Chapter 152 Marriage

Susan had just left the kitchen when Seb grabbed her arm and pulled her into a hug. She tried to push him away but couldn't.

Seb pinched her chin and asked with a grin, "Are you really mad?"

"Yes!" Susan said loudly.

Seb kept smiling and said, "You look even more beautiful when you're angry."

Susan couldn't help but laugh. She patted his shoulder, feeling a bit helpless.

"How about I take you out for a big dinner tonight?" Seb suggested.

Susan immediately raised both hands in agreement. She was exhausted and didn't want to cook.

"I want barbecue," she said, looking up.

"Whatever you want," Seb replied.

Susan felt Seb was really easygoing now, doing everything to please her. It was unusual but nice.

Susan ate a lot, while Seb mostly watched her, enjoying her happiness.

Susan felt cherished. The care was so wonderful she wished it could last forever.

After a walk, they returned to her small apartment.

As soon as Susan took off her coat, Seb started touching her.

Feeling creeped out, she said, "Stop it, I'm so tired. I just want to shower and sleep."

She was exhausted from last night's activities.

But Seb had a mischievous look. "You ate so much barbecue and still have no energy?"

"Did you take me out for barbecue with ulterior motives?" she asked, pointing at him.

"Whatever you say," Seb replied, starting to undress her.

"No, don't."

Inevitably, Seb pulled her onto the bed again.

Exhausted, Susan didn't even want to shower, lying half-asleep on the pillow.

"After we get married tomorrow, I have a big gift for you," Seb whispered in her ear.

"What big gift?" Susan asked, too tired to open her eyes.

"You'll see," Seb said, kissing her shoulder and covering her with a blanket. He then closed his eyes.

Susan vaguely remembered being with Seb again that night, keeping her eyes closed the whole time.

She couldn't persuade him, so she just let him do what he wanted.

The next morning, birds chirping outside woke her up.

She opened her sleepy eyes to see the sun high in the sky. Seb was already gone.

Susan sat up, saw it was almost nine, and looked around the apartment. Seb was nowhere to be seen.

It seemed he had gone to work. But wait, didn't he say they were going to the Vital Records Office to get married this morning?

Could Seb have forgotten? No way. If he did, she'd twist his nose off.

Susan grabbed her phone to call him. Just then, a text popped up from Seb.

[Susan, sorry, I have a short but important meeting this morning. Can we meet at the Vital Records Office at ten?]

The message was sent an hour ago and Susan quickly replied.

[Okay.]

[See you at ten.] Seb replied shortly after.

Knowing Seb had an important meeting, Susan didn't text back. She started getting ready. Today, she was a bride and wanted to look her best. If she could wow Seb, it would be perfect.

She quickly ate breakfast and did her makeup and hair. By the time she was ready, it was past nine-thirty.

Turning in front of the mirror, Susan was satisfied. Smooth long hair, light makeup, a black turtleneck, a bright red cashmere coat, black boots, and a black bag—she looked stylish.

These were new clothes she bought yesterday, costing her seven or eight thousand dollars. It was different from her usual casual style, and she hoped Seb would like it.

Before leaving, she put on the ring. Seb would be happy to see it.

Susan quickly hailed a cab and headed to the Vital Records Office.

Sitting in the waiting area, she felt excited and thrilled.

Thinking back to her first marriage with Seb, it was a blur. But this time, she was extremely happy. She was about to be with Seb forever, and no matter what, she would stand by his side.

While waiting, she watched couples register, their faces beaming with happiness.

At ten o'clock, Seb still hadn't arrived, so Susan sent him a message.

As she fiddled with her ring, she wondered what Seb's reaction would be when he arrived. 'He should come rushing over to apologize, right? Being late on our wedding day would be disrespectful.'

But her message seemed to disappear into the void.

Ten minutes later, she couldn't wait any longer and called him directly.

The call was either busy or couldn't connect. By ten-thirty, Susan was getting anxious.

If Seb had something urgent, he would call. But now she couldn't reach him. Could something have happened?

Panicking, she quickly found Leon's number and dialed.

This time, the call went through.

"Mr. Johnson, where are you and Seb? Why can't I reach him?" she asked urgently.

"Ms. Wilson, I'm not with Mr. Anderson. An hour ago, he said he had something important and left the company without me," Leon replied, sounding confused.

Susan's anxiety grew. "He left an hour ago, but I still haven't seen him."

The drive from Prosperity Group to the Vital Records Office was only fifteen minutes, so Seb had no reason to take an hour and still not arrive.
