Chapter 59 Panic

Susan was left speechless for a few seconds before snapping back to reality. She thought, 'Why would Seb's ex, Cynthia, contact me? What does she want?'

After a long silence, Cynthia asked, "Are you listening?"

Cynthia's voice jolted Susan back. She quickly said, "I'm sorry, Seb's never mentioned you. And just so you know, Seb and I are married now. Please call me Mrs. Anderson, not Ms. Wilson."

Cynthia didn't argue. Instead, she said, "Mrs. Anderson, I'd like to talk to you. Do you have time this afternoon?"

Cynthia's tone was so gentle that Susan found it hard to refuse.

But Susan knew better. No matter how sweet Cynthia sounded, she couldn't have good intentions. So she said, "I don't know you, so there's nothing for us to talk about."

Susan was about to hang up when Cynthia, sounding a bit desperate, quickly said, "I know it's sudden, but continuing like this is bad for you, for me, and for Seb."

Susan sneered. "What do you mean by 'like this'? We're fine. You're just Seb's ex. Even if you and Seb are back together, you should talk to him, not me."

Susan felt a wave of panic. Seb had been coming home late recently. Maybe he and Cynthia were back together.

Thinking of this, Susan felt a numbness in her brain.

Cynthia wasn't fazed by Susan's harsh words. Her voice remained gentle. "I know you're right, but there are things Seb can't tell you. Being kept in the dark is terrible. We need to talk. At 2 PM, at the Blue Horizon Cafe near your house. I'll be waiting."

With that, Cynthia hung up.

Susan put down the phone, dazed. She spent the afternoon restless, debating whether to go.

She wanted to call Seb and ask about Cynthia, but halfway through dialing, she hung up.

'Do I really have the right to question him as his wife? The prenup says I can't interfere in his personal life.' Susan was lost in thought.

After a long time, it was nearly 2 PM when Susan finally decided to go.

She knew she'd probably hear unpleasant things, but curiosity got the better of her. She wanted to know what had happened between Cynthia and Seb, what their current relationship was, and what Cynthia wanted.

She remembered overhearing Carol and Seb talking at the Anderson mansion. Carol had asked if Seb was still hung up on his previous relationship. 'Was Carol talking about Cynthia?

It seemed Cynthia had once been important to Seb. Did he still love her?'

Thinking about this, Susan felt a wave of panic and deep sadness. 'Why am I feeling this way? What's happening to me?'

Without thinking further, Susan changed into the outfit she had worn to the Anderson mansion and told Kathy she was going out.

Arriving at the Blue Horizon Cafe, Susan took a deep breath before stepping inside.

There weren't many people having coffee at this time. Susan immediately spotted a young woman sitting by the window.

When she saw Cynthia's face clearly, Susan felt a sudden panic.

Cynthia was stunningly beautiful, the kind of beauty that made people take notice.

At that moment, Susan stumbled and almost fell. Fortunately, Cynthia hadn't seen her yet and didn't witness her awkwardness.

Susan felt very nervous. Although she knew Cynthia was no ordinary person, she hadn't expected Cynthia to be this stunningly beautiful.

Thinking about herself, Susan realized that while she was passable, she couldn't compare to Cynthia at all.

At that moment, Susan felt a sharp pain in her heart, as if a knife was cutting through it.

Susan couldn't help but laugh bitterly. She had been wishfully thinking that she and Seb had developed some feelings for each other. But with an ex-girlfriend like Cynthia, what man could forget her?

It turned out everything was just a joke.

The one he couldn't forget was Cynthia.

Susan looked at Cynthia with a critical eye. She had short, slightly curly hair, delicate makeup, and a black-and-white sleeveless outfit that was very elegant.

The jewelry on Cynthia's ears, neck, and wrists was dazzling, indicating that she came from a wealthy family. She exuded an air of nobility and elegance.

Cynthia was truly beautiful and graceful, with a noble aura similar to Seb's. If they stood together, they would indeed make a perfect match.

And as for Susan, not only was her appearance incomparable to Cynthia's, but she also lacked the socialite's grace that Cynthia possessed.

At that moment, Cynthia looked up and saw Susan staring at her. Confirming her identity, Cynthia smiled and waved at her.

Although Susan had mentally prepared herself, she still felt very nervous.

But since she was already here, there was no reason to turn back. She couldn't let Cynthia's presence intimidate her. The next moment, Susan resolutely walked over.

When she reached the table and sat down, she said calmly, "Sorry, I'm late."

Cynthia smiled slightly. "It's okay. I know you're pregnant now, so it must be more troublesome to go out."

Hearing this, Susan was stunned.

Even Cynthia was aware of her pregnancy, making Susan feel like she was fighting a losing battle against a woman Seb still loved, with no defense in sight.
