Chapter 655 Heartbreak
At Rylee's command, a bodyguard immediately closed the ornate wrought-iron gate, leaving Hayden and Spring trapped inside.
Susan, who had fallen to the ground, didn't bother to stand up. She crawled forward, reaching her hands through the gate to hold Hayden and Spring's little hands.
"Hayden, Spring!" Finally seeing her children, Susan's face lit up with a joyful smile despite the pain in her backside from the fall.
"Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!" Hayden's big round eyes looked at Susan, while little Spring, too young to understand, reached out with chubby hands to touch Susan's face.
The next moment, Hayden pointed at Rylee and shouted, "Aunt Rylee, don't bully my mommy!"
Hearing this, Rylee frowned and said, "Hayden, she's a bad woman. You and Spring shouldn't see her anymore; she'll lead you astray!"
"You're lying! My mommy is the best person, not a bad woman. If you say that again, I'll hit you!" Hayden clenched his little fists, gritting his teeth.
"You brat, why are you so disobedient?" Rylee said angrily to Hayden.
At this moment, Susan quickly grabbed Hayden's hand and said, "Hayden, don't talk nonsense!"
Hayden and Spring were too young; she didn't want them to get involved in the conflict.
"Mommy, I'm not talking nonsense. You're my mommy, the best mommy in the world, the best person. If anyone dares to say you're not, I won't let them off!" Although Hayden was not yet six years old, he spoke with the same domineering tone as Seb.
Seeing Hayden acting like a little man, Susan felt an indescribable comfort but also a tinge of bitterness.
"Get back inside right now!" Rylee pointed at Hayden and Spring inside the gate.
"Why should we listen to you?" Hayden said angrily.
Rylee replied, "Because I'm your aunt."
"You're not our aunt anymore!" Hayden shouted. "You're mean to Mommy!"
Perhaps Rylee's voice was too loud, and Spring was too young; the next moment, she started crying!
Seeing Spring cry, Hayden became even more furious and pointed at Rylee, saying, "You scared Spring, you bad woman!"
"You're learning bad habits from your mother. Children need discipline!" Rylee was angered by Hayden.
"Spring, don't be afraid, I'm here." Seeing Spring crying loudly, Susan felt heartbroken and could only comfort her gently.
At this moment, another person walked out of the villa.
His tall figure approached with the light behind him. Seeing Hayden and Rylee arguing, Susan sitting on the ground, and Spring crying loudly, he frowned.
"What in God's name is going on here?" Seb boomed, his voice laced with displeasure.
Just as Hayden was about to speak, Rylee pointed at Susan and said, "She came to our doorstep, causing trouble, and made the kids argue with me. Seb, you should call someone to kick her out!"
Hayden, however, pointed at Rylee and argued, "Daddy, it was Aunt Rylee who pushed Mommy and scared Spring!"
Seb glanced at Susan sitting on the ground, then looked around at Rylee outside the gate and Hayden and Spring inside, and shouted, "Shut up, all of you! Don't you know how embarrassing this is?"
When Seb got angry, no one dared to say anything more. Rylee and Hayden both lowered their heads.
At this moment, Susan slowly got up, squatted in front of the ornate wrought-iron gate, holding Hayden's hand with one hand and caressing Spring's face with the other, gently soothing her. "Spring, be good, don't cry. You have to be strong, okay?"
Seb's eyes glanced over, his face dark and gloomy. He then turned and shouted towards the villa, "Kathy, Mary!"
The next moment, Kathy and Mary came running out of the villa one after the other.
They had seen the situation outside from the foyer but didn't dare to come out.
Seeing them come out, Seb shouted, "Take Hayden and Spring back inside immediately!"
"Yes." Kathy and Mary didn't dare to delay and quickly stepped forward to take Hayden and Spring away.
"I'm not leaving, I want Mommy!" Hayden, now more aware, held onto Susan's hand tightly.
"Mommy, Mommy." Spring, still too young to understand, kept calling for Susan.
Susan, of course, couldn't bear to part with Hayden and Spring. She held onto both of their hands. "Hayden, Spring."
At this moment, Kathy softly advised, "Ms. Wilson, Mr. Anderson is very angry right now. You should come back another day to see Hayden and Spring."
Hearing this, Susan saw that Hayden and Spring's little faces were flushed with anxiety. Knowing that arguing here wouldn't be good for the children, she quickly soothed them, "Hayden, Spring, I'll come back another day to see you. You have to be good, okay?"
"What are you dawdling for? Take them away now!" Seb impatiently shouted at Kathy and Mary.
Mary, frightened, quickly stepped forward and picked up Spring. Ignoring Spring's cries, she turned and walked back towards the villa.
Hayden was older, and Kathy couldn't carry him as he threw a tantrum, so she held his arm and coaxed, "Hayden, be good, let's go back inside!"
"No, I want Mommy! Let go of me." Hayden continued to struggle stubbornly.
Seeing this, Susan quickly advised, "Hayden, don't be disobedient. Go back with Kathy. I'll find a way to see you again."
"But what if Daddy doesn't let you in?" Hayden was now crying sadly.
Seeing Hayden's tear-streaked, reluctant face, Susan's eyes also welled up.
Although she felt very distressed, Susan knew this was not the time to challenge Seb's authority. Otherwise, Hayden would surely suffer.
So, the next moment, Susan had to scold Hayden. "Hayden, if you don't behave, I won't like you anymore and won't come to see you."
"Mommy!" Hearing Susan's words, Hayden was heartbroken.
Susan couldn't bear to look at Hayden's big, tear-streaked eyes. She clutched the fabric over her chest, feeling as if something was tearing at her heart.
"Be good, go back with Kathy. I'll definitely come to see you next time, okay?" Susan could only coax Hayden.
"Mommy, you have to keep your promise!" Hayden said, then was led back to the villa by Kathy.
In this situation, Seb's hands were already clenched into fists, his face dark and gloomy, his brows tightly furrowed like a ticking time bomb, ready to explode at any moment.
Susan watched Hayden's reluctant gaze until his figure disappeared inside the villa, and her heart shattered.
