exquisite silk pajamas.
Susan wanted to call Seb and tell him she wasn't feeling well and wouldn't be going to Carol's birthday party.
But then she thought, even if she didn't go, Carol would probably make things difficult for her. The only way now was to take the initiative and tell Seb about her past with Andrew, so he could be mentally prepared and they could deal with it together.
Although Susan didn't know how to start the conversation with Seb, she still mustered the courage to call him.
After a few rings, the call was answered.
"Mrs. Anderson, this is Leon. Mr. Anderson is in a very important meeting. He asked me to tell you to meet at Rylee's villa at six o'clock. I'll bring Hayden and Spring over then." It was Leon who answered, not Seb.
Hearing this, Susan frowned. By the time they got to Rylee's villa, it would be too late.
Susan quickly said, "Leon, I have something important to tell Seb. Please let him know to contact me as soon as his meeting is over."
"Okay, I'll relay the message," Leon said before hanging up.
Holding the gift she bought for Carol, she felt her heart burning with anxiety. But there was nothing else she could do now; she could only wait.
By five o'clock, Susan couldn't sit still anymore. She called Seb repeatedly, but he didn't answer.
In desperation, Susan called Leon again.
After a few rings, Leon finally answered. "Mrs. Anderson, I'm on my way to the villa to pick up Hayden and Spring. Do you have any instructions?"
Hearing that Leon wasn't with Seb, Susan frowned and quickly asked, "Is Seb still in the meeting?"
"I'm not sure. You should call him and ask," Leon replied.
"He's not answering. Alright, I'll think of something else," Susan said, frustrated, and hung up.
After another twenty minutes, Seb still hadn't contacted Susan.
With no other option, Susan headed to Rylee's villa.
When Susan reached the street opposite Rylee's villa, she began pacing back and forth.
Finally, as night fell around six o'clock, a black Bentley suddenly stopped in front of her.
The driver's door opened, and Seb, wearing a black trench coat, stepped out.
Seeing Seb, Susan excitedly approached him.
"Have you been waiting long? I just met with a very important client, so I couldn't take your call. Are you mad? Let me see what gift you bought for Mom," Seb said, speaking rapidly.
Susan wasn't in the mood for small talk. She grabbed Seb's arm and said, "Seb, I need to talk to you."
Seeing Susan's serious expression, Seb smiled and said, "Let's talk about it when we get back. Mom has already called to urge us. Let's go in first!"
With that, Seb put his arm around Susan's shoulder.
Susan quickly shrugged off his hand and said anxiously, "Seb, I really have something important to tell you. It has to be now!"
Seeing Susan's grave expression, Seb took her seriously and asked, "What's going on?"
Looking into Seb's eyes, Susan's heart raced, her face flushed, and she felt it was hard to speak, as if she had done something wrong. She kept telling herself, 'It's just a past relationship; he shouldn't mind.'
Even though she had prepared herself mentally, Susan was still a bit incoherent. "It's about a past relationship of mine..."
But just as she started, the door of the villa opposite opened. In the twilight, a young woman with a long shawl walked out and called out to Seb, "Seb!"
Hearing the voice, Seb turned and saw Rylee waving at him.
The next moment, Seb waved back at Rylee and said, "We're coming!"
Hearing this, Susan frowned.
"Let's talk about it later. Let's go in first," Seb said to Susan.
Susan couldn't just go in like that. She grabbed Seb's arm and said, "Seb, can you let me finish?"
But Seb clearly wasn't in the mood to listen. He grabbed her hand and, while leading her across the street, said, "I finally convinced Mom and Rylee to welcome you as a guest here. Standing outside and not going in will make them misunderstand!"
Hearing this, Susan felt helpless. She thought, 'Carol isn't trying to make peace; she's planning a bigger scheme to humiliate me.'
For a moment, all her plans were disrupted, and Susan didn't know what to do.
But turning back now was impossible. She could only adapt and hope things wouldn't be too bad.
When Seb and Susan reached the door, Rylee was standing there.
This time, Rylee even smiled and called out, "Seb, Susan."
Susan forced a smile but thought to herself, 'Does Rylee know about Carol's plan today? Is she in on it, or is she unaware?'
