Chapter 399 Who Is He With
Seb paused for a sec on the other end, then chuckled and said, "It's truly a guy. No reason to lie. He's an old buddy; our families go way back."
"Really? I heard some soft tunes playing in the background. Must be a pretty romantic spot, huh? Two grown men having dinner there, that's something," Susan laughed.
Seb replied, "Heard the food's good, so we decided to check it out."
"Is it a well-known place?" Susan asked, fishing for info.
She just wanted to figure out where Seb was eating so she could surprise him.
"Yeah, Velvet Sky Restaurant. It's pretty famous in the central district," Seb laughed.
Hearing this, Susan made a mental note of Velvet Sky Restaurant.
"Alright, I won't bug you anymore. Enjoy your meal," Susan said.
"Where are you?" Seb suddenly asked.
"Just got off work, picked up some stuff on the way home. Almost there," Susan lied smoothly.
Seb advised, "It's already dark. Get home quick and have dinner. Take care of yourself and the kids."
"Got it," Susan nodded.
"I'll hang up now," Seb said, and then he ended the call.
Susan then flagged down a taxi.
"Where to?" the driver asked.
"Velvet Sky Restaurant," Susan replied.
The driver nodded and headed off.
In the car, Susan smirked to herself, thinking, 'Can't wait to see Seb's face when I show up.'
"Going to Velvet Sky for dinner?" the driver started chatting.
"I'm going to find my kids' dad," Susan said, almost saying husband but catching herself.
The driver immediately said, "Your family must be loaded. Only the rich and powerful eat at Velvet Sky. I've heard a meal there costs thousands."
"You're exaggerating. He's just having dinner with a friend," Susan laughed.
Soon, they arrived at Velvet Sky Restaurant.
As soon as she walked in, a receptionist approached and asked, "Do you have a reservation?"
"Oh, my kids' dad is dining inside," Susan said, knowing it sounded a bit off but it was the truth.
"Is he in the main hall, a private room, or the rooftop revolving restaurant?" the receptionist asked.
Susan was taken aback.
Velvet Sky Restaurant was huge, occupying an entire building. How was she supposed to know where Seb was?
"It's under Mr. Anderson's reservation," Susan said.
The receptionist smiled and said, "Please wait a moment."
A minute later, the receptionist smiled and said, "A Mr. Anderson has a reservation in the rooftop revolving restaurant tonight."
"Thanks," Susan said and headed straight to the elevator.
The elevator had a promo poster highlighting the revolving restaurant. The oval-shaped rooftop spot was surrounded by transparent glass, looking like a dazzling pearl from afar.
The revolving restaurant had only about twenty tables, and the prices were sky-high. Reservations had to be made half a month in advance.
Seeing the promo poster in the elevator, Susan frowned. 'Didn't Seb just say he heard this place was good and decided to come on a whim? But seats of the revolving restaurant here have to be made half a month in advance,' she thought.
Thinking this, Susan figured she must've come to the wrong spot. Seb and his buddy were probably in a private room or the main hall downstairs.
But the elevator had already reached the top floor. 'Maybe Seb's friend made the reservation in advance. I should go in and check if Seb is there,' she thought as she stepped out.
As soon as she got out, she saw a lounge area filled with sofas, with a few people either reading newspapers or playing on their phones.
Judging by their attire, Susan thought, 'These folks are probably the secretaries or drivers of the diners inside, waiting for their bosses to finish up.'
Then, her eyes caught a familiar figure in a black suit, sitting on a single sofa reading a newspaper.
Seeing him, Susan knew she hadn't come to the wrong place.
"Leon!" Susan called out joyfully as she approached.
Hearing her voice, Leon looked up sharply and was stunned to see Susan standing in front of him!
"Is Seb dining inside?" Seeing Leon's shocked expression, Susan thought Seb would probably be even more surprised to see her.
The next moment, Leon put down the newspaper and awkwardly said, "Ms. Wilson, what brings you here?"
"Oh, I had some business in the central district. I called Seb, and he said he was dining here, so I came to find him," Susan said with a smile, glancing into the brightly lit revolving restaurant.
"Mr. Anderson called you?" Leon's eyes showed a hint of disbelief.
At this moment, Susan noticed Leon's unnatural expression.
Then, Leon suddenly blocked Susan's path and pulled her to the elevator entrance.
"Ms. Wilson, Mr. Anderson's meeting today is very important. It's best not to disturb him. How about I arrange for you to stay at a hotel, and after Mr. Anderson finishes his meal, I'll bring him to you. How does that sound?" As Leon spoke, his eyes glanced at the entrance, his hands gesturing in the air, looking quite nervous.
A deep sense of doubt arose in Susan's heart. Leon was a very discreet person and had never touched her before. This time, he actually grabbed her arm, which was impossible under normal circumstances.
Moreover, Leon was usually very calm and never panicked, but today he seemed flustered, waving his hands in the air, and his eyes kept glancing at the entrance of the revolving restaurant.
Susan stared coldly at Leon and seriously asked, "Leon, why are you so nervous today?"
"Nervous? I'm not," Leon spread his hands, pretending to be relaxed.
Leon's unusual behavior did not escape Susan's notice. She looked towards the entrance and asked, "Leon, tell me the truth. Who is Seb dining with today?"
Susan had a pretty good idea. The person dining with Seb must be someone special, and Leon was trying his best to get her to leave.
For a moment, Leon couldn't come up with an answer.
