Chapter 1100 Lost
On Saturday, Cecilia's phone suddenly rang.
Cecilia picked up her phone and saw an unfamiliar number. Without thinking much, she answered it.
"Cecilia, it's Skylar." As soon as the call connected, a sweet voice came from the other end.
Hearing this, Cecilia's hand holding the phone froze.
Although Skylar had been very enthusiastic towards her that day, Cecilia really didn't expect her to actually call.
"Cecilia, are you listening?" Not hearing Cecilia speak for a while, Skylar asked.
"Yes. The signal isn't very good. Hi, Skylar," The next moment, Cecilia snapped out of it and quickly responded.
"Cecilia, I'm sorry. Daryl has been taking me around these past few days, so I haven't had a chance to find you. Today is Saturday, how about we go shopping and have a meal together?" Skylar enthusiastically invited.
Hearing the first two sentences, Cecilia's heart tightened.
No wonder he had only come back once these days; he really had been with Skylar every day.
Feeling down, Cecilia naturally wouldn't agree to Skylar's invitation.
So, the next moment, Cecilia politely declined. "I'm sorry, Skylar, I have a lot of homework to do."
But Skylar insisted, "You can do your homework tomorrow, it's Sunday, or you can do it tonight. I came all the way from back home, are you really going to refuse a fellow countrywoman? In this foreign land, where else can I find another girl to go shopping and eat with me? Just give me your address, and I'll come find you!"
Hearing that Skylar was going to come find her, Cecilia quickly relented. "No need, just give me an address, and we'll meet there!"
She certainly couldn't let Skylar come over; if she did, everything would be exposed.
"Alright, I'll send you the address right away. See you there!" With that, Skylar hung up.
After putting down the phone, Cecilia felt a mix of emotions.
She really didn't want to go shopping with Skylar, but at this point, she had no choice but to go along with it.
Cecilia put on a pair of faded jeans, a white shirt, and white sneakers, tied her hair into a high ponytail, and left the house without any makeup.
Her wardrobe was full of beautiful clothes, but Cecilia didn't want to compete with Skylar.
Because there was no comparison between them; Skylar was a wealthy heiress, while she was just a student being supported by a rich man—one was noble, the other humble.
Half an hour later, Cecilia and Skylar met at the agreed location.
"Cecilia, Daryl said this mall is nice, shall we go in and take a look?" Skylar warmly took Cecilia's hand when she saw her.
Cecilia was a bit overwhelmed by Skylar's enthusiasm, because it seemed like they didn't know each other very well.
Maybe it was because they were in a foreign country, or maybe Skylar was just a very warm person. Cecilia didn't have time to think much and was pulled into the mall by Skylar.
Skylar was a strong shopper and quickly bought a few expensive pieces of clothing.
Soon, Skylar pulled Cecilia to the men's section.
Looking at the branded men's clothing, Cecilia found them indeed pleasing to the eye, with innovative designs and excellent craftsmanship, but the prices were exorbitant.
Skylar picked out a suit, two shirts, and a tie, and asked Cecilia, "Cecilia, do you think Daryl would look good in these clothes?"
Cecilia had already guessed that Skylar was buying clothes for Daryl, but when she actually said it, Cecilia still felt a pang in her heart.
A woman buying these kinds of clothes for a man indicated that their relationship was very close.
At that moment, Cecilia wondered, 'Does Daryl and Skylar have sex?' She admitted she was being narrow-minded, but she couldn't help thinking about it.
Then, Cecilia forced a smile and replied, "These clothes are already very nice, and Mr. Fields is so tall and handsome, he would definitely look great in them!"
As soon as she said it, Cecilia felt she had become quite eloquent, complimenting both the clothes and Daryl. But she was telling the truth.
Hearing this, Skylar smiled joyfully. "I also think Daryl would look great in them!"
With that, Skylar handed the clothes to the sales assistant, saying, "Please wrap these up for me!"
The sales assistant took the clothes with a beaming smile and went to process the payment with Skylar's credit card.
Cecilia waited idly on the side, feeling very downhearted.
Later, Skylar dragged Cecilia to buy some clothes for middle-aged and elderly people.
Cecilia initially thought Skylar was buying them for her own parents, but then Skylar mentioned that these clothes were for Daryl's parents.
Helpless, Cecilia could only give Skylar some advice. They were already at the stage of buying clothes for each other's parents, which meant they had long been approved by both families.
A few hours later, Skylar finally finished shopping.
Exhausted, Skylar and Cecilia found a café, ordered two coffees and some pastries, and took a break.
While drinking coffee, Skylar was very talkative, sharing everything about her and Daryl.
"Cecilia, you and Daryl go to the same school, didn't you know each other before?" Skylar suddenly asked.
Hearing this, Cecilia hesitated for a moment, then quickly said, "Well, our university has a lot of international students from Luminara. Besides, Mr. Fields and I are not in the same major, so we don't know each other well. But since we're in the same school, he looks familiar. Maybe we've seen each other, but we didn't know who the other was."
"Well, I see." Skylar nodded at Cecilia's words.
Then, Skylar rested her chin on her hand, smiling. "Actually, both our families want us to get married soon, but Daryl always thinks I'm still a little girl. I guess he loves me too much. I'll just wait until he gets his PhD."
"He must love you very much," Cecilia said, feeling a deep sense of loss in her heart.
Hearing this, Skylar smiled. "I don't know how much he loves me, but I've been here for over ten days, and he's been with me the whole time, neglecting his work and studies."
Hearing this, Cecilia's eyes showed a deep sense of loss. Afraid that Skylar might notice something, she quickly lowered her head and pretended to stir her coffee with a spoon.
