Chapter 1246 The CEO's Wife
Azalea stared at her son in disbelief. "What did you just say? Marry that woman? Are you out of your mind?"
"We don't approve of this marriage!" Isaac, who had been silent until now, declared firmly.
Seeing their resolute attitudes, Daryl frowned but remained steadfast. "Dad, Mom, I'm not here to ask for your permission. I'm just letting you know. Cecilia and I are getting married, and that's final."
Azalea was the first to react, smashing a cup from the coffee table onto the floor.
The cup shattered instantly, water spilling everywhere.
"You ungrateful child, are you trying to drive your mother and me to our graves?" Isaac was equally furious.
At this moment, Elijah quickly stood up to mediate. "Dad, Mom, calm down. Daryl getting married is a happy occasion. Haven't you always wanted him to settle down and start a family?"
"A perfectly good match with the Tate family, and you just throw it away. If you found someone better, fine, but now you're bringing home a woman who doesn't match our status. Are you insane?" Azalea cried as she spoke.
Daryl sat on the couch, silent, clearly showing his determination.
Seeing that their parents couldn't be swayed, Elijah turned to Daryl. "Daryl, you should at least get their blessing. Apologize to them, and maybe they'll consider it."
Daryl remained silent, making Isaac and Azalea even angrier.
Isaac suddenly spoke up. "Fine, if you're so determined, then I will immediately remove you from your position as CEO of Fields Corporation. Don't expect to get a single cent of my inheritance!"
Hearing this, Daryl didn't back down. Instead, he stood up calmly. "Dad, even if I end up with nothing, I'm still marrying Cecilia."
With that, Daryl turned and went upstairs.
"You ungrateful child!" Isaac angrily pounded the armrest of his wheelchair.
But Daryl didn't look back this time.
Isaac then turned to his younger son. "Tomorrow, you will start working at Fields Corporation and take over as CEO!"
Elijah quickly waved his hands. "Dad, you know I'm not cut out for that. If you force me, Fields Corporation will go bankrupt. I have plans with friends, so I have to go!"
With that, Elijah turned and bolted.
"Elijah!" Azalea called out, but he was already gone.
After both sons had left, Azalea cried, "What did I do to deserve this? One son is rebellious, and the other is useless!"
Isaac looked dejected and helpless.
On her first day at work, Cecilia was already immersed in her busy schedule.
During a break, Marcella pulled Cecilia into the break room for some gossip.
"I heard your boyfriend flew to Sylvanor to rescue you. I'm so jealous!" Marcella shared the news she had heard.
Cecilia smiled. "If it weren't for him, I'd probably be fish food in Sylvanor."
"The colleague who went with you said Daryl is so handsome and cool, and he was so worried about you. You must have saved the galaxy in your past life!" Marcella teased.
"I feel like I did save the galaxy," Cecilia laughed, her mind filled with thoughts of Daryl.
Marcella suddenly noticed the sparkling diamond ring on Cecilia's left hand and grabbed her hand. "Wow, that's stunning! Are you getting married?"
Cecilia looked at the ring and smiled. "I accepted his proposal, but we haven't set a date yet."
Marcella was envious. "If he proposed, the wedding can't be far off."
Cecilia frowned. "His parents don't approve of our marriage, so it might not be that soon."
Marcella scoffed. "Those rich families always want a perfect match. But don't worry, Daryl seems to really care about you. Just hold on to him tight and save some money for yourself. You'll be fine."
Cecilia smiled but was worried about the conflict between Daryl and his parents.
During lunch break, Daryl had arranged to meet Cecilia at a café near her office.
When Cecilia walked into the café, she saw Daryl sitting by the window, busy with some brochures and a notebook.
"You've been here long?" Cecilia asked as she sat across from him, noticing the steaming plate of pasta and steak in front of her.
"I've been here for two hours. I ordered you some steak and pasta. Go ahead and eat," Daryl said without looking up.
"You're not eating?" Cecilia asked, frowning.
"I had a late breakfast. I'm not hungry," Daryl replied, still focused on his notes.
Cecilia took a few bites of her steak and then asked, "You've been here for two hours. Didn't you go to work today?"
Daryl finally looked up at her and said casually, "Starting today, I don't have to go to work anymore."
"What do you mean?" Cecilia was confused.
Daryl took her hand seriously. "Starting today, I'm no longer the CEO of Fields Corporation. So when you marry me, you won't be the CEO's wife. Be prepared for that."
Cecilia smiled. "Really? That's the best news I've heard all year. How about we get a bottle of wine to celebrate?"
Daryl tilted his head and smiled. "Your fiancé just lost his job, and you want to celebrate?"
"Now you can spend more time with me. I don't care about you being a CEO," Cecilia said, holding his hand.
"Alright, I can be with you all the time now," Daryl said, smiling.
"By the way, why aren't you the CEO anymore? Did you have a fight with your family?" Cecilia asked, realizing there must be a reason.
Daryl hesitated, then squeezed her hand. "I told you, let me handle it. You just focus on being my bride."
