Chapter 819 The Unexpected Event

After a bit, Susan tried calling Seb, but no luck. Then she dialed Leon, but still, no answer.

She paused for a second and then called Dorothy. This time, someone picked up.

After a quick chat with Dorothy, Susan tried Seb again, but still nothing.

Finally, Susan plopped down on the couch, worried, and said, "Why aren't Seb and Leon answering my calls? Did something happen?"

Hearing Leon's name, Isabella frowned and said, "Don't freak out. They're probably just busy. Try to stay calm!"

Susan thought for a moment and said, "I'll call Ellie and see what's up."

Then, Susan called Seb's office. It rang a few times before someone answered, but it wasn't Ellie.

The person said Ellie had taken a few days off, and Seb hadn't shown up either. Leon was MIA too, and when Susan asked more questions, the person said they couldn't share any info.

Susan was super anxious but had no other options. She kept calling Seb and Leon, but no one picked up. Eventually, their phones were turned off.

"What the heck is going on? This is driving me nuts!" Susan paced back and forth in the living room, really worried.

Isabella frowned, thought for a moment, and then said, "Why don't we have Dorothy go to the Prosperity Group headquarters to ask around?"

Susan shook her head and said, "I'm not Seb's legal wife right now, and the people at Prosperity Group don't know Dorothy. They won't take her seriously."

Isabella then said, "I don't think it's anything serious. Anyway, you have a flight back early tomorrow morning. Once you get there, you'll know what's going on in Maple Valley. Maybe they're on a business trip."

"It's all because of this stupid storm. Communications have been down for days. Seb can't reach me; he must be worried sick!" Susan frowned.

There was nothing Susan could do but anxiously wait through the night.

Early the next morning, a driver took Susan to the airport, and she boarded a flight to Maple Valley.

The twelve-hour flight was pure torture. Susan's mind was racing, and she grew more and more uneasy.

As soon as the plane landed, Susan didn't even bother with her checked luggage. She pulled out her phone and turned it on.

Just as she turned on her phone, before she could call Seb, it started ringing.

Susan looked down at the flashing screen and saw it was Leon's number. She smiled with relief.

Leon finally called back. They must have seen her missed calls.

The next moment, Susan happily answered the call. "Leon?"

"Ms. Wilson, have you landed?" Leon's voice came from the other end.

"Yes, why couldn't I reach you and Seb? I was so worried. By the way, is Seb at the airport to pick me up?" Susan asked excitedly, thinking they must have contacted Isabella and Kathy and knew she was on this flight back, so they rushed to pick her up.

There was a noticeable pause on Leon's end before he said, "Ms. Wilson, Mr. Anderson and I can't come right now. There was an accident."

Hearing this, Susan freaked out and urgently asked, "What accident? How's Seb? What happened?"

She'd been feeling uneasy for days, and now something bad had actually happened. She was super worried about Seb's safety.

Leon quickly tried to calm her down, "Ms. Wilson, don't worry. Mr. Anderson isn't in any life-threatening danger. A week ago, we were in a car accident. We're both in the hospital now, but we're out of danger. I've already sent a car to pick you up."

Susan frowned and asked, "A car accident? How bad? What's Seb's condition?"

"His leg's broken, he has a mild concussion, and some external injuries. Other than that, he's okay," Leon replied.

Susan let out a sigh of relief and then asked, "Leon, are you okay?"

"I'm fine. My arm's broken, and I have a mild concussion, but I have some scars," Leon replied with a bit of a self-deprecating laugh.

"As long as your lives aren't in danger. I'm heading to the hospital now," Susan said.

Leon wanted to say something but didn't.

At this moment, Susan didn't want to talk more. She just wanted to get to the hospital quickly to see how Seb was.

Soon, Susan found the car Leon had sent.

The driver, who knew the route well, took Susan to the hospital.

An hour later, Susan stood in the hospital's inpatient department.

From a distance, she saw Leon, wearing a white shirt, waiting at the entrance.

By now, the weather in Maple Valley had warmed up, and it was the season when willow catkins floated in the wind. The hospital courtyard was filled with floating catkins.

Susan walked up to Leon and saw his arm in a cast hanging from his chest. His face and hands had external injuries, especially a long scar on his left cheek that had just healed, looking pretty gnarly.

"How did it get so serious?" Susan frowned.

Leon knew she was talking about his face. He touched the scar and smiled. "Luckily, I'm a guy. A scar's no big deal."

Susan couldn't help but say, "You've got such a serious scar on your face. Will that rich girl still want you? Don't waste your efforts!"

Leon’s mouth twitched, and he was speechless for a long time.

Seeing Leon's expression, Susan felt a bit regretful for saying that.

Even though he was injured and looked pretty pitiful, he had wronged Isabella, and that was his fault.

Then, Susan looked at the inpatient department entrance and asked, "Which ward is Seb in?"

"I'll take you there," Leon said, turning to walk into the inpatient department.

Susan followed behind.

Leon had just walked in when he suddenly stopped and turned to Susan, saying, "But you should be prepared."

Susan immediately asked, "Leon, is Seb really serious?"

"You'll see when you get there," Leon said, then turned and continued leading the way.

Susan had no choice but to follow Leon, but she was super worried, and her legs felt weak.

She didn't know what Leon meant by being prepared, and she felt increasingly nervous.
