Chapter 13

The news about Susan and Henry having dinner got to Seb in no time.

Seb's pen dug into the document, and his face turned dark.

Seeing Seb's reaction, Leon quickly said, "Mr. Anderson, it was just a meeting, probably nothing more..."

Leon stopped because Seb looked like he was about to explode.

Seb frowned, thought for a moment, and then ordered, "Issue the command: the company headquarters must complete the reorganization by the end of this month, and the Maple Valley branch will be dissolved."

"Yes, sir." Leon responded and rushed to carry out the order.

After Leon left, Seb opened the drawer and saw Susan's photo on the resume.

He snorted. "Daring to meet another man while carrying my child."

This incident made Seb eager to reunite with Susan. It was time for him to make an appearance. Seb had initially feared that revealing his true identity would scare Susan, but now it seemed she needed a scare. Susan couldn't be left to roam freely; she had to be kept under his watchful eye.

Early the next morning, as soon as Susan walked into the office, she heard her colleagues discussing something.

"Did you see the announcement? Our fate will be decided by the end of the month."

"Why bother working if we're all going to be laid off?"

"Didn't they say the reorganization would happen next month?"

"Who knows, maybe the boss just made a spur-of-the-moment decision."

Seeing the office in a state of panic, Susan sat at her desk with mixed feelings.

She quietly touched her belly and thought to herself, 'If I got laid off, what would myunborn child eat?'

Around the corner in the hallway, Amelia and Melissa were whispering.

"It's been days. Did you get the evidence?" Amelia asked anxiously.

"Not yet," Melissa shook her head.

"Decisions on personnel retention will be made in a few days. It will be too late for you to gather evidence then," Amelia said urgently.

Melissa thought for a moment and said, "I'll make my move when they go to lunch today. You keep an eye on the cafeteria and call me if anyone comes back."

"Deal!" Amelia nodded.

At lunchtime, Amelia ate while keeping an eye on everyone in the finance department.

Just as she was finishing her meal, Amelia received a text message.

She glanced at her phone and then smiled smugly.

Amelia then got up and left.

As she passed by Susan, who was eating, she flashed a cold smile.

Seeing Amelia's arrogant look, Susan frowned.

Isabella, sitting across from Susan, watched Amelia's back and said, "Why do I feel like her look is so sinister?"

"Of course it's sinister. She probably dreams of seeing me in trouble." Susan shrugged.

"She seems really off," Isabella frowned.

Three days later.

Isabella suddenly called Susan out of the office.

"What's up? Why so mysterious?" Susan frowned and asked.

Isabella hesitated for a moment before frowning and answering, "I just heard from a temp in HR that someone has reported you for being pregnant out of wedlock and having questionable conduct. They said they submitted evidence."

Susan was stunned.

She thought she had hidden it well, but it had still been exposed.

"Reporting you at this critical time clearly means they want you fired." Isabella said.

At this point, Susan felt a sense of calm. After days of torment, no matter how hard she tried, she still ended up facing dismissal.

"It must be that Amelia. I remember her giving you those strange looks a few days ago." Isabella recalled.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" Isabella asked anxiously when she saw Susan's silence.

Susan walked to the window, looking down at the people and cars below like ants. Suddenly, she laughed and said, "I've been afraid of being laid off these past few days, couldn't sleep well. Well, now I'm definitely getting fired. I'll sleep well tonight and think about what to do next tomorrow."

"You have a great attitude. Aren't you going to confront Amelia?" Isabella shook her head, not understanding.

Susan turned back, the breeze blowing through her long hair, and calmly said, "My main task now is to safely give birth to this child."
