Chapter 637 Hypocrisy
Although she was already at the exit, Susan didn't want to leave any more bad memories of George's wedding.
So, with a conciliatory attitude, Susan said, "This isn't your wedding. You're meddling too much. I have things to do and no time to argue with you."
After saying that, Susan turned to leave.
Seeing Susan so calm, Rylee became even angrier and grabbed Susan's arm. Her long nails dug into Susan's skin, causing her to wince in pain and furrow her brows.
"You're no longer my sister-in-law, so I don't have to hold back. Today, I'm going to teach you a good lesson," Rylee said arrogantly.
Despite this, Susan still didn't want to have a conflict with her, especially not at George's wedding. After all, many of the guests were friends and family of the Anderson family, and many of them knew Susan. She had just greeted them earlier. Even though she was no longer a member of the Anderson family, she didn't want to start a fight with Rylee in public.
"Rylee, don't push your luck. If we start fighting here, you'll be the one embarrassed! I'm just a nobody now, but you? You're Prosperity Group royalty." Susan warned Rylee sharply.
However, Rylee sneered, "You brought this on yourself. Where's Seb to protect you now? He despises you. Even George, who used to be so smitten, chose someone else. Today, you're going to learn your place."
With that, Rylee raised her hand and swung it with all her might towards Susan's face.
Seeing Rylee's hand coming at her, Susan was momentarily stunned and tried to step back, but it seemed too late.
At the critical moment, a strong arm reached out and grabbed Rylee's wrist!
Rylee's hand didn't land on Susan's face. Susan looked up and saw a tall figure standing beside her.
Seeing him, Susan felt a sense of relief.
Rylee frowned when she saw who it was and then complained, "Seb, why are you stopping me from hitting this bitch?"
Seb, holding Rylee's wrist, scolded her sternly, "Rylee, do you know where we are? Stop making a scene!"
Seeing Seb still protecting Susan, Rylee pulled her hand back and argued, "Seb, she's no longer your wife. Why are you still protecting her? I'm your sister. Am I less important than a woman who has nothing to do with you?"
Seb glanced at Susan and then said to Rylee earnestly, "Even though she's no longer my wife, she's still the mother of your nephew and niece. For that alone, you should show her some respect!"
"Respect? Did she respect Mom back then? If she hadn't gone to celebrate Mom's birthday that day, would Mom have fallen down the stairs and died?" Rylee questioned Seb emotionally.
Seb's face turned grim, and his lips trembled. He didn't say anything for a moment.
At this point, Andrew suddenly walked over, took Rylee's hand, and tried to calm her down. "Rylee, you're being unreasonable. How can you talk back to Seb like that?"
"Andrew, is he really my brother? When Mom was alive, he always protected this woman. Now that Mom is gone, he's still protecting her. If it weren't for this woman, would our family be so broken? Overnight, I became an orphan," Rylee said, tears streaming down her face.
Seeing Rylee cry, Seb clenched his fists.
Susan looked up at Seb's grim face and could see the pain and helplessness in his eyes as he looked at Rylee.
At this moment, Susan felt conflicted. It was indeed because of her that the Anderson family ended up like this. It seemed that her decision not to be with Seb was the right one. If they continued to be together, they would have to face such situations every day. She knew Seb must be feeling very hurt and tormented inside.
Andrew held the aggrieved Rylee in his arms and comforted her, "Rylee, don't be sad. You still have me. I'll take good care of you and protect you. Don't blame Seb. He's your only family now!"
Seeing Andrew's hypocritical behavior, Susan felt a bit nauseous.
At this moment, Seb directly accused Andrew, "Andrew, why are you pretending here? You can fool Rylee, but stop taking advantage of her kindness!"
Andrew, looking aggrieved, replied, "Seb, what are you talking about? I've never deceived Rylee. We've been married for years, and our love is deep."
Seb sneered, "You know what you've done. I'm warning you, you'd better treat Rylee well, or I won't let you off!"
Seb's harsh words made Susan realize that Seb was aware of Andrew's actions and that there was already deep conflict between them. Otherwise, Seb wouldn't have warned Andrew in front of Rylee.
Seeing Seb accuse Andrew, Rylee looked at Seb with puzzled eyes and shook her head. "Seb, what's wrong with you? Andrew treats me so well, why are you accusing him? Dad left us, Mom died, and now you've turned against me too? Is it because Mom left me half her shares? You don't have to worry, if you want them, I'll give them to you. I won't fight you for them!"
Rylee looked at Seb with tearful eyes, and Seb's expression was conflicted and pained. He pointed at Andrew and said, "Rylee, you trust this man too much. He had ulterior motives from the beginning. Be careful with him! Don't talk to me about the shares. Since Mom left them to you, I have no complaints!"
After saying that, Seb turned and stormed out of the banquet hall.
Seeing Seb leave, Susan quickly followed him.
With Seb gone, Rylee cried even harder. Andrew held her shoulders and comforted her, "Rylee, maybe Seb is just angry. Don't take it to heart."
