Chapter 552 Indifference
For several days in a row, Seb hadn't come home.
Susan felt very conflicted and wanted to call him, but the thought of his cold silence held her back.
Susan had no mood to work in the office.
At this moment, Isabella pushed the door open and walked in.
Seeing Susan staring blankly at the computer, Isabella frowned and said, "What's wrong with you these past few days? Distracted, daydreaming...another fight with Seb?"
Susan sighed, rubbing her weary face. "You know me too well.
Isabella walked over and sat in the chair opposite Susan's desk. "It's normal for couples to argue. But you two aren't kids anymore. Days without making up? Really? What was it this time, jealousy over some work rival? Or maybe......a little green-eyed monster on your end?"
Hearing Isabella's teasing, Susan frowned and said, "Nothing quite so dramatic."
"Then it's about your relationship with his mother?" Isabella guessed.
Susan glanced at Isabella. Although Isabella was a friend she could talk to about anything, she couldn't share such embarrassing family matters with her.
So, the next moment, Susan nodded. "Sort of."
Hearing this, Isabella said, "So it's that old witch again. But what can she do now? You and Seb are officially married and have two kids. She can't shake your position in the Anderson family."
Faced with Isabella's nagging, Susan remained silent. She had no one to talk to about her troubles and could only slowly digest them herself.
Seeing Susan not speaking, Isabella said, "Susan, let me tell you, Seb is Seb, and Seb's mom is Seb's mom. You don't need to argue with his mom. Winning Seb's heart is the key."
"He doesn't even talk to me now. How can I win his heart?" Susan looked out the window with sad eyes.
She felt very uncomfortable. He didn't even care about her or the kids anymore. He could go several days without coming home, not even to change clothes. He probably had Leon buy him new clothes outside. It seemed he wouldn't be coming back anytime soon.
"If he doesn't talk to you, you can go find him!" Isabella said urgently.
Hearing this, Susan met Isabella's eyes.
After a moment of hesitation, Susan said with concern, "Is it appropriate for me to go to his company?"
"Why? You're his wife, not some mistress. It's perfectly normal for you to go to his company!" Isabella urged Susan.
Susan lowered her head and thought for a moment. Although she had concerns, she couldn't bear the longing and guilt she felt for him over the past few days.
Actually, she hadn't handled the situation well. If she had subtly hinted to Seb about Catherine and Todd's matter, maybe things wouldn't have turned out this way.
Besides the guilt and conflict in her heart, she also had a selfish reason. She didn't want to disappoint and upset Catherine too much.
The next morning, Susan didn't go to work but stayed home to make soup.
At eleven o'clock, Susan left the house with a thermos.
When she arrived in front of the Prosperity Group building, Susan hesitated.
Finally, she reached the CEO's office of Prosperity Group and saw Seb's secretary, Ellie.
"Mrs. Anderson, you're here?" Ellie was a bit surprised to see Susan and glanced at the thermos and small travel case in Susan's hand.
Susan smiled and said, "Is he in?"
"Yes, he is." Ellie quickly stepped forward to open the door to Seb's office for Susan.
"Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Anderson is here!" Ellie announced.
At that moment, Seb was sitting at his desk reading a document.
Hearing Ellie's words, he frowned and closed the document.
Ellie made a gesture for Susan to enter, and Susan stepped into the CEO's office. Ellie then closed the door behind her.
The moment she stepped in, Susan clearly saw Seb frown.
She knew he wouldn't welcome her, which she had expected, but seeing his frown still made her feel conflicted.
Seb got up from his chair, turned around, and took the black cashmere coat hanging on the coat rack. While putting it on, he said, "If you have something to say, be quick. I have a lunch meeting."
Hearing this, Susan felt a bit lost. Even a fool could tell he was trying to get rid of her.
Susan's nose suddenly felt a bit sour, and she kept telling herself, 'Hold it in, hold it in, don't cry in front of him, or he'll only see it as a ploy for his sympathy.
The next moment, Susan looked up and met Seb's gaze. "Kathy said you haven't eaten at home for many days, so she made you some soup."
With that, Susan placed the thermos on the corner of the large desk.
Susan didn't know why she changed her words at the last minute. The soup in the thermos was something she had been making since morning, simmering for three to four hours until almost noon. It was his favorite beef and vegetable soup.
"Thank Kathy for me," Seb said, his eyes meeting Susan's with a cold and indifferent look.
It was that cold and indifferent gaze that deeply hurt Susan's heart. How could he treat her like a stranger after just a few days? Had all their past love disappeared?
Hadn't they agreed to face everything together no matter what happened? Although she hadn't handled this matter well, it wasn't entirely her fault.
Although Catherine was her mother, she couldn't interfere with other people's relationships, right? Just like his father was Todd, this matter was also consensual between the two of them. Todd was also responsible, right?
The next moment, Susan seemed a bit defiant.
She pushed the small travel case in her hand in front of Seb.
Seb frowned, a look of confusion in his eyes.
Susan then said stiffly, "These are your clothes and daily necessities. I brought them to you so you won't be inconvenienced staying outside. But there's nothing inconvenient about it. Leon can buy you all new things. You can throw these old things away!"
Hearing this, Seb's brow furrowed tightly.
"Thank you for being so considerate," Seb said coldly.
