Chapter 561 He's Back
Carol turned and walked to the sofa, sat down, and sneered. "Don't call me Mom!"
Susan knew that Carol's attitude towards her would not be good, so she didn't mind.
The next moment, she turned and walked up to Carol, sincerely saying, "I know what my mom did was wrong. She has realized her mistake, so she won't see Dad again until everything is settled."
Hearing this, Carol immediately raised an eyebrow and said, "Settled? What do you mean by settled? Are you suggesting that everything will magically be alright once I divorce Todd?"
"Whatever you say. In any case, my mom won't see Dad while he's still married. That's her basic principle," Susan replied.
Carol immediately threw her head back and let out a cold laugh.
Carol's laugh was menacing, making Susan feel a chill down her spine.
Then, Carol suddenly slapped the table and angrily shouted, "You and your mother are quite a pair! One seduces a married man, and the other tries to paint her homewrecking mother as a woman of principle! Unbelievable!"
Susan couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed. Although there were reasons behind it, Carol was indeed not wrong.
Then, Susan sincerely said, "I apologize on behalf of my mom. It's all our fault, but things have come to this point, and there's no way to fix it. I'm here to ask you to stop. Leave my mother alone. She's older, and this... this is taking a toll on her."
Susan tried to use a negotiating tone, knowing they were in the wrong.
This time, before Carol could speak, Rylee jumped to her feet, her face contorted with fury. "Older?" she shrieked. "She uses her age as an excuse now? Where was that excuse when she was busy stealing my father? Some frail old woman she is! And my mother is older! Why don't you worry about her stress levels for once? Your mother made her bed, now she has to lie in it! She deserves everything she gets!"
Rylee's words made Carol frown.
Susan stared at Rylee and asked, "So, everything that's happened recently was your doing?"
Hearing this, Rylee realized she had been exposed and was momentarily speechless.
Carol, however, sneered and said, "So what if I had someone do it? Your mom isn't innocent, is she?"
Carol wasn't afraid of trouble, so she simply admitted it.
Seeing how arrogant they were, Susan realized that begging wouldn't change their minds.
So, Susan sternly said, "After all, there's still the law. What you're doing is illegal. Someone could get hurt. Someone could die. And then what?"
Hearing this, Carol laughed and said, "Don't worry, I'm not going to kill anyone. That's not my style. I just want your mother to understand the consequences of her actions. A little lesson in morality, if you will."
Susan held back her anger and said, "She's already learned her lesson. Please, let it go."
Carol hesitated for a moment, then sneered. "I can let it go, but your mom has to apologize to me in person and write a guarantee that she'll never see Todd again!"
Hearing this condition, Susan frowned.
Carol glanced at Susan and sneered. "If she can't do that, then don't bother me again!"
Susan was momentarily speechless, not knowing what to say.
At this moment, Rylee walked over, pushed Susan, and said, "Didn't you hear? You're not welcome here. Leave now!"
Helpless, facing the fierce Rylee, Susan could only turn and leave in disappointment.
Actually, Susan had long known that Carol wouldn't give up. She was just too worried about Catherine and had to try.
Susan walked out of the villa gate, deeply troubled, worried that if Carol took any more action, Catherine would be terrified.
She was looking down and not paying attention to the road when she bumped into someone wearing a black coat!
"Sorry, I..." Susan instinctively apologized, then looked up.
Seeing the person in front of her, Susan was stunned!
The person also frowned upon seeing Susan.
Susan never expected to run into him as soon as she walked out. It was so sudden.
After not seeing him for many days, Susan noticed that he looked well and was dressed neatly, back to his former confident self.
Seeing Seb suddenly, Susan felt a wave of grievance, followed by relief that he was finally back.
"What are you doing here?" Seb was the first to break the silence.
"I..." Susan was about to answer.
Seb suddenly noticed the five finger marks on Susan's face.
"What happened to your face?" Seb frowned and then stepped forward, grabbing Susan's shoulders.
Seeing the concern in his eyes, the grievances Susan had been holding onto for days vanished completely.
She touched her face and said, "It's nothing."
"Nonsense, who hit you?" Seb asked, then looked up at the villa and frowned. "Was it my mom?"
"No," Susan shook her head.
Hearing this, Seb frowned and stared at Susan.
Susan didn't want to cause a conflict between Seb and Carol or Rylee because of her and Catherine. Carol and Rylee already hated her to the core. Rylee had just said that Carol transferred half of her shares in Prosperity Group to Rylee because Seb refused to divorce her. The property was secondary; it showed that Seb's relationship with them was already strained.
"When did you come back?" Susan asked, looking up.
Hearing this question, Seb hesitated for a moment, then patted her shoulder and said, "Let's talk about it later."
Then he turned to Leon behind him and said, "Take Susan home."
"Yes," Leon nodded.
Susan knew Seb was here to see Carol, so she didn't say much and accepted Seb's arrangement, reluctantly following Leon.
Watching Leon drive away, Seb frowned slightly, then reached out and pressed the doorbell in front of the villa gate.
