Chapter 1329 Bastard
Seeing Daryl's confused expression, the female doctor grew impatient and said, "Alright, since you don't know anything, just wait for the test results."
With that, she left the room.
Two hours later, Daryl held Cecilia's test results in his hands.
The report clearly stated that she had mastitis caused by engorgement, and it also included records of childbirth within the past year.
Daryl's fingers tightened around the report, his eyes darkening with a menacing look.
"Mr. Fields, Mrs. Fields has given birth before. That child..." Douglas ventured cautiously.
Daryl immediately instructed, "Go to the city where she lives. You need to go personally and find that child for me!"
"Get it," Douglas responded promptly and hurried out.
Daryl, meanwhile, stared at the report in his hands, lost in thought.
Cecilia lay in the hospital bed, her body aching all over. She opened her sleepy eyes and frowned upon seeing the sterile white room.
She noticed the IV drip attached to her arm and struggled to sit up.
At that moment, a nurse standing by her side smiled and said, "You're awake?"
"I'm in a hospital? Did I faint?" Cecilia asked, holding her head and trying to recall the events at the courthouse.
"Yes, you had a high fever due to mastitis and fainted from exhaustion. You're on an IV drip now, so try not to move too much," the nurse reminded her.
"Who are you?" Cecilia asked, staring at the young woman in the light blue nurse's uniform.
Hospital nurses usually just come to administer the IV; they don't stay by her side constantly.
"I'm your private nurse. If you need anything, just let me know," the nurse replied with a smile.
A private nurse? Cecilia thought to herself, 'It must be Daryl who arranged this. I remember that I fainted in the courtroom, so he must have brought me to the hospital.'
Mastitis? She had mastitis? She touched her chest, which still felt as hard as a rock and painfully tender.
No wonder she felt so achy and dizzy at the courthouse. She had a fever and didn't even realize it, ending up hospitalized.
Cecilia glanced out the window. Night had already fallen, and the streetlights outside cast a dim glow. She felt a surge of anxiety.
She had planned to return home to see Thaddeus tonight, but not only did she fail to finalize the divorce, she ended up in the hospital. What should she do now? She couldn't stay in Maple Valley for long; Thaddeus would be inconsolable if he didn't see her.
The nurse stood up and said, "The IV is finished. Let me remove the needle for you."
"Thank you," Cecilia said, nodding wearily.
As the nurse removed the needle, Cecilia's eyes were filled with confusion. She was trying to figure out how to quickly resolve things here and get back to Thaddeus.
Just then, the door to the room swung open!
A tall figure walked in, and the nurse quickly greeted, "Mr. Fields."
Hearing that, Cecilia looked up and met Daryl's cold, piercing gaze.
Since their reunion, he had always looked at her like this, and Cecilia found it terrifying.
Daryl glanced at Cecilia sitting on the bed and told the nurse, "You can leave now."
"Get it." The nurse, sensing Daryl's anger, quickly left the room without a word.
With the door closed, only Daryl and Cecilia remained in the room, and the atmosphere grew tense.
Cecilia lowered her eyes and said, "I'm sorry I fainted. It's late now, but we can finalize the divorce first thing in the morning."
Daryl narrowed his eyes, exuding a dangerous aura, and sneered, "Are you in such a hurry to cut ties with me because your current boyfriend is impatient?"
Hearing his baseless accusations, Cecilia felt anger rising but knew arguing with him was pointless. She turned her face away and said, "I don't want to fight with you."
"Do you think I want to fight with you?" Daryl's eyes were as cold as ice, sending chills down her spine.
Cecilia turned her face away, not wanting to look at him. "Since we only argue when we're together, it's better to end this sooner."
Daryl took a step forward and grabbed Cecilia's wrist.
"What are you doing?" She felt her wrist tighten and looked up at him nervously.
Daryl didn't answer. Instead, he yanked the blanket off her.
Feeling the sudden chill, Cecilia gasped, "What are you doing?"
Daryl remained silent and started to pull at her hospital gown.
His actions made Cecilia's head buzz with fear. She pushed him away, crossed her arms over her chest, and stared at him in terror. She mused, 'This is a hospital; he wouldn't...'
Cecilia couldn't finish the thought, feeling that Daryl was being utterly despicable.
Daryl's eyes were dark and intense as he stepped closer.
Cecilia, now cornered on the bed, panicked and said, "Daryl, don't do this. We're in a hospital!"
Daryl frowned and grabbed her neck with his left hand.
Cecilia gasped, feeling Daryl's tight grip around her neck. She was nearly suffocating, unable to fight back.
Daryl used his right hand to tear off her hospital gown.
Cecilia's face turned pale with anger and shame.
Though her neck was restrained, Cecilia closed her legs tightly and began to shout, "Daryl, you're a bastard! A bastard!"
"Shut up!" Daryl growled.
Cecilia stared at him, her eyes filled with defiance. His cold, ruthless gaze and the icy aura he emitted made her feel like she was in a frozen hell.
Cecilia couldn't understand why, if he hated her so much, he still wanted to do this to her.
