Chapter 1208 Safe Return
Cecilia finally looked up and smiled, saying, "I don't have an appetite, you go ahead and eat."
"We still have a two-hour drive ahead of us. If you don't eat, you'll get carsick," Barry kindly reminded her.
Cecilia didn't argue. She lowered her head and slowly chewed on the fried egg, her expression more pained than if she were taking medicine.
Seeing Cecilia like this, Barry frowned slightly, then suddenly decided and said, "If you don't eat more, how will you go back to Maple Valley to inquire about Daryl's situation?"
Cecilia looked up and stared at Barry in surprise.
What did he mean? Was he suggesting she go back to Maple Valley to check on Daryl?
Seeing her surprised look, he smiled and said, "I know you're very worried about him. You won't enjoy yourself if you come with me, so after breakfast, we'll head back to Maple Valley. I'll take you to the airport to check on Daryl."
She felt very touched.
Barry was considerate and generous.
She had wanted to go back to Maple Valley to the airport last night, but she couldn't. She had to consider Barry's feelings, and she didn't have the right to inquire about Daryl's situation at the airport.
Seeing the surprise on her face, Barry smiled and said, "Hurry up and eat."
Cecilia looked at Barry with grateful eyes and said, "Barry, I don't know what to say. You're the most considerate boyfriend."
She reached out and held his hand on the table.
Looking down at Cecilia's hand holding his, Barry smiled and said, "I just want to see you happy, not worried."
Barry was the best partner, and Cecilia felt very touched by his generosity and understanding.
Then, Cecilia firmly said, "Barry, don't overthink it. I'm just worried about Daryl's safety this time. I have no other intentions. I want to have a good relationship with you in the future, maybe even live together."
Barry nodded. "Enough talking, eat up. We still have to hit the road."
Barry kept his word, and two hours later, he brought Cecilia to Maple Valley Airport.
The airport was bustling with people as usual. Barry led Cecilia to the gate of the flight that had the incident.
Sure enough, there were many people who looked like family members waiting there. The ground staff at the service desk were surrounded by people asking all sorts of questions.
Cecilia immediately saw Skylar not far away. She was sitting on a bench, next to a middle-aged woman with an extraordinary demeanor. In front of the bench was a wheelchair with a man in his sixties sitting in it.
Cecilia didn't need to guess to know that these two were probably Daryl's parents, as the middle-aged woman was crying continuously.
Around Daryl's parents stood about a dozen people, likely relatives of the Fields family and people from the Fields Group.
Cecilia naturally couldn't go up and ask about Daryl's situation directly, so she looked for Douglas in the crowd.
Sure enough, Douglas soon saw Cecilia standing in the corner.
He quickly walked through the crowd to Cecilia while no one was watching.
"Miss Thorne, you're here?" Douglas's face was very serious.
"How is it?" Cecilia asked urgently.
From Douglas's serious expression, Cecilia had a bad feeling.
Douglas frowned and replied, "All the bodies of the victims have been transported away, and Mr. Fields was not among them. None of the injured sent to the hospital were him either. We are currently negotiating at the airport, not sure where the problem lies."
Cecilia breathed a sigh of relief.
After all, not finding a body meant that Daryl might still be alive.
Cecilia asked, "Is it possible he didn't board the plane?"
Douglas replied, "That's the best possibility. The surveillance footage from the airport didn't show Mr. Fields, but his phone was unreachable, and his friends hadn't seen him. So the Fields family is very anxious. Mr. Fields's mother has fainted twice but refuses to leave."
Cecilia felt lost again. How could this be? Could Daryl have just disappeared into thin air?
Maybe it was because she didn't sleep well last night, or maybe it was the anxiety, but Cecilia's legs gave way.
Barry, who was behind Cecilia, stepped forward and caught her.
"Are you okay?" Barry asked nervously.
Cecilia shook her head, her face pale. "I'm fine."
Cecilia looked at Barry with guilty eyes, feeling that she had lost her composure, but she really couldn't pretend to be indifferent.
"You don't look well. I don't think we'll get any results here soon. How about I take you home to rest?" Barry said with concern.
Cecilia shook her head. "I'm not going back."
Seeing that Cecilia was unwilling to leave, Barry frowned slightly and said, "Then I'll stay here with you."
Looking at Barry, who was supporting her, she didn't know what to say. She didn't want to leave; she wanted to wait here for news.
A tall, upright figure walked in from outside the waiting area.
Everyone's eyes turned to the newcomer, all of them too shocked to close their mouths.
Following everyone's gaze, Cecilia looked at the newcomer and couldn't help but widen her eyes.
He was tall, wearing a black suit with a white shirt underneath, no tie, and the collar unbuttoned, looking a bit casual. He wore black sunglasses, so his eyes were not visible.
Seeing him alive and well, a joyful smile immediately appeared on Cecilia's lips.
The people standing in front of the bench were also stunned to see Daryl suddenly walk in. Isaac and Azalea were especially surprised.
Cecilia finally breathed a sigh of relief.
As long as he was safe, Cecilia felt completely relaxed.
"Mr. Fields is back safely!" Douglas suddenly shouted.
Everyone then reacted and immediately applauded.
Wearing sunglasses, Daryl saw Cecilia standing in the corner and hesitated for a moment.
When he saw Barry standing behind Cecilia, he frowned slightly because Cecilia was leaning against Barry's chest, and Barry's hands were on her shoulders, looking very intimate.
Daryl turned and walked towards Isaac and Azalea.
"Daryl, are you okay?" Skylar was the first to run to Daryl, crying with joy as she threw herself into his arms.
