Chapter 1072 Regret
Cecilia couldn't concentrate on her classes all morning; her mind was filled with the events of that day.
Cecilia was very annoyed, because she couldn't get Daryl out of her mind.
After struggling through the morning, the class finally ended. Cecilia, carrying her backpack, walked out of the school in a daze.
"Cecilia." Cecilia looked up and suddenly saw Barry standing in front of her.
"Barry, what's up?" Cecilia asked absentmindedly, looking at Barry.
Barry scrutinized Cecilia carefully, his eyes full of concern. He stepped forward and asked, "Cecilia, you don't look well. Are you sick? You haven't been to class for the past two days, and I was worried. I tried calling you, but I couldn't get through."
Hearing this, Cecilia frowned.
She looked into Barry's eyes and saw the anxiety and concern in them.
Cecilia had never thought Barry was interested in her, but now she realized his feelings from his gaze.
Although Barry was tall and handsome, Cecilia didn't have any romantic feelings for him; she just admired him.
The next moment, Cecilia shook her head and said, "Barry, I haven't been sleeping well these past two days. It's nothing serious, thank you."
After saying that, Cecilia turned to leave.
However, Barry stepped forward and blocked her way. "Cecilia, I have something to tell you."
Seeing the anxiety and affection in Barry's eyes, Cecilia could guess what he wanted to say.
So, Cecilia forced a smile and said, "But I don't want to hear it."
After saying that, Cecilia started to walk away.
Barry frowned, then suddenly grabbed Cecilia's wrist and pulled her to a nearby park.
"Barry, let go of me!" Cecilia exclaimed.
Barry led Cecilia to a paulownia tree before releasing her wrist.
Cecilia angrily said, "Barry, what are you doing? This is very rude, you know?"
Hearing Cecilia's question, Barry apologized sincerely, "I'm sorry, Cecilia. I know I was a bit impulsive today, but I really have something to tell you. If I don't say it today, I'll feel extremely upset!"
Seeing Barry's troubled expression, Cecilia's face turned serious.
She knew she had to draw a clear line with Barry as soon as possible. Although they had never crossed any boundaries, she didn't want Daryl to misunderstand, nor did she want to cause herself unnecessary trouble.
The next moment, Cecilia put down her backpack, unzipped it, and took out the book that Daryl had damaged.
"This is your book, I'm returning it to you!" Cecilia handed the carefully repaired book to Barry.
Barry looked down at the book in Cecilia's hand and couldn't help but ask, "Did you finish reading it?"
"I didn't read it," Cecilia replied coldly.
"Why not? Don't you love 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' and want to read the commentary on it?" Barry asked, surprised.
"This book isn't suitable for me, Barry. Thank you for your kindness, but I'm not worth your effort. Let's not see each other anymore," After saying that, Cecilia turned to leave.
However, Barry, in a moment of panic, grabbed Cecilia's arm. "Cecilia, what do you mean by this?"
Cecilia looked up at Barry and said, "Isn't it clear enough?"
Barry, with a sad look in his eyes, said, "Cecilia, did you see what I wrote in the preface?"
"Yes." Cecilia nodded.
At this moment, Barry stepped forward, grabbed Cecilia's shoulders, and urgently confessed, "Cecilia, I've liked you since the first time I saw you. Because you were with Daryl, I buried these feelings deep inside. But now that you have broken up, I know you might still be hurting and not want to date. That's okay; I can wait until you're ready to be with me."
Sensing the earnest in Barry's eyes, Cecilia pushed his hands off her shoulders, took a step back to distance herself, and said, "Barry, I'm sorry, but you're not the one I like. So don't waste your time on me. Goodbye!"
After saying that, Cecilia turned and left resolutely.
Leaving behind a disappointed Barry.
Cecilia walked alone on the street, her eyes blankly staring at the road ahead.
Suddenly, Cecilia felt as if someone was following her.
She couldn't help but stopped and turned around to look behind her.
But there was no one there.
Cecilia frowned, then continued walking. She thought, 'Maybe I've been too upset these past few days, so I'm being paranoid, always feeling like someone is behind me.'
At this moment, Daryl stepped out from behind a bush, frowning as he looked at the slender figure ahead.
These past few days hadn't been easy for Daryl either. He couldn't focus on anything. He wanted to visit Cecilia but didn't know what to say and was afraid to face her. So he could only endure not seeing her and occasionally get updates about her from Freya.
To be honest, Daryl hadn't expected that day to be Cecilia's first sex. In his mind, Cecilia was already labeled as a flirtatious woman who would sell herself for money. He thought she must have had sex with other men before.
But that wasn't the case, and his heart was filled with guilt. The bloodstains on the sheets made him even more remorseful.
That day, seeing Cecilia crying on the bed, Daryl wanted to comfort her and apologize, but his pride wouldn't let him. He could only leave silently.
Today, Daryl knew Cecilia was coming to class, so he waited at the school gate, hoping to catch a glimpse of her from afar.
Unexpectedly, Daryl saw Barry pulling Cecilia into the park.
It seemed like Barry was confessing to Cecilia, but it was clear that Cecilia was keeping her distance from him.
At that moment, Daryl realized he had misunderstood Cecilia. There was nothing between her and Barry; it was just Barry's one-sided affection.
Daryl could see that Cecilia didn't look well and seemed exhausted, and he felt a strong sense of pity for her.
As Cecilia walked, she felt something was off.
So, as she walked, she suddenly turned around.
At that moment, Daryl, lost in his thoughts, couldn't hide in time and was caught by Cecilia.
Cecilia was momentarily stunned, then her eyes sharply focused on Daryl, who looked a bit embarrassed.
