Chapter 1234 Nervousness

Hearing Douglas's words, the veins on Daryl's forehead bulged.

Daryl stared at Douglas nervously and asked, "Any news about Cecilia?"

If a cruise ship capsized at sea, the people on board were in grave danger. Daryl's face had already turned very grim.

"I just contacted the travel agency. The local ground team is already on site. Only a few people have been rescued, and the others are still missing. Sylvanor is doing everything they can to rescue them," Douglas said with a frown.

Daryl's hand on the desk trembled slightly.

He immediately looked up and ordered, "Book me the earliest flight to Sylvanor; contact the head of Fields Corporation's Sylvanor branch immediately and have him organize employees to assist in the rescue; find a way to contact the Luminara consulate in Sylvanor and make sure to rescue all the missing people!"

"Yes, I'll get right on it," Douglas responded quickly and left.

After Douglas left, Daryl slumped in his chair, and took a cigarette from the pack, but his hands were shaking so much he couldn't light it.

By evening, Daryl and Douglas had arrived in Sylvanor.

Upon arriving in Sylvanor, they went straight to the accident site.

Although night had fallen, the rescue operations at the seaside continued.

Daryl frowned deeply as he stared at the various rescue boats on the coast, his hands clenched into fists.

"Mr. Fields, the head of the Sylvanor branch is here," Douglas said softly behind Daryl.

Daryl turned around and saw a man in a gray suit standing in front of him.

"Mr. Fields?" The man greeted him respectfully, with a hint of nervousness.

Daryl stepped forward and grabbed the man's arm, urgently asking, "How many people have been rescued? Is Cecilia among them?"

The man exchanged a glance with Douglas, then replied gravely, "A total of eighteen people have been rescued and sent to the local hospital. I checked it out, but the person you're looking for, Mr. Fields, is not among them."

A flicker of disappointment crossed Daryl's eyes as he slowly released the man's arm.

Douglas quickly stepped forward to comfort him, "Mr. Fields, we are still in a critical rescue period tonight. Several more people were just rescued. Miss Thorne still has a chance of survival."

Although Douglas said this, everyone knew that Cecilia's chances of survival were diminishing.

Daryl's eyes were fixed on the dark sea, as if he hadn't heard Douglas's words.

Douglas and the head of the Sylvanor branch stood by, not daring to make a sound.

Daryl asked sternly, "Are the speedboats I asked for ready?"

The head of the Sylvanor branch quickly replied, "As per your instructions, we have prepared fifty speedboats and over a hundred skilled sailors."

Daryl ordered, "Send those speedboats out to search for people, and prepare a speedboat for me!"

The head of the Sylvanor branch couldn't help but open his mouth in surprise.

Douglas said worriedly, "Mr. Fields, let me take a speedboat out to sea. You can't go!"

"Stop talking nonsense. You take one, I'll take one!" Daryl said, pushing Douglas aside and heading in the direction indicated by the head of the Sylvanor branch.

On the calm sea at night, hundreds of rescue boats searched for survivors with the help of spotlights.

Daryl stood on a speedboat, his deep eyes scanning the calm sea, his brows furrowed, and his expression extremely serious. He knew that if they didn't find Cecilia tonight, her chances of survival would be almost zero.

The night was slowly eroding Daryl's confidence. Sweat had soaked his hair and his white shirt, but he knew that even with a one-in-a-million chance, he had to keep going.

Daryl couldn't imagine what he would do if he lost Cecilia. Even if he could go on living, he would become a walking corpse.

In the middle of the night, Douglas, standing on another speedboat, saw that Daryl was completely soaked and shouted, "Mr. Fields, you should go back and rest. Leave this to me!"

Daryl said gravely, "Stop talking nonsense and keep searching. Tell all the sailors that whoever finds Cecilia first will get a $100,000 reward!"

"Yes!" Douglas responded loudly.

Douglas then conveyed Daryl's message, and the sailors, full of enthusiasm, continued their search with renewed vigor.

In the middle of the night, Daryl was exhausted and sat at the front of the speedboat.

He glanced into the distance and decisively ordered, "Head to that farther area!"

"Yes." The helmsman immediately steered the speedboat towards the dark waters ahead.

"Help! Help..." Suddenly, a weak voice came from the dark water.

"Stop!" Daryl was the first to hear what sounded like someone speaking and immediately gave an order.

The speedboat stopped on the sea, and Daryl listened intently. The voice was coming from a certain direction.

"It sounds like someone is over there!" the helmsman said.

"Hurry over there," Daryl's heart was pounding.

Cecilia was floating on the sea, holding onto a wooden plank. She had been floating for almost twenty-four hours, her body severely exhausted. Looking up at the night sky and the endless sea, she was about to give up.

She didn't expect her life would end in this foreign land. Her mind was filled with thoughts of Rainey and Quentin, and then of Daryl. They had finally gotten together, only for it to end this way. Cecilia couldn't help but sigh at the unfairness of it all.

Despite these thoughts, Cecilia never gave up hope. She firmly believed that someone would come to rescue her. She couldn't give in.

After floating on the sea for almost twenty-four hours, she finally heard the sound of a boat passing by. Despite being close to dehydration, she immediately shouted for help!

"It sounds like a woman!" a sailor on the speedboat shouted first.

Daryl immediately stood up, his eyes fixed on the dark figure.

As the speedboat got closer, Daryl's heart was about to leap out of his chest at the sight of a familiar face.

"Cecilia! Cecilia, is that you?" Daryl shouted at the dark figure.

Suddenly hearing someone call her name, and the voice so familiar, Cecilia immediately recognized that it was Daryl coming to rescue her!

"Daryl, Daryl!" Cecilia shouted excitedly.
