Chapter 931 Anger
Upon hearing this, Isabella quickly joked, "Oh, I'm thirty, not exactly a spring chicken anymore."
She was always straightforward. Isabella knew she could be brash, but now, in front of this polished lawyer, she felt a bit uneasy.
Hearing Isabella's blunt words, Alfonso lowered his head and chuckled.
Isabella couldn't help but mock herself, "And now I'm also a limp."
Alfonso burst into laughter. "You're the funniest girl I've ever met."
"Is that a compliment?" Isabella asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Of course." Alfonso nodded.
Isabella smirked. "Thanks for the compliment."
Just then, the food arrived.
Isabella was starving, so she didn't hold back and started digging into her steak.
To be honest, Alfonso's choice of dishes was spot on; the steak was really delicious.
"Your taste in food is pretty good," Isabella said between bites.
"It's your appetite that's impressive." Alfonso laughed.
Isabella suddenly found Alfonso not so annoying and started chatting with him, "Hey, you're not young anymore, and you're quite the catch. Why didn't you bring back a beautiful foreign wife?"
Alfonso didn't expect Isabella to ask such a question, so he frowned and quietly replied, "I don't like foreigners!"
Hearing this, Isabella couldn't help but smile.
"And you? You're quite a catch too. Why haven't you gotten married?" Alfonso asked curiously.
Hearing this, Isabella frowned and replied while munching on her salad, "Those who like me, I don't like them. Those I like, they don't like me. So, here I am."
After Isabella finished speaking, she didn't hear Alfonso say anything for a while. When she looked up, she saw him smiling deeply.
"What are you laughing at?" Isabella stared at Alfonso, feeling his smile was a bit creepy.
Alfonso then slowly said, "I think it's normal. Love is a mutual selection!"
"I have to find someone I like, right?" Isabella smirked.
"Yeah, it's finding someone who appreciates you." Alfonso laughed.
"I see lawyers are good with words!" Isabella affirmed Alfonso's statement.
"To be honest, Lawyers usually offend people," Alfonso said, intertwining his fingers, looking very interested in Isabella.
At this moment, Isabella looked around at the people and the dining environment, then quietly asked, "Is this place expensive?"
"It's okay, about $100 per person," Alfonso said.
Hearing this, Isabella frowned and said, "Let's split the bill today."
Alfonso immediately frowned and asked, "Ms. Brown, what do you mean?"
"You're a lawyer, and you don't get this? We probably won't meet again. It's our first meeting, and I've eaten the meal, so I can't let you take the hit. I'll pay half the bill, even though you probably ate more than me, but I won't mind that!" Isabella said boldly.
Alfonso hesitated for a moment, then suddenly asked, "How do you know we won't meet again?"
Isabella couldn't help but ask, "Do you have any fixed assets?"
"The house and car in Maple Valley were provided by my parents. I've worked in Averlake for a few years and bought a house and a car there," Alfonso answered sincerely.
"What's your annual salary now?" Isabella asked again.
Alfonso thought for a moment and said, "I just returned to the country last year, so it's been about a year. My annual salary last year was around $70,000. However, there's a lot of room for growth, at least doubling."
Isabella then said, "Exactly, you're so outstanding in every way. Why would you be interested in someone like me, so ordinary without any fixed assets? I think your cousin introduced you to the wrong person!"
Alfonso smiled. "I wouldn't mind being friends with you. I'm very happy to have met you today. If you're open to being friends, let me treat you today. Would I have that honor?"
"Friends? What kind of friends are you talking about?" Isabella asked in surprise, feeling things were getting out of control.
"Just ordinary friends." Alfonso smiled.
Isabella felt a bit embarrassed.
Looking at Alfonso's sincere smile, if she didn't even agree to be ordinary friends, it would be a bit rude.
Having a lawyer friend wasn't bad either; at least she could consult him on legal matters in the future.
So, the next moment, Isabella smiled and said, "Then I'll treat you next time, don't refuse!"
Hearing Isabella agree, Alfonso said happily, "Of course, although my salary is not low, I can't always be the one paying, right?"
Hearing this joke, Isabella also laughed.
Afterward, Alfonso and Isabella had a pleasant conversation, the atmosphere was relaxed, as if they were old friends.
However, at this moment, in a corner of the restaurant, a pair of deep eyes were filled with jealousy and anger.
Leon received a call from the caregiver, saying that Isabella was going on a blind date tonight, so he rushed to Daily Bites Restaurant.
Unexpectedly, Leon saw Isabella talking and laughing with a man while eating.
Seeing the relaxed and happy smile on Isabella's face, Leon felt it was so glaring.
'Isabella, how dare you secretly go on a blind date with a man? Are you out of her mind?' Leon was furious.
