Chapter 587 He Made a Decision

Time slipped by, each day a little less sharp, the edges of Susan's grief gradually dulled by the passage of time.

Although she was still deeply saddened inside, she had managed to regain her composure on the surface. She resumed working hard, spending time with the children, and waiting for Seb's return and decision.

That morning, Susan was sitting at the dining table having breakfast.

Mary was holding Spring and sitting beside her, while Hayden was eating heartily on his own. Kathy was attending to them, and as usual, the dining table was very peaceful.

"Hayden, are you full?" Seeing Hayden start to wipe his mouth with a napkin, Susan smiled and reached out to help him wipe his greasy mouth.

"Yes," Hayden nodded.

"Then let Kathy take you to school," Susan said with a smile.

Although Seb wasn't around, she was grateful to have the children with her, so she didn't feel so lonely. Otherwise, she wouldn't know how to get through the days.

"Okay," Hayden nodded again.

At this moment, Kathy brought over Hayden's backpack and coat, helping him get dressed.

As he was about to leave with his backpack on, Hayden suddenly turned and asked Susan a question that made her feel very sad.

"Mommy, why hasn't Daddy come back after so many days? Wasn't Grandma's funeral over a long time ago?"

Hearing this, Susan frowned slightly.

Sensing the tense atmosphere, Kathy quickly coaxed Hayden, "Hayden, your daddy has been busy lately. He'll be back soon."

"Soon? I miss Daddy so much," Hayden said, feeling very aggrieved.

The next moment, Susan slowly walked over, squatted down, held Hayden's shoulders, and smiled. "Your daddy will be back very soon. Be good and behave well in preschool. He will be very happy."

"Okay," Hayden immediately nodded and left holding Kathy's hand.

"Daddy, Daddy, I want Daddy," Spring started fussing as Hayden left.

Turning to look at Spring, who wasn't eating properly, Susan felt very uncomfortable.

Both children were very attached to Seb; they couldn't be without him.

Two days later, Susan was sitting in the living room when she heard footsteps approaching.

Soon, Kathy, dressed in black, walked in.

"Mrs. Susan Anderson, why are you back so early today?" Kathy was startled to see Susan in the living room.

Susan smiled and said, "I had a meeting with a client nearby, so I came home."

"I see," Kathy said, noticing Susan glancing at her clothes. She quickly added, "Today is the day to pay respects to Mrs. Carol Anderson. I went to pay my respects."

Actually, Susan knew today was the day to pay respects to Carol. She had come home early specifically to get some news about Seb from Kathy.

It had been over a month, and he hadn't come home or even called. It seemed like he had forgotten not only her but also the children.

Susan understood that he hadn't forgotten them; he just didn't know how to face her.

His mother's dying wish hung over him like a shroud, but fulfilling it would mean abandoning Susan and their children.

"Were there many people there?" Susan asked nonchalantly.

"Close members of the Anderson family were there," Kathy quickly replied.

Susan then lowered her head and said nothing.

Kathy, realizing what Susan wanted, quickly added, "Rylee cried a lot, Mr. Anderson looked very haggard, but Andrew seemed to be in high spirits."

"What do you mean?" Susan asked, puzzled.

After all, Carol was his biggest supporter. Why would he be happy now that she was gone?

"After Mrs. Carol Anderson passed away, her estate had to be inherited. I heard the inheritance procedures were completed a few days ago. Mr. Anderson and Rylee each inherited half of Mrs. Carol Anderson's shares, and some real estate and cash were left to Rylee. Rylee is very naive and trusts Andrew completely, so all those shares and assets are essentially in Andrew's hands. Mrs. Susan Anderson, I always felt Andrew wasn't sincere towards Rylee, and he didn't seem sad about Mrs. Carol Anderson's death," Kathy complained.

Hearing this, Susan frowned.

Andrew was indeed a person with ill intentions. Rylee was much easier to deceive than Carol. Now that Rylee had suddenly inherited such a large fortune, Andrew was the biggest beneficiary. No wonder he was happy.

Susan was a bit worried. Given Andrew's character, he would definitely try to gain more power in Prosperity Group. His actions would likely become more blatant, and she couldn't help but worry for Seb.

Seeing Susan remain silent, Kathy cautiously said, "Mrs. Susan Anderson, Mr. Anderson hasn't come back for so long. Although Mrs. Carol Anderson left a will, you can't just leave everything to fate!"

"Kathy, I know what I'm doing. It's getting late; you should go pick up Hayden from school," Susan said, not wanting to talk further.

Seeing Susan's attitude, Kathy nodded. "I'll go pick up Hayden then."

After Kathy left, Susan was lost in thought when the phone suddenly rang.

She picked up her phone and saw an unfamiliar number. Without thinking much, she answered the call.

"Is this Mrs. Anderson?" a man's voice came from the other end.

"Yes, who is this?" Susan asked nonchalantly.

"Hello, I'm Mr. Anderson's lawyer. Mr. Anderson has entrusted me to handle some matters for you. Please come to my law firm at 9 AM tomorrow," the man said.

"Okay," Susan replied, although she had many questions, she didn't have the courage to ask. She simply agreed and hung up the phone.

Staring at the still-flashing screen, Susan was stunned for a long time.

His lawyer? To handle some matters?

A divorce agreement?

The thought immediately popped into Susan's mind. She couldn't think of any other reason Seb's lawyer would contact her.

Susan slumped onto the sofa, her hands trembling slightly.

Had he decided to give her up? Although she had known this would be the outcome, she still couldn't accept it.

She sat there for a long time before coming to terms with the reality.

Then, she went upstairs and started packing her things.

Having lived here for so long, her belongings were everywhere, and she didn't know where to start.

Sitting on the bed, Susan rubbed her face hard with her hands.

She knew she had to face what was coming. She didn't know what arrangements Seb had for the children. Would he take custody of both children? Or would they be separated, each parent taking one child?

The thought of being separated from one of her children made Susan very sad, but she also thought it might be for the best. At least they would each have one child to keep them company, so neither of them would be too lonely.
