Chapter 933 Exit Your Life
Hearing this, a flicker of pain crossed Leon's eyes, but then he looked up and laughed. "Yeah, I'm just looking for trouble."
"Good that you know. Just leave me alone. I really don't want to see you!" Isabella stretched out her last words, making her point clear.
"Don't worry, I won't bother you again!" Leon finally snapped, turned around, and stormed off.
After a bit, staring at the empty doorway, Isabella felt a sudden emptiness. The fire from their argument fizzled out, leaving her drained. She leaned against the wall, feeling like she might collapse.
She glanced down at the two big tote bags Leon had kicked over. Inside, her favorite meat, veggies, and fruits were scattered all over the floor.
Seeing this, a wave of sadness washed over her.
Isabella knew Leon had come to bring her stuff tonight. The caregiver had left early because of some personal issues, which led to this mess.
Deep down, Isabella knew Leon cared about her. Otherwise, he wouldn't keep bringing her food and drinks and telling the caregiver to look after her.
But his way of showing it was all wrong. Every time he saw her, he had to look annoyed and throw in some sarcastic comments to feel better.
She knew she was a handful. She didn't know how to hold back or be patient, which caused their arguments, and it never ended well.
But this time, he crossed the line. Saying such hurtful things was practically an insult to her dignity.
In a fit of anger, Isabella slammed the door shut.
After sitting on the couch to calm down, she realized how pointless it all was.
Later, she got up and slowly moved to the doorway.
Opening the door, she saw the stuff Leon bought still lying on the ground. She frowned and told herself she wasn't accepting his kindness or being greedy. She just thought it was a waste to throw it all away, and besides, the money in the envelope she gave him was enough to cover it.
So, she picked up the stuff and put it all in the fridge.
Her legs were giving her trouble, and by the time she was done, she was sweating buckets.
That night, she tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
The next morning, the caregiver didn't show up.
Even though Isabella didn't rely on the caregiver for breakfast, it still made her uneasy when she didn't show up.
Alfonso arrived on time to take Isabella to work. She pretended everything was fine, chatting and laughing with Alfonso on the way, but only she knew she was forcing a smile.
After Alfonso pushed Isabella to her office, he left. Susan, who was returning to work on her first day back, ran into Alfonso.
After Alfonso left, Susan rushed over to Isabella, surprised. "What's going on? I haven't been here for a few days, and now you have a boyfriend?"
Isabella glanced at Susan. "You haven't been here for a month, okay? There's a lot you don't know."
"Who is that guy? Spill the beans!" Susan asked eagerly.
Isabella grinned. "His name's Alfonso. The lady who runs the beauty salon next door set us up on a blind date."
Susan's jaw practically hit the floor. "Wait, what? A blind date? How long has it been, and you're already this close? Isabella, have you really thought this through? If you get close to Alfonso, what about Leon?" She lowered her voice for the last part.
Isabella glanced around, making sure it was just her and Susan in the office. The receptionist and Maria were nowhere to be seen.
With a huff, Isabella said, "He can do whatever he wants. I have nothing to do with him!"
Susan frowned and asked softly, "Did something happen between you and Leon? Another fight?"
Isabella was getting impatient. "How many times do I have to tell you, I have nothing to do with him. Can you stop bringing him up? I'm getting along great with Alfonso now. He's handsome, has a car and a house, a bright future, and he's considerate. We're moving in a positive direction!"
"Really?" Susan shook her head but didn't push further. She could tell Isabella's mood was off.
That evening, at the gym.
Leon, in shorts and a tank top, hopped on the treadmill and cranked it up to high speed, running like he was trying to outrun his thoughts.
On the treadmill next to him, Seb noticed something was up. "What's eating you today?"
"Nothing, just working out," Leon replied, trying to sound serious.
"Your mood's off. If something's bugging you, I bet it has to do with Isabella," Seb said, walking briskly on his treadmill.
Seb hit the nail on the head. Leon smirked and said while running, "She won't affect me anymore."
"What do you mean? Did you guys break up?" Seb asked, surprised.
"We never started, so how could we break up?" Leon said, a bit self-deprecatingly.
Seb chuckled. "You've already been won over by Isabella!"
"Mr. Anderson, what do you mean by that?" Leon asked, panting, as he turned to look at Seb.
Seb gave Leon a meaningful look. "Leon, take my advice. If you've found your true love, don't let her go. If you do, you'll regret it for the rest of your life!"
With that, Seb turned off his treadmill and walked away.
Leon ran a few more steps before he was exhausted. He jumped off the treadmill, sat on the floor, sweating buckets, with Seb's words echoing in his mind.
For several days, Leon stayed out of Isabella's sight.
During this time, Isabella got a call from the caregiver, who said she wouldn't be coming anymore. Isabella realized Leon was pulling out of her life.
This time, Leon's withdrawal was complete. She really didn't see him again. Maybe because of Susan and Seb's divorce, Leon vanished from her life.
At first, Isabella found it hard to adjust, but eventually, she got used to it. She often found herself missing Leon, though she'd never admit it.
