Chapter 698 Dilemma
Susan knew that everything Leon said was true, but she still frowned and said, "But what's the use of telling me this? I can't help him at all."
"As long as you're willing, you're the only one who can save Mr. Anderson," Leon said.
Hearing this, Susan couldn't help but smile bitterly. "How could I have such great ability? In his heart, I'm nothing now."
As she said this, Susan felt very sad.
Although he had deeply hurt her before, she didn't want to see him like this.
"I know things are complicated between you two. His behavior towards you has been inexcusable. But it stems from his love for you. He lashes out because he cares. Mr. Anderson is a proud man, Susan. He can't stand the thought of betrayal from the woman he loves. He's convinced you and Andrew were in cahoots, even though deep down, I don't think he truly believes it. He just can't make sense of it." Leon looked at Susan with eyes full of trust.
Hearing Leon's words, Susan felt a pang in her heart.
Her eyes reddened, and she lowered her eyelids, saying, "Even you believe me. Why won't he?"
"Because he loves you too much," Leon answered.
"Love me too much?" Susan then sneered. "If he loves me, why won't he listen to my explanation? If he loves me, why does he hold my vulnerabilities against me and not let me see the kids? If he loves me, he wouldn't hurt me again and again. If he loves me, how could he have one woman after another by his side? Doesn't he know it makes me sad? Leon, I admit he might have loved me before, but now he doesn't care about me at all, so I can't help you!"
After saying this, Susan sat down in the swivel chair, resting her head on one hand, feeling deeply distressed.
Seeing Susan's sadness, Leon frowned slightly, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "You've been with Mr. Anderson on and off for so many years, you should know him well. He appears cold, proud, and arrogant, but he's actually very soft-hearted and values loyalty and relationships. He's pushing you away because he's hurting. He can't get past this perceived betrayal. Deep down, he doesn't want to believe it."
Susan still kept her head down and didn't speak.
Leon looked at Susan and said, "He goes to the bar to get drunk every night now. I'm at my wit's end."
Seeing that Susan still didn't speak, Leon said, "I won't bother you anymore. I'll leave now."
After saying this, Leon turned and walked to the door, but then he stopped, hesitated for a moment, and resolutely turned back to look at Susan, saying, "Mr. Anderson has had many women around him recently, but he's just playing along with them. He has no substantial relationship with any of them, including Esme!"
Hearing this, Susan looked at Leon in shock.
After a while, Susan sneered in disbelief, "Leon, do you really need to lie like this to get me to comfort Seb?"
In response to Susan's doubt, Leon said seriously, "You should know my character. I never lie. Whether you believe it or not, I'm telling the truth! I've been with Mr. Anderson for so many years. He's never been one to indulge in meaningless flings. He's not wired that way. This playboy act is just that, an act. He hasn't touched any of those women. He's angry, he's hurting, and he's trying to provoke a reaction from you. It's all for show."
Hearing this, Susan stared blankly at Leon.
He looked calm and not at all guilty.
The next moment, Leon said, "I'll leave now!"
After saying this, Leon opened the door and walked out directly.
After Leon left, Susan sat dazed in the swivel chair for more than ten minutes before gradually coming to her senses.
Seb and Esme, and all those other women—he never had any relationships with them? He was just trying to upset her?
The next moment, Susan stood up from the swivel chair and paced back and forth in the office.
Susan trusted Leon's character, but she found it hard to believe this matter.
Those women had looks, figures, and charm. Seb didn't touch them? Susan found it hard to believe. How could it be possible?
That day, Susan kept thinking about this in the office and couldn't focus on work at all.
When she got off work in the afternoon, Susan walked out of the office with her purse and saw Isabella putting on makeup at her desk.
Seeing this, Susan walked over with a smile and said, "Going on a date with Leon today?"
Hearing this, Isabella blushed and smiled. "He said he might have time to be with me later today, but I haven't received his call yet. I guess it won't happen again."
"Then why don't you call him and ask? Don't waste such beautiful makeup," Susan shook her head and said.
Hearing this, Isabella thought for a moment and then immediately took out her phone. "Then I'll call him."
The call was quickly connected, and after saying a few words, Leon hung up.
"What? He doesn't have time?" Susan asked, seeing Isabella's unhappy face.
"Yeah." Isabella irritably put away her makeup kit.
"You have a long future together; a few days apart won't hurt." Susan knew Leon was busy with Seb's affairs and could only comfort Isabella this way.
"He's always this busy. I don't want him working for Seb anymore, but the pay is too high!" Isabella pouted.
"You always have to make choices," Susan patted Isabella's shoulder.
"How about we go for Mexican food together? On such a cold day, it will warm our wounded hearts," Isabella suddenly suggested.
"Sure," Susan smiled and nodded.
After all, going home alone would only make her overthink. It was better to spend the evening with Isabella, at least she would have someone to talk to.
Then, the two went to a very classy Mexican restaurant. Susan was in a bad mood, so she chose this high-end place. 'Isn't it said that spending money can make women happy?' she thought, and decided to give it a try today.
The exquisitely decorated environment, the courteous waitstaff, the bright and appropriate lighting, and the well-mannered diners all highlighted the class and price of the place.
After the waiter served the dishes, Isabella glanced around the surroundings and whispered, "Did you win the lottery today? You actually spent money to bring me here for Mexican food?"
