Chapter 684 Men Can Be Beasts

Susan, feeling deeply humiliated, stared at Seb and retorted calmly, "And what about you? Aren't you very close with Esme? Why did you end up in my bed tonight? Aren't you the one who's fickle?"

Hearing this, Seb's face darkened. "I'm a man!"

"Men and women are both human. Why can men behave like beasts while women must remain chaste?" Susan's eyes were filled with sorrow as she stared at Seb.

In truth, at that moment, she had no desire or energy to argue with him. Her heart and body were both exhausted. She just didn't want him to think he was right and that she had no way to refute him.

"I've never seen such a shameless woman!" Seb, rendered speechless by Susan, pointed at her in a fit of rage.

Susan glanced at Seb and muttered under her breath, "Well, now you have."

At this point, Seb gave Susan a helpless look and stormed off.

Susan collapsed wearily onto the pillow, closed her eyes, and soon two glistening tears rolled down her cheeks.

In front of a villa with a garden, a man in a light gray suit had been waiting by the ornate windows for several hours, but no one came out.

Finally, the man lost his patience and shouted up at the windows, "Rylee, come out and see me, please? Rylee? Rylee!"

Andrew called out repeatedly, drawing the attention of passersby. Bodyguards had already asked him to leave, but Andrew retorted, "This street doesn't belong to the Anderson family, does it? Can't I stand on the sidewalk and call out?"

Seeing this, the bodyguards were helpless and could only let him shout, but getting close to the door was out of the question.

Eventually, the neighbors came out to complain.

"What's going on with your family? This guy has been shouting here for hours, and our baby can't sleep!"

Faced with the neighbors' complaints, Rylee had no choice but to come out of the villa.

"Rylee? I knew you'd come out to see me!" Andrew ran up excitedly when he saw Rylee.

Rylee glanced at the haggard-looking Andrew and said coldly, "What do you want now?"

"Rylee, please let me explain," Andrew said anxiously, grabbing Rylee's hand.

But Rylee quickly shook off his hand, and when Andrew tried to approach again, Rylee called over two bodyguards. The burly bodyguards stood in front of Rylee, leaving Andrew helpless.

Through the gap between the bodyguards, Rylee said to Andrew, "Andrew, there's no need to explain. I won't fall for your sweet talk anymore. I want a divorce. I know you won't agree, but my lawyer will contact you. If you keep causing trouble here, I'll call the police. As the Vice President of Prosperity Group, I think it would be quite embarrassing for you to end up at the police station, wouldn't it?"

"Rylee..." Andrew tried to say something.

Rylee interrupted him, "Don't worry, the shares my mother transferred to your name are beyond my control now. And as a shareholder and Vice President of Prosperity Group, no one can force you out as long as you have those shares. You've gained a lot from me, more than most people earn in a lifetime. Andrew, you should be satisfied!"

With that, Rylee turned and went back into the villa.

Through the black wrought-iron gate, Andrew shouted at Rylee's retreating figure, "Rylee, I won't agree to the divorce! Never! Rylee, I love you, I love you!"

Hearing Andrew's shouts behind her, Rylee quickly walked into the foyer, tears streaming down her face.

Andrew walked dejectedly into his office, followed by a newly promoted mid-level manager.

"Mr. Martin, any progress with Ms. Anderson? The whole company's buzzing. We've lost key partnerships, and potential investors are getting cold feet!" Gilbert Harvey said worriedly.

"No, we haven't!" Andrew slammed his fist on the table in frustration.

Seeing Andrew's agitation, Gilbert tried to calm him down. "Mr. Martin, you must stay composed. Mr. Anderson is just waiting for us to make a mistake!"

"I know he's been trying every way to get me out of Prosperity Group. I won't let him succeed!" Andrew said through gritted teeth.

"Mr. Martin, I think the key is to reconcile with Ms. Anderson. She's a major shareholder of Prosperity Group. With her support, Mr. Anderson can't dominate the company!" Gilbert reminded him.

"Of course, I know that. But it's been two months, and Rylee won't see me. I haven't even had a chance to explain!" Andrew said irritably.

"Mr. Martin, if you want to see her, you can. From what I know, Ms. Anderson has always been deeply in love with you. What misunderstanding can't be cleared up? Even if you've done something wrong, just make amends. And you might want to use a bit of the 'wounded hero' tactic; women fall for that!" Gilbert whispered.

Hearing this, Andrew glanced at Gilbert and then smiled. "You're an expert in this area, no wonder you've had three wives, and each one was devoted to you."

"It's a natural talent. My dad was married four times," Gilbert said with a sly grin.

A few days later, Rylee arranged to go shopping at a department store with a close friend.

After visiting several stores, Rylee still showed no interest. She didn't buy anything, nor did she even try anything on.

Seeing Rylee's listless state, her friend asked with concern, "Rylee, haven't you and Andrew made up yet? Look at how haggard you are. Isn't it just a little tiff? I know you were spoiled at home, and Andrew had a tough childhood. You need to be more understanding and not too willful. After all, you're married now. Are you really thinking about divorce? In our circle, divorce is quite disgraceful."

Even though Rylee was naive, she wouldn't share all her family issues with her friend, so she only mentioned that she had been arguing with Andrew recently.

"But if two people aren't right for each other, can't they get a divorce? It's not that taboo anymore, is it?" Rylee asked, her voice small.
