Chapter 949 Stubborn People
At nine o'clock, Leon wrapped up the housework, plopped down on the couch, chatted with Isabella for a bit, and then headed out like he always did.
Once Leon was gone, Isabella grabbed her phone, wandered into the kitchen, and called up Susan while pouring herself some water.
"What's up? Shouldn't you and Leon be all lovey-dovey right now?" Susan teased.
Isabella rolled her eyes. "Oh come on, all he does is housework. Flirting? No way."
"Really? It's been days, and you two are still stuck in that boring routine?" Susan asked, sounding surprised.
"Susan, I seriously think he might be impotent. I've been super forward, but he hasn't shown any interest. I even suggested he get checked out today, but he just said he's healthy and didn't get what I meant. What am I supposed to do?" Isabella said, clearly frustrated.
"You need to be direct, but, you know, in a subtle way," Susan advised.
Isabella sighed, "How can I be direct? I mean, I can't just ask him if he's got issues and tell him to go see a doctor right away to avoid any problems for our future marriage and kids, can I?"
Just as she took a sip of water, she noticed a tall figure at the kitchen door. It was Leon.
Startled, Isabella's hand froze, and the cup slipped, shattering on the floor.
"Why are you back?" she asked, quickly pulling the phone away from her ear.
Leon, standing at the door with a gloomy look, pointed to the trash can. "I forgot to take out the trash."
Isabella had given Leon a key for convenience, but today it was biting her back.
Feeling embarrassed, Isabella glanced at the trash on the floor.
"Hello? Isabella, what's going on? Who are you talking to? I heard something break. Are you okay?" Susan's voice came through the phone, sounding worried.
Leon's intense gaze made Isabella break out in a cold sweat.
Hearing Susan's voice, Leon stepped forward and snatched the phone from Isabella.
"What are you doing?" Isabella snapped, feeling both angry and guilty.
She had been so caught up in the conversation that she hadn't noticed Leon come in. She had no idea how much he had overheard.
Leon took the phone and said, "Ms. Wilson, this is Leon. I'll discuss my health with Isabella. Goodbye."
He hung up forcefully.
Isabella thought, 'Oh no, he heard everything.'
Feeling guilty, she tried to slip away, but Leon grabbed her wrist.
Isabella screamed.
Leon's eyes turned icy, making Isabella shiver. He looked like an enraged lion, his gaze filled with anger and coldness.
"Who were you talking about being impotent?" Leon's words were practically spat out through gritted teeth.
"I was just chatting nonsense with Susan. I didn't mean you. Why are you so angry? It's late, aren't you here to take out the trash? Hurry up and take it out, you have work tomorrow, go rest early!" Isabella said, shoving the trash bag into Leon's hand. Taking advantage of his momentary distraction, she slipped out of the kitchen.
She dashed into the bedroom, thinking she had escaped, but then she heard a stern voice behind her. "When did your leg become so agile?"
A chill ran down Isabella's spine.
She had been so focused on escaping that she forgot about her leg. Now that he had seen it, there was no way to explain it. It seemed that one really shouldn't lie; the truth always came out.
Turning around to face the furious Leon, Isabella forced a smile. "My leg is almost healed."
Leon stepped closer, making her step back.
Her heel hit the bed, and she almost fell backward.
Leon stepped forward and wrapped an arm around her waist, steadying her.
Isabella's heart raced as they stood so close, their bodies almost touching.
Leon pressed on, "Your leg has been healed for a while, hasn't it?"
"No," Isabella denied.
She had planned to tell him tomorrow that her leg was healed, but now it was too late. It showed that one shouldn't lie, or there was no way to explain it once it was exposed.
Leon stared at her with a terrifying look, gritting his teeth. "Do you find it fun to lie to me?"
"No, I didn't mean to lie to you. I just..." Isabella tried to explain but couldn't say the real reason.
"Just what?" Leon demanded.
Seeing his eyes turn red, Isabella didn't dare to argue and had to tell the truth. "I just wanted you to carry me up and down the stairs. I was afraid that if I told you my leg was healed, you wouldn't carry me anymore."
Her face turned red, and her voice became very soft as she finished.
Leon's expression softened a bit.
Then he asked sternly, "You really like me carrying you up and down the stairs that much? Aren't you a bit too lazy? But this place is a bit old. Tomorrow, I'll find you an apartment with an elevator."
Isabella felt that Leon was just a stubborn person who didn't understand a woman's heart at all.
"I like it here. I'll continue living here. You don't need to bother," Isabella said, pushing Leon away.
