Chapter 944 You Must Take Responsibility for Me

When Isabella heard that, she glanced at Leon, not really sure what to say. This whole situation was way out of left field for her.

Leon checked his watch. "Is it time to head out? It's rush hour."

Isabella jumped up, grabbed her bag from the coffee table, and was about to turn around when Leon suddenly scooped her up in his arms.

She felt a bit dizzy as he carried her towards the door.

"Actually, my foot's a lot better now. I can walk down myself," she quickly said.

It was rush hour, and having Leon carry her up and down the stairs would definitely raise some eyebrows with the neighbors.

Leon wasn't having it. "If you take your time, we'll be late for sure."

Ignoring her protests, he carried her out the door.

Realizing how determined he was, Isabella didn't fight it.

His arms were strong, his steps steady, and she felt really safe in his embrace.

For years, Isabella had never had anyone to lean on. For the first time, she felt the joy of having someone to rely on.

She looked up at Leon, who was focused on carrying her downstairs, and couldn't help but think, 'If only he could take care of me like this forever, I'd be the happiest woman in the world.' It was a dream she didn't dare to have, but it felt so good right now. If it was a dream, she didn't want to wake up.

Soon, Leon gently placed her in the passenger seat.

Isabella watched as he carefully closed the door, walked around the car, and got into the driver's seat. He started the engine.

A warm feeling spread through her. When they were going downstairs, she could feel how careful he was. That feeling of being cherished was something new to her, and it moved her deeply.

Just as Leon was about to hit the gas, Isabella looked at him and asked, "What are we now?"

Leon glanced at her, frowned, and said, "What do you think we are?"

"We seem to be dating," she said, a bit dazed.

Leon smiled and pinched her chin. "It's not 'seem to be.' We are dating."

Isabella was stunned.

Did he just say they were dating? That seemed like a stretch. Neither of them had confessed, so how could they be dating?

"Are you serious?" she asked, still unsure.

"I've never been this serious in my life. To be precise, I've never been this serious about any woman," Leon said, looking at her with a very serious expression.

"But you haven't confessed to me." Isabella felt confused, her mind blank, and her heart racing.

"Do we really need to? I like you, and I know you like me too. Isn't that enough?" Leon smiled.

Then, he stepped on the gas, and the car sped forward.

Isabella was thrown back by the car's sudden acceleration, but she still protested, "Who said I like you? Don't make stuff up."

Leon glanced at her while driving. "Too late to deny it now. No woman has ever eaten my cooking. You did, so you gotta take responsibility."

"Can you be serious?" Isabella scoffed at his logic.

Leon smirked. "You're often unreasonable, so why should I be reasonable with you?"

Isabella couldn't find a comeback, but she still felt uneasy. She looked down, fiddling with her fingers. "You're not just messing with me, right?"

Leon instinctively hit the brakes.

Isabella's body lurched forward, almost hitting the windshield.

Just as she steadied herself and was about to yell at him, he hit the gas again, and the car shot forward.

Thrown back again, Isabella started to feel carsick, her stomach churning.

She patted her chest and burst out, "Leon, are you out of your mind?"

Leon, with a stern face, said, "I'll let your inappropriate words slide this time, but next time I won't be so lenient. You need to learn your lesson!"

"What did I say wrong?" His domineering attitude made Isabella a little scared.

"You don't even know what you did wrong. Seems like you need to think about it," Leon said coldly.

Isabella lowered her head and thought, finally realizing why he was mad. It was because she suggested he was just playing with her.

Seeing Leon's stern face, she understood he had already given her the answer.

For a moment, she turned her face away, a slight smile forming on her lips. She thought, 'Leon is so petty and moody.'

Soon, Leon parked the car in front of the office building.

Through the window, Isabella saw Leon take a wheelchair out of the trunk, then push it to the passenger side, open the door, and extend his hand to her.

Seeing his warm hand, Isabella, who was still a bit annoyed, softened.

She placed her hand in his.

Leon held her hand and carefully helped her out of the car.

Feeling the warmth and strength of his hand, Isabella's annoyance instantly disappeared.

Leon helped her sit in the wheelchair and then pushed her into the office building.

He pushed her all the way to the office door. Before leaving, he suddenly leaned down and whispered in her ear, "I'll pick you up after work."

Isabella was about to say something, but Leon turned and left.

Watching him hurry away, she realized she was getting used to his way of doing things. Dealing with him required a strong mental capacity; otherwise, she wouldn't be able to handle it.

As soon as she entered the office, Susan came up, glanced outside, and asked with a smile, "I think I saw Leon drop you off, right?"

Isabella glanced at Susan and admitted openly. "Yeah, it was him."

Hearing Isabella's admission, Susan immediately asked in surprise, "Tell me the truth, are you two...?"
