Chapter 1289 Your Tie-Tying Skills Are Getting Better and Better
Hearing this, Azalea furrowed her brows and thought for a long time before saying, "I know Daryl is defending that awful woman Cecilia, which is why he claims the child is his. He's usually so sharp and capable, but when it comes to Cecilia, his IQ drops to zero."
Seeing Azalea so distressed, Skylar said, "Godmother, don't worry too much. Daryl has always had his own opinions. I don't think he'll completely lose his judgment."
"What judgment can he have when it comes to that awful woman Cecilia? She's too beautiful and young, and she used to be entangled with other men. That child might even be one of theirs. But now Daryl is stubbornly going his own way and won't listen to me at all. What should I do?" Azalea said, troubled.
At this moment, Skylar suddenly smiled and said, "Godmother, don't worry. The passion between men and women is strongest in the first few years. As time goes on, men care less. Besides, Daryl is such an outstanding man. What kind of woman can't he find out there? When he gets a bit older, he'll definitely want his own child. By then, Cecilia won't be able to keep him."
Azalea replied, "But how many years will that take? By the time Daryl is an old man, it'll be too late to have children."
"There's no other good solution right now. Maybe..." Skylar paused deliberately, looking at Azalea.
"Do you have an idea?" Azalea asked, full of hope, staring at Skylar.
The next moment, Skylar said, "Since we can't pull Daryl back, we need to make Cecilia give up. If she gives up, Daryl can't force her to stay with him, right? If she gives up, you and Daryl's relationship can be preserved. That's the best plan."
"You're right. I need to make that awful woman Cecilia back off," Azalea said, suddenly enlightened by Skylar's words.
"But I don't think Cecilia will give up so easily. Leaving aside the Fields family's reputation and wealth, Daryl is such a catch. She won't find another man like him easily. Godmother, you must be careful!" Skylar added, fanning the flames.
Azalea squinted and said, "She's just a young woman with little experience. She thinks she can compete with me? She's overestimating herself!"
Noticing Azalea's determination, Skylar quickly said, "Godmother, you just don't want to stoop to her level. Otherwise, how could Cecilia be a match for you?"
"Just wait and see. This time, I'll make sure she leaves Daryl on her own. Skylar, I know you're a good girl and have always had feelings for Daryl. Once I get rid of her, you and Daryl still have a chance to get back together," Azalea said, suddenly grabbing Skylar's hand.
Hearing this, a glint of excitement flashed in Skylar's eyes, and she shyly said, "Godmother, I'm your goddaughter now. I don't think about anything else. Besides, Daryl doesn't love me."
"It's all because of that awful woman Cecilia. Without her, you two would have been together long ago. I might even have a grandchild by now!" Azalea said regretfully.
Skylar lowered her head to sip her coffee, a satisfied smile playing on her lips.
That night, in the quiet of the late hours, Azalea sat on the couch watching TV, with Daryl sitting beside her. The living room was empty except for the two of them.
"Mom, have some juice. It's freshly squeezed," Daryl said, offering a glass of juice to Azalea in a flattering manner.
Azalea glanced at the juice Daryl handed her, her lips curling into a forced smile as she took it. "Being so attentive, are you going to the office tomorrow and won't be able to play the knight in shining armor all the time?"
Hearing this, Daryl chuckled. "Nothing escapes your eyes, Mom."
Giving her son a sidelong glance, Azalea sat up straight and said, "Just say what you want to say!"
Daryl said with a smile, "Mom, a harmonious family brings prosperity. I won't separate from Cecilia, but I also want to be a good son to you. So please, be generous and don't hold grudges against Cecilia. She's been feeling really down lately. She's young, and if she takes care of herself, she might still be able to have children."
Daryl was being very humble and sincere, fearing that Azalea would remain stubborn.
But to Daryl's surprise, Azalea let out a long sigh and said, "I've thought it over these past few days. Children have their own blessings. My efforts to look out for you are thankless. I might as well take a break and find some enjoyment for myself."
Hearing this, Daryl was momentarily speechless, feeling a pang of guilt.
Azalea continued, "Times have changed. You young people have your own ideas. We elders shouldn't interfere too much. Since you're so determined, I won't stop you."
Hearing this, Daryl was overjoyed. "Mom, does this mean you won't make things difficult for Cecilia anymore?"
Azalea gave her son a sharp look. "In your eyes, your wife is pitiful and gentle, and your mom is just a troublemaker, right?"
"Mom, how could I think that? You and Dad built everything from scratch. Without your support, Dad couldn't have founded Fields Group. You're the backbone of our family!" Daryl said, holding Azalea's hand and flattering her.
Hearing this, Azalea's expression softened a bit. "I haven't told your dad about Cecilia's infertility. His health isn't good, and knowing would only worry him. So don't mention it to him."
"You're so considerate, Mom," Daryl quickly nodded.
Finally, Azalea patted Daryl's hand. "Go to the office with peace of mind. I'll treat Cecilia well from now on. She's actually quite pitiful."
"Thank you, Mom," Daryl said, a relieved smile spreading across his face.
The next morning, Daryl stood in front of the bedroom closet, looking down at Cecilia as she carefully tied his tie.
Cecilia stood on tiptoe, looping the tie around his neck. Her delicate hands moved skillfully, and soon the tie was neatly knotted around Daryl's neck.
He walked to the full-length mirror and looked at the tie. Daryl couldn't help but touch it and said, "You're getting better at tying ties."
