Chapter 69 You Are a Bastard
Susan was floored by Seb's words, always underestimating him, now left speechless.
"But you have to let me contact them, right? If they don't hear from me, they'll get suspicious." Under Seb's intense gaze, Susan found herself shifting her request from leaving to just being able to contact Catherine and Dorothy.
Seb checked his watch and said, "Fine, but it's late today. Tomorrow morning, you can call home or Isabella, but Kathy has to be there. And Susan, don't try anything funny, or they'll all pay for it."
Susan knew he meant it. Just a bit of intimidation would be enough to break Catherine and Dorothy. And if Isabella got fired, her life would be ruined.
Even if she told them about her situation, they couldn't help her and would only get dragged into it.
Looking around the luxurious room, Susan had a change of heart.
'It's just a few months, right? The place is nice, someone takes care of me, and the mountain air is good for pregnant women. Why not?' she thought.
Then, she shouted, "I'm hungry!"
Her voice was filled with helplessness and frustration, but she was finally willing to eat.
Seb turned away, touched his nose, and a faint smile appeared on his lips. He then called out, "Kathy, Mrs. Anderson is hungry. Bring the food!"
"Coming!" Kathy's voice responded immediately.
Kathy had been preparing meals and quickly brought a tray upstairs.
She placed two of Susan's favorite dishes on the bedside table. Susan eagerly grabbed the utensils and started devouring the food.
The hunger was unbearable, and being pregnant made it worse. After a few bites, Susan felt less anxious and had the strength to face Seb again.
Kathy stood in front of Seb, smiling. "Mr. Anderson, it's late, and the mountain roads are tough. Why don't you stay the night? I'll get some clean clothes and bedding for you."
Seb stood there, undecided, but Susan was the first to speak up. "I sleep lightly. If you stay, it's best to sleep in the next room. If I don't sleep well, it'll affect your child!"
It was clear she didn't want to share a bed with Seb.
Her reaction made Seb frown. He then said to Kathy, "I have an appointment tonight and need to get back to Maple Valley."
Though he was speaking to Kathy, it was meant for Susan.
Kathy wasn't naive and knew they were still at odds, so she quickly said, "Mr. Anderson, be careful on the road. Have Mr. Johnson drive slowly."
As Kathy spoke, Seb's eyes were on Susan, who was eating with her head down.
Susan kept a stern face, eating silently.
Then, Seb said harshly, "I'll come once a month to see if you've gained weight. If you lose weight, I'll make sure your sister Dorothy can't go to college!"
Hearing this, Susan looked up and glared at Seb with pure hatred.
He was truly despicable, using her family to force her compliance.
Seb's face darkened. He shot her a glare and stormed out.
Kathy quickly ran out to see him off.
After they left, Susan continued chewing her food, muttering under her breath, "Seb, you bastard!"
When Kathy returned, she hesitated before speaking, "Mrs. Anderson, why do you have to do this? Mr. Anderson is also..."
"Don't mention him to me again," Susan snapped.
Kathy shook her head and left.
From that day on, Susan tried to live peacefully there.
Every morning, she would have Kathy accompany her for walks in the nearby woods and by the creek, breathing in the fresh mountain air.
At noon, she would lie on the deck chair on the terrace and sunbathe.
In the evening, she would sit by the bay window and stargaze.
In her spare time, Susan would take out her CPA study materials to review and study.
Since getting entangled with Seb, her dream of becoming a CPA had been put on hold. Now, it was a good opportunity to study without any interruptions.
Soon, Susan was almost five months pregnant, and it was time for a prenatal checkup.
She secretly hoped that she might get a chance to see Catherine and Dorothy when she went back to Maple Valley for the checkup.
However, this hope was shattered one day.
That afternoon, while sitting by the bay window sunbathing, Susan saw the garden gate open, and a black Bentley drove into the garden.
It was Seb's car. He was probably here to weigh her. It had been exactly a month since her hunger strike.
However, shortly after, an ambulance from the hospital also pulled into the garden. Susan was momentarily puzzled, wondering why Seb had brought an ambulance.
Soon, she saw Seb get out of the Bentley, followed by Leon, and then two female doctors in white coats and two nurses carrying medical equipment got out of the ambulance.
As Susan was filled with confusion, Kathy opened the door.
"Mrs. Anderson, Mr. Anderson has invited doctors from the hospital for your prenatal checkup." After Kathy announced, the doctors and nurses carrying medical equipment walked in.
At this moment, Susan finally understood. Seb intended not to let her leave this villa until she gave birth. He could even have doctors and nurses come to the house for the checkup.
Susan didn't resist the checkup; instead, she cooperated with the doctors and nurses.
She knew that resistance was futile. Seb was someone who responded better to softness than hardness. If she was hard, he would be even harder.
Of course, she wouldn't submit and grovel in front of Seb. She'd rather die than do that.
After the checkup, Susan heard steady footsteps approaching. Without looking, she knew it was Seb.
When he walked in, he asked the lead doctor, "How's the checkup?"
"Everything is normal," the female doctor replied.
Seb glanced at Susan sitting on the bed and asked, "How's her weight?"
The doctor checked the previous checkup records and replied, "She's gained 4.4 pounds since last month."
At this moment, Susan couldn't help but think, 'Having money really does come with many privileges, like bringing the hospital home.'
