Chapter 352 What Exactly Is Their Relationship

In the next few days, Susan went all out cleaning the house and packing up orders from her online store. She didn't give herself a single break. By the time she hit the sack each night, she was totally wiped out.

This whole "keep busy" strategy was working like a charm; at least she wasn't stuck in her head all the time.

One morning, as soon as Susan walked into the Group Six office, Ingrid came up to her with a grin and said, "Hey Susan, Linda's back from her vacay. You better get that doc signed by her ASAP, or it's gonna mess with our progress."

Susan nodded. "On it."

She walked into her office and stood there for a sec, kinda dazed.

Linda had been on vacation for three days. Looked like her and Seb's trip to Azure Haven didn't get extended. They must've had a blast.

Shaking her head, Susan grabbed the document that needed Linda's John Hancock. Without overthinking, she headed out.

When she got to Linda's office, Linda's secretary, Hannah, stood up and smiled. "Ms. Wilson, here for Linda's signature?"

"Yep," Susan nodded. Then, glancing at the door, she said, "I heard Linda's back from her trip."

Hannah nodded. "Yeah, she's back, but today Pioneer Accounting Firm and Prosperity Group have a big contract to sign, so Linda's in the conference room."

"Prosperity Group?" Susan frowned.

Seb was working with Linda?

So, in those three days, Linda and Seb not only talked about their relationship but also discussed work?

Hannah smiled. "You probably don't know, but Mr. Anderson from Prosperity Group handed a huge case to our firm. Several other top firms were gunning for it. Mr. Anderson must've done it because of Linda. Even the general manager is all about Linda now. With this case, our bonuses this year are gonna be sweet."

Susan gripped the document tighter as she heard this.

She knew Seb well enough to know he wouldn't mix personal stuff with business. Pioneer Accounting Firm was big, but there were bigger fish in Maple Valley. If it was just about merit, they might not have landed the case. Seb giving them the business meant he really valued Linda. He must be serious this time.

But it made sense. Linda had brains, looks, and political connections. She was a perfect match for Seb.

Seeing Susan quiet for a while, Hannah thought she was worried about getting the signature. She suggested, "Ms. Wilson, if you're in a rush, why not head to the conference room? The signing ceremony is at ten, and it's only nine-thirty now. Linda should have some time."

"Okay, thanks," Susan said and headed to the conference room.

Susan braced herself. Even if she found out today that Seb was gonna marry Linda, she had to stay cool. This day was bound to come. Seb would get married eventually. If it wasn't Linda today, it'd be someone else later. She just had to do her job well.

Because of a space crunch, the conference room got set up in a big room on the terrace. It was pretty swanky inside, but since it was out of the way, no one really went there unless there was a meeting.

When Susan got to the conference room door, she saw it was slightly open. Just as she was about to push it open, she heard a voice she knew all too well. "Linda, can you just listen to me for a sec?"

It was a deep male voice, one that made Susan's scalp tingle. Her hand froze mid-air.

Seb came personally to sign the contract today?

Susan couldn't help but smirk. For a signing ceremony like this, it was rare for the CEO to show up. Usually, a VP or a department manager would handle it. Seb was really rolling out the red carpet for Linda.

Peeking through the crack, Susan saw the conference room was all decked out with flowers and red wine on the oval table. Clearly, Linda was taking this signing ceremony seriously too.

Susan thought about turning around and leaving. She didn't care about Seb and Linda's current situation. Plus, barging in now would be super awkward for everyone. From what she could see, it was just Seb and Linda in there. They must've kicked everyone else out to talk privately. No wonder the terrace was empty.

Just as she was about to leave, she heard Linda's crying voice, which made her stop in her tracks.

"What else do you want to say? Are you gonna tell me it's impossible between us?" Linda's voice was all choked up.

Susan was confused. Why was Linda crying? Shouldn't she be happy now that she got what she wanted? What was Linda's deal? Was she just playing hard to get?

"Linda, didn't we agree? I promised to go on vacation with you to Azure Haven, and then we'd just be friends. Why are you going back on your word now? This isn't like the decisive you at work." Seb's voice had a hint of frustration and helplessness.

"Seb, I really love you. I thought if you spent time getting to know me, you'd definitely fall for me. I thought after this vacation, you'd have feelings for me." Linda was now full-on sobbing.

Susan, listening outside, was stunned.

What was going on? Weren't Seb and Linda already a thing? So Linda hadn't won Seb over yet?

From their convo, it seemed like Seb had zero romantic interest in Linda. But if that was the case, why did Seb send her flowers every day, go on vacation with her, and give her such a big business deal? Was Seb just stringing Linda along? Was he just flirting and not taking responsibility?

At that moment, Seb frowned and said, "Linda, why don't you get it? Even if I spent a year with you, I wouldn't fall in love with you."

Hearing this, Linda got even more emotional. She rushed into Seb's arms and said desperately, "No, it's because you won't give me a chance. If you spend time with me, you'll definitely fall in love with me!"
