Chapter 815 Great News
Thinking about it, Susan started pacing back and forth in the study, feeling all jittery.
She figured she should just call him back, thinking maybe it was something urgent.
Just as she was about to dial, her phone rang again.
It was Seb's number flashing on the screen.
Without thinking twice, Susan picked up.
"Hello?" Her voice was all tense.
"Susan?" Seb's deep, unmistakable voice came through.
Hearing him, Susan's heart skipped a beat.
Even though they were miles apart, she felt like he was right there with her.
She quickly asked, "Why'd you call out of the blue? Is something wrong? Are you okay? How's the company? Any problems lately? And..."
She bombarded him with questions, and Seb just listened. Realizing she might be overdoing it, Susan went quiet.
She could hear him breathing, then he spoke. "Don't worry, I'm fine, the company's great, and if there's anything bothering me, it's just one thing."
"What's bothering you?" Susan asked, frowning.
Seb paused before saying, "The hardest part is not seeing you, Hayden, and Spring."
Susan was taken aback for a moment, then she smiled. "You sure know how to sweet-talk."
"Indeed, do you want to kiss me?" Seb teased on the other end of the line.
"Can you be serious for once?" Susan blushed, feeling flustered by his flirtation.
"Alright, I’m being completely serious now," Seb replied, sitting up straight.
Then she added, "I know you couldn't resist calling, but let's not make this a habit. We agreed on this, remember?"
Seb chuckled softly.
"What's so funny?" Susan frowned.
"No matter how much I miss you, I wouldn't call without a good reason. I know you'd get mad," Seb said, amused.
Susan got nervous. "What good reason? Is it my mom, Dorothy, or someone else?" She had a bad feeling.
Seb quickly reassured her, "No, they're all fine."
"Okay, that's a relief," Susan sighed.
"I need to tell you about Andrew," Seb's tone got serious.
Hearing Andrew's name, Susan asked, "Has the verdict been reached?"
"Death penalty, and it's happening immediately," Seb replied.
Susan felt a whirlwind of emotions.
This was the outcome Andrew deserved; he had lost his humanity for wealth and power.
But she couldn't help feeling a bit sentimental, remembering how close they once were, and now he was about to die.
"Are you feeling conflicted?" Seb asked after a long silence.
"I'm just sad about how someone could fall so far, that's all. You gotta believe me!" Susan knew Seb still had a bit of jealousy when it came to Andrew.
Seb suddenly laughed. "You underestimate me. I'm not jealous of a guy who lost his humanity. Andrew's a total jerk."
"I know you hate him." Andrew had caused Rylee's death, and Susan knew Seb wished he could tear him apart.
"I've got some bittersweet news," Seb said next.
"What news?" Susan asked, frowning.
His serious tone made her nervous, wondering what it could be.
Seb took a deep breath. "During Andrew's interrogation, the cops accidentally uncovered the cause of my mom's death."
Susan's nerves went on high alert, and her hand holding the phone started to shake. "What was the cause?" she asked, her voice trembling.
For years, the huge rift between Susan and Seb had been Carol's death. Carol had misunderstood Susan deeply, leaving a dying wish for Seb to divorce her.
Seb replied, "My mom didn't accidentally fall down the stairs; Andrew pushed her from behind!"
Susan's eyes widened in shock. "How could this be?"
"I couldn't believe it either, but the confession was clear. I thought back, and yeah, only my mom, you, and Andrew were upstairs that day," Seb said.
"Why would Andrew do that?" Susan was at a loss, her mind spinning.
"My mom had made a will to split her estate between Rylee and me. With my mom's death, Rylee could inherit her estate, and Rylee always obeyed Andrew. Looking back, he was also trying to drive a wedge between us and my mom, and my mom believed him," Seb said, his voice filled with anger.
"So, Carol was completely deceived by Andrew. Even though she didn't like me, she wouldn't have left a dying wish for you to divorce me if it weren't for Andrew." Susan felt a deep sense of injustice.
Andrew had committed numerous heartless acts, leading to the downfall of the Anderson Family.
"My mom and Rylee were both killed by him. I wish I could tear him apart!" Seb punched the table.
Susan heard the muffled thud over the phone.
"Seb, I know you're hurting and have no outlet, but Andrew has already been punished by the law. Don't do anything rash!" Susan quickly said.
After a long silence, Seb slowly said, "Don't worry, Andrew's been sentenced to death. I won't do anything foolish. I just regret not taking action sooner, knowing he was up to no good. I tolerated him for Rylee's sake, and it led to the destruction of my family!"
