Chapter 340 Leave Everything to Me

Maybe it was all the bottled-up frustration, grievances, and panic from the past few days that finally got to her. Susan just lost it and started bawling her eyes out in Seb's arms.

Feeling her sobs shaking his chest, Seb hugged her tighter, resting his chin on her head, letting her soak up his warmth.

A few minutes later, Seb's white shirt was a total mess, drenched in tears and snot, and wrinkled beyond recognition.

Once she calmed down, Susan pulled away from his embrace.

"Had a good cry?" Seb teased, his eyes locked on hers.

"Yeah," Susan mumbled, taking the tissue he handed her and wiping her nose.

Seb glanced down at his shirt and chuckled. "Well, my shirt's been through the wringer today."

Susan noticed the front of his shirt was soaked and wrinkled, all thanks to her meltdown.

But Susan wasn't one to back down. While wiping her tears, she said, "Take it off; I'll wash it for you. Your shirts are all designer, and I can't afford to replace them!"

Her face was still streaked with tears, but there was a hint of mischief and stubbornness in her eyes. Her long lashes were slightly curled, making her look adorably pitiful.

Seb really wanted to say, "Just replace yourself," but he knew now wasn't the time for jokes.

So, he cleared his throat and said seriously, "Alright, spill everything about the Skyreach Group budget case. You gotta take this seriously now because if you're nailed for a business crime, you could end up in jail. Got it?"

Susan knew her situation was dire. She didn't want to go to jail, so now wasn't the time to argue with Seb.

She told him everything, from how Fiona handed the case to Elliott and her, to what happened in between, and how Elliott suddenly got acute appendicitis. She laid it all out because her mind was a mess, and she didn't know what might be useful.

After listening, Seb thought for a moment before saying, "Looks like you've been set up by Fiona, and Elliott's in on it too!"

Susan had the same suspicion and asked, confused, "Why would Fiona and Elliott go to such lengths to frame me? How many people did they rope in for this?"

She was frustrated. Fiona and Elliott were so petty. Wasn't it exhausting for them to go to such lengths to mess with her?

Seb sneered, "You think they didn't get anything out of this?"

Susan frowned, not getting what he meant.

Seb continued, "I don't have any proof, but I bet Fiona and Elliott are the ones leaking the Skyreach Group budget proposal to their competitors!"

Susan's jaw practically hit the floor. "Wait, you're saying they leaked the docs, pocketed the cash, and then pinned it all on me?"

"Yep," Seb confirmed with a nod.

A shiver ran down Susan's spine.

She'd thought Fiona and Elliott were just out for revenge. But out of her expectation, they took the money and benefits and made her the fall guy. Their intentions were downright evil. They'd do anything for a buck, proving they were rotten to the core.

And it wasn't just about the money. Fiona and Elliott wanted to ruin her. If she got convicted, she could spend years in prison. Fiona was ruthless, hell-bent on destroying her life.

Seeing the fear in Susan's eyes, Seb grabbed her hand. "Don't stress. I'll handle it."

Susan knew she had to trust Seb completely now. It was ironic; she'd always resisted him, but now she had no choice but to lean on him. She sighed inwardly.

She couldn't afford to be stubborn now. If she went to jail, her future and reputation would be trashed, and she'd be separated from her kids. If they found out their mom had been a prisoner, how could she face them? She'd bring shame to her children.

But even with Seb's help, Susan wouldn't do anything she didn't want to. She wouldn't compromise her principles.

Seeing her frown, Seb asked, "What's on your mind?"

After all these years, Susan knew Seb wasn't a bad guy. She didn't think ill of him; she just wanted to keep her dignity. But in the face of survival, dignity seemed pretty worthless.

"Even though I know they set me up, I don't have any proof," Susan said, frustrated.

"You've told me everything. Leave the rest to me," Seb said, looking deeply into her eyes.

Susan met his gaze, realizing his focus was entirely on her.

Seb was almost like a superhero. If she asked, he'd move mountains for her. But he was also a bit of a control freak, always deciding what was best for her without asking what she really wanted.

What she wanted was a partner to face life's storms with, to share love and companionship. Someone who'd always be there for both the highs and the lows. As long as their hearts were in sync, they could tackle anything. Even if they failed, they'd face it together.

But when Hayden needed them most, Seb chose to shoulder everything alone.

She was Hayden's mom, the one who gave him life. How could she be absent at such a crucial moment? Susan hated herself for not being there for Hayden's treatment, for not fulfilling her duty as a mother when he needed her most.
