Chapter 379 You Must Listen to Me
That day, Susan was so wiped out she couldn't even drag herself to the park to play with Spring. She crashed and slept till almost evening.
Weekends started to freak her out 'cause she spent most of 'em knocked out in bed.
She was totally beat, but Seb seemed to be loving it.
On Monday morning, Seb was all about taking Susan to work.
Leon was on the driver's seat, while Seb and Susan chilled in the back seat.
Susan saw her chance and straight-up asked Leon, "Hey Mr. Johnson, you got a girlfriend?"
Leon was caught off guard by Susan's personal question but then said, "Not yet."
"How 'bout I set you up?" Susan shot back without missing a beat.
Leon glanced at Seb and said, "Thanks, Ms. Wilson, but I'm not looking to get hitched right now."
But Susan was all in. "Mr. Johnson, you're not getting any younger; you should start thinking about your personal life. Besides, I'm just introducing you to a girlfriend, not asking you to get married right away. You might like her once you get to know her. She's about my age, has a similar profession, and her looks and personality are quite similar to mine."
Seb just rubbed his nose.
Leon quickly cut in, "Ms. Wilson, sorry, but you're not my type."
Susan was left speechless, not knowing what to say next.
Leon had shut her down, and his reason was pretty final.
For a moment, things got a bit awkward.
Seb tugged at Susan's sleeve and grinned. "Leon's taste is different from mine, so don't sweat it."
Susan gave Seb a look, feeling something was off. She was sure Seb had told Leon to turn her down.
But Susan had no other options. Looking at the handsome and capable Leon up front, she felt it was a pity for Isabella. Such a good guy would end up with someone else.
Even though Leon wasn't interested, Susan was set on finding a match for Isabella.
For the next few days, Susan kept an eye on the top-notch guys at Pioneer Accounting Firm.
Finally, she narrowed it down to three colleagues who were good-looking, talented, and had good character. She planned to introduce them to Isabella one by one until she hit the jackpot.
After dinner that night, Susan was in the living room playing games with Hayden and Spring, while Seb was on the couch watching the news.
Seb glanced at the three of them playing on the floor, his stern face softening with a gentle smile. The whole villa was filled with the laughter of Susan and the kids.
In the middle of their fun, Susan's phone rang.
Hayden handed the phone to Susan. "Mommy, it's Isabella calling."
"Thanks, Hayden. Let Daddy keep playing with you; I gotta take this call." Susan grabbed the phone and ran to the terrace.
Seb frowned and muttered, "She calls every day. Maybe Isabella should just move in with us."
Lately, Susan had been setting up dates for Isabella, so whenever they got on the phone, it lasted over an hour. Seb had complained a bunch of times, but Susan always overruled him.
On the terrace, Susan picked up the call and jumped right in, "So, how'd the date go tonight?"
Susan had recently set Isabella up with Ernest Abbott, a colleague from Pioneer Accounting Firm. He was thirty-three, had a gentle demeanor, worked hard, and had no bad habits. Susan thought Ernest was a solid choice and introduced him to Isabella.
"Ugh, don't even get me started. I've never met such a cheapskate!" Isabella practically yelled into the phone.
"Isabella, Ernest is just a regular guy; you can't compare him to rich folks. Don't set your expectations too high," Susan tried to reason with her.
But Isabella was still fuming. "He's not just cheap; do you know where he took me for dinner tonight?"
"Where?" Susan asked, bracing herself.
"The little diner downstairs from my apartment," Isabella said, dragging out the words.
Susan rubbed her forehead, speechless.
The diner was tiny, not very clean, and had a mixed crowd, but it was dirt cheap.
Thinking about it, Ernest really was something. For a first date, he picked a place that any girl would find unacceptable.
Isabella kept ranting, "That wasn't even the worst part. Do you know what he ordered? All the cheapest dishes. And the kicker? When it came time to pay, he said since we both have progressive views, we should split the bill. I couldn't just eat for free, so I gave him eighteen bucks. It was gross. I blocked him as soon as I left!"
Susan was at a loss for words. She never thought Ernest could be such a jerk.
"I'm so sorry, Isabella. I really didn't think Ernest would be that bad," Susan apologized, trying to calm her down.
Luckily, Isabella was pretty chill and got over it quickly. She even said, "Next time, set me up with someone decent!"
"Got it. If the first one sucks, we'll try the next. I'll find someone else from my company tomorrow!" Susan reassured her before hanging up.
When Susan got back to the living room, she saw Seb having a blast with the kids and jumped right into the fun.
For a while, the family of four laughed their heads off. Even though it was just a simple game, Susan felt the deep warmth of home.
Later that night, with the dim wall lamp casting a soft glow and the wind howling outside, Susan leaned against the headboard, her mind busy with thoughts of finding a match for Isabella.
Seb scooted closer, wrapped his arms around her waist, and started kissing her neck and cheeks.
When she didn't respond for a while, Seb grumbled, "Can you focus a bit?"
"I'm thinking about something," Susan tried to push him away.
But Seb wasn't having it.
He pinned her beneath him and declared, "Your time now is all mine. You can only think about me!"
Hearing this, Susan smiled and pinched his nose. "You're so bossy."
"In bed, you gotta listen to me!" Seb said, all dominant, and then turned off the wall lamp.
In the room, only the sounds of their bodies entwining filled the air.
