Chapter 1008 A Heart-Wrenching Valentine's Day

"But they work together at Johnson Corporation every day. I'm just worried Leon might let his guard down and fall for her tricks," Isabella said, frowning.

"That Bronte, just to get close to Leon, humbled herself and worked as a low-level employee at Prosperity Group for years. Even then, Leon didn't give her a chance. Now that Leon has you and Milo, he definitely won't give her any opportunity. Don't you think so?" Susan said with a smile.

With just a few words, Susan eased Isabella's worries. The next moment, Isabella smiled and said, "The clothes in that boutique up ahead look nice. Wanna check it out?"

"Sure," Susan nodded.

Inside the boutique, Susan spotted a pair of exquisitely crafted cufflinks.

"These cufflinks are nice. I'm tired of buying clothes, ties, and watches every year. How about getting a pair of cufflinks instead?" Susan said, fiddling with the cufflinks in her hand.

Isabella took a closer look and also found the cufflinks to be quite good, so she picked out a pair as well. In the end, they each chose a pair.

After getting home, Isabella tried the cufflinks on all of Leon's different shirts before hiding them away.

With Valentine's Day two days away, she planned to give him the cufflinks and was curious about his gift for her.

The night before, Leon said he had a business dinner and wouldn't be home.

Around nine o'clock, Isabella had just put Milo to sleep when she heard the door open and Leon's steady footsteps approaching.

At that moment, Isabella was lying on the bed in a camisole nightgown. Hearing Leon's footsteps, she smiled to herself, thinking, 'Tomorrow is Valentine's Day. Maybe he'll give me my gift tonight, and perhaps we'll have a passionate night.'

Seeing Isabella's pose, Leon walked to the bed, bent down, and kissed her neck, smiling. "Is Milo asleep?"

"Yes," Isabella nodded.

Leon then took off his suit, hung it on the rack, loosened his tie, and smiled. "You look so tempting, but I'm afraid I'll disappoint you tonight."

"What do you mean?" Isabella blushed at his words.

She quickly sat up.

Although the bedroom was dimly lit, Isabella could clearly see Leon wearing a light blue shirt and a black-and-white striped tie.

She was all too familiar with that shirt and tie, and now they were on Leon.

Isabella's heart tightened, and she stared at Leon, afraid she was seeing things.

But after another look, the shirt and tie were still the same.

At that moment, Isabella felt a wave of disappointment, and the light in her eyes dimmed.

Leon didn't notice Isabella's dejected expression. He walked over, pinched her chin, and smiled. "I visited several branch offices today and had an unavoidable business dinner tonight. I'm exhausted. But tomorrow, we'll celebrate together, and I'll make sure you have an unforgettable Valentine's Day!"

Isabella couldn't hear a word Leon was saying. Her mind was racing with images of Leon and Bronte together.

She never imagined that Bronte's boyfriend was Leon, or that the shirt and tie Bronte bought that day were for him.

No wonder Bronte was so smug and arrogant that day. Turns out she and Leon had been close all along.

Isabella was so angry her hands trembled. He said he had an unavoidable business dinner tonight, but it was actually a romantic dinner with Bronte, wasn't it?

She had been planning how to celebrate with him tomorrow and when to give him his gift, but he had already celebrated Valentine's Day early with someone else.

Isabella looked at Leon and said with a sarcastic tone, "What kind of unavoidable business dinner? A dinner with a woman?"

Seeing Isabella's upset expression, Leon frowned and asked, "What's wrong? Are you upset because I came home late?"

Their eyes met in the dim light. Leon's eyes were calm and composed, showing no signs of guilt.

Isabella felt a deep sadness, thinking, 'He's really good at pretending. Not a hint of guilt in his eyes. Maybe he thinks it's normal for a man to have a mistress, especially a wealthy man like him.'

Isabella knew that even if she confronted him now, he wouldn't admit it. So, she decided to hold back for now.

She glanced at Leon and said, "Is this a new shirt you bought today? You weren't wearing this when you left this morning, and the tie is different too. I don't remember buying you this shirt and tie."

Leon looked down at his shirt, hesitated, and said, "Oh, an employee accidentally spilled coffee on my shirt today. I had Royce buy this shirt and tie for me. Do you not like it? If you don't, I won't wear it again."

Hearing this, Isabella smiled coldly. She thought, 'No wonder he's so calm. He has his excuse ready, speaking so naturally and confidently.'

Isabella then sneered. "I don't like it much, but if you don't wear it, it would be a waste of someone's effort, wouldn't it?"

"What? Even though Royce had someone buy it, the company will reimburse it according to the receipt," Leon said, puzzled.

"I'm going to take a shower!" Isabella knew that no matter how she hinted, she wouldn't get anything out of Leon. His psychological resilience was too strong. Even if he did something wrong, he wouldn't feel guilty. Isabella felt like she never really knew him.

After speaking, Isabella got out of bed, put on her shoes, and headed to the bathroom.

"What's wrong today? Who upset you?" Leon shook his head helplessly as he watched her walk away.

As soon as Isabella closed the bathroom door, tears streamed down her face.

She leaned against the cold glass door, her heart aching. She never imagined that the argument with Bronte in the boutique that day, which she thought had left Bronte humiliated, would end up causing her so much pain.

Leon said he had no romantic feelings for Bronte, that they were just childhood acquaintances, and she had believed him.
