Chapter 194 Pregnant

Hearing this, Susan was surprised but quickly smiled. "Mom, I've been divorced. Finding someone isn't that easy."

"You've only been divorced and have no kids. If it doesn't work out, just lower your standards. As long as the person is honest and reliable, we can overlook money and looks," Catherine said, frowning.

Susan never thought about dating again, let alone settling. She was already struggling alone and didn't want to drag anyone else down.

So, she joked, "Mom, Dorothy's married. Don't you want me to stay home and keep you company?"

Catherine rolled her eyes. "Married or not, you haven't spent much time at home with me."

"Mom, I'm on a long vacation now. I'll stay home and keep you company," Susan said, trying to please her.

Catherine pursed her lips. "You've been out of town for half a year. The company should give you more days off. Stay home a bit longer before going back to work."

"Whatever you say," Susan agreed happily.

Only Susan knew she was actually unemployed and could stay home as long as she wanted. She felt guilty for not spending much time with Catherine and decided to delay her job search to be with her mom.

Catherine finished eating first and stood up. "You clean up the table. I'm going to buy some groceries!"

"Got it," Susan nodded.

After Catherine left, Susan looked at the meat on her plate. As soon as she brought it to her mouth, her stomach churned, and she almost threw up!

Susan rushed to the bathroom, vomited, then washed her hands and rinsed her mouth.

Suddenly, she thought of something and stared blankly at the running water.

After a moment, she grabbed her bag and headed out the door!

Over two hours later, Susan walked out of the hospital with a lab report in hand.

Looking up at the blue sky, she held back tears.

She had just gotten a blood test, and the results showed she was pregnant!

When she felt nauseous earlier, she remembered her period was late this month.

With her past experience, she suspected she was pregnant and rushed to the hospital for confirmation.

The results confirmed it: she was over a month pregnant.

Seeing the test results, Susan was stunned and wanted to slap herself.

Last month, she had been raped by Seb three times. How could she have forgotten to take a morning-after pill? Maybe she was too stressed, busy moving, and avoiding Seb, that she didn't think about it.

Tripping over a stone once was bad luck; doing it twice was sheer stupidity. Why hadn't she learned her lesson?

Susan couldn't forget what the doctor had just told her.

"Miss, you're not young anymore. Your previous pregnancy damaged your uterus, making the uterine wall thin. If you terminate this pregnancy, it will be very difficult to conceive in the future. Please think carefully before deciding whether to keep this baby."

Susan wandered alone by the river, staring at the water, feeling conflicted.

She really wanted to keep the baby. The pain of losing her previous child was still fresh. Maybe this was a chance for redemption.

But this child was Seb's. He probably knew her whereabouts. Could she secretly give birth to the child?

Moreover, this child would be illegitimate. She couldn't provide a complete family or a normal life. Wouldn't that be unfair to the baby? Would it affect the child's future?

Lost in thought, she suddenly saw a familiar figure ahead!

Her heart tightened, and she stopped, staring at the person.

Seeing him didn't surprise her. If he wanted, he could know her every move. It was clear he didn't intend to let her go easily.

As she stopped, he walked up to her.

When he stood in front of her, her eyes were filled with anger. She asked in a suppressed voice, "Seb, what will it take for you to leave me alone?"

Seb frowned slightly and didn't answer. Instead, he said, "Are you so afraid to see me? Do you hate me that much?"

She turned her face away and coldly said, "I'm just an ordinary woman, but I won't be someone's mistress, nor will I destroy someone else's family. So don't expect any improper relationship with me. I despise extramarital affairs!"

Seb's expression became complicated. He smirked and finally said, "I haven't married Cynthia."

Susan was shocked!

He hadn't married Cynthia? Weren't they in love for years? How come they still hadn't married?

She quickly hid her surprise and sneered, "Whether you marry Cynthia or not is none of my business. I don't care at all!"

Seb was silent for a long time before finally saying, "Fine, let's pretend I never said that. But you're pregnant with my child. That concerns both of us, doesn't it?"

Susan felt both surprised and as if it were expected.

He must have had someone follow her, so he knew everything.

She knew she couldn't hide it, so she decided to fight back another way.

She laughed and looked at Seb sideways, saying, "I am pregnant, but you're too confident. How can you be so sure the baby is yours?"

Seb looked deeply into her eyes, showing no anger or irritation. Instead, he confidently said, "Besides me, you have no other man!"

These words made Susan feel mocked and insulted, hurting her self-esteem. How could he be so confident? Did he think she couldn't have any other man besides him?

She retorted angrily, "George flirts with me every day, and even Henry can't forget me. I think you're just being too arrogant."
