Chapter 1068 Jumping Out the Window and Running Away

Cecilia was so upset about being deprived of her right to go to school that she didn't even feel like eating. She picked up her backpack and was about to head out the door.

Just then, the doorbell suddenly rang.

Cecilia was taken aback, thinking, 'Who could it be at this time? Could it be Daryl coming to make sure I don't go to school? But that doesn't make sense; Daryl has a key, so he wouldn't need to ring the doorbell.'

The next moment, Cecilia quickly put down her backpack and ran to open the door.

When she opened the door, she saw Douglas standing outside.

"Ms. Thorne, hello," Douglas greeted Cecilia.

Hearing this, Cecilia looked at Douglas curiously and asked, "Is something wrong?"

At this moment, Douglas stepped aside, and Cecilia suddenly saw a chubby woman in her thirties standing behind him. The woman was wearing a colorful headscarf and equally colorful clothes.

Douglas introduced her to Cecilia, "This is Freya, a housekeeper Mr. Fields hired for you."

Freya Stewart greeted Cecilia with a friendly smile, "Hello, Ms. Thorne."

As she greeted her, Freya winked at Cecilia and shrugged her shoulders.

Seeing Freya, Cecilia frowned and then said to Douglas, "I don't need a housekeeper."

Cecilia was not used to having someone take care of her, especially a housekeeper, so she wanted to refuse.

However, Douglas smiled and said, "Ms. Thorne, I'm sorry, but this is Mr. Fields' order, and I can't change it. Also, Mr. Fields specifically instructed that you are not allowed to leave the house without his permission."

"What?" Cecilia was stunned upon hearing this.

The next moment, Douglas said, "From now on, if you need anything, like groceries, you can ask Freya to do it. I advise you not to anger Mr. Fields."

Douglas hesitated a bit with the last sentence, but it was clearly a well-intentioned reminder.

At this moment, Cecilia finally understood.

Daryl hired a housekeeper not to lighten her household chores but to have someone watch over her and monitor her.

Cecilia was very angry, but there was nothing she could do.

The next moment, Cecilia glared at Douglas, turned around, and stormed back into the villa.

Cecilia knew that with Freya around, she definitely wouldn't be able to go to school.

Sitting on the couch, Cecilia watched coldly as Freya brought in her luggage.

After putting down her luggage, Freya diligently started cleaning the house and chatting with Cecilia.

"Ms. Thorne, what kind of food do you like? I can cook many Luminara dishes. If you like any desserts, just let me know; I can make them too. If you have any special care instructions for your expensive clothes, just tell me. And if there's anything you're not satisfied with, just let me know, and I can take care of it," Freya chattered on and on in Cecilia's ear.

Cecilia, however, was contemplating what she should do.

She couldn't be confined here every day; she had to find a way to attend her classes.

Cecilia's eyes flashed, and then she stood up and said to Freya, "I have a paper to write, so don't disturb me. I'll come down for lunch at twelve. Please make me some soup and stir-fry two vegetables."

"Okay." Freya quickly nodded.

Cecilia glanced at Freya and then went upstairs with her backpack.

Cecilia spent the entire morning reading in her bedroom, and Freya indeed did not disturb her. At twelve o'clock sharp, Cecilia went downstairs for lunch.

At this time, the dining table in the kitchen was set with two stir-fried vegetables, a soup, and a meat dish.

After Cecilia sat down, Freya placed the utensils in front of her and said, "Ms. Thorne, I thought your meal was too light, so I added a meat dish for better nutrition."

"Okay, you're very thoughtful," Cecilia didn't forget to praise Freya.

Then, Cecilia lowered her head and started eating.

After she was full, Cecilia instructed Freya, "Freya, I need to write my paper this afternoon, so don't disturb me. I'll come down for dinner at seven, and keep it simple."

After Freya nodded, Cecilia went upstairs.

In the afternoon, Freya was very obedient and did not disturb her. The dinner was also simple but delicious.

The next morning, after breakfast, Cecilia said to Freya with a stern face, "I need to write my paper this morning, so don't disturb me. For lunch, I want a steak. Please go to the nearby supermarket to buy one and cook it."

"Okay, no problem." Freya nodded happily. After all, they only felt valuable when their employer gave them tasks to do.

After nodding, Cecilia turned and went upstairs.

Once in her room, Cecilia quickly locked the door and took out the long strips of cloth she had prepared the night before. She had made them by tearing up her bedsheets.

Fortunately, the villa only had two floors. By tying the cloth to the bedpost and lowering it out the window, she could climb down and escape to go to class.

After securing the cloth, Cecilia checked its strength and found it to be reliable.

Then, she threw her coat and backpack out the window and slowly climbed down using the cloth.

When she stood on the lawn outside the villa, Cecilia looked up at the window with a sense of accomplishment.

She quickly put on her coat, slung her backpack over her shoulder, and ran off.

That afternoon, Cecilia climbed back up to the second floor using the cloth and came downstairs at twelve o'clock sharp.

At this time, Freya had already placed a delicious steak on the dining table.

While eating the steak, Cecilia suddenly spaced out for a moment.

Daryl also liked steak, and during the few months they were together, she had made it for him once.

Using this method, Cecilia managed to sneak out to attend her classes for several days without Freya noticing. During these days, Daryl hadn't come back either, which made Cecilia a bit smug.

But amidst her smugness, she also felt a bit worried. This wasn't a long-term solution after all.
