Chapter 1224 Token of Love

Cecilia blushed and said with a smile, "Alright, I won't talk to you anymore. I need to start memorizing my lines."

After saying that, Cecilia hung up the phone, but her face still held a happy smile.

After hanging up the phone, Daryl smoked one cigarette after another, not knowing how to resolve Azalea's prejudice against Cecilia.

In the blink of an eye, it was Friday afternoon, and Cecilia kept looking at herself in the full-length mirror.

Sitting on the sofa, Daryl occasionally glanced at his watch.

"Do I look okay like this?" Cecilia walked up to him, reaching out to adjust her meticulously styled ponytail.

Tonight, she was wearing a white long dress, with a pair of crystal-clear earrings on her ears. Her slender neck revealed a beautiful collarbone, giving an impression of elegance, beauty, and grace.

Daryl scrutinized her for a moment, then touched his chin and said, "It seems like something's missing."

"What's missing?" Cecilia looked down at herself, not knowing what she was lacking.

She had been dressing up in the room for two hours, taking a shower, blow-drying her hair, changing clothes, and putting on makeup. She really couldn't figure out what else could be missing.

He smiled, then stood up, walked over to her, and took out a small blue velvet box from his pocket, holding it in front of her.

"What's this?" Cecilia looked at the small blue velvet box, feeling a bit familiar, as if she had seen it somewhere before.

But such small boxes were usually for jewelry and accessories, very common.

He opened the box in his hand and held the open box in front of her with one hand.

She looked closely and saw a lily-shaped brooch lying quietly in the box, shining brilliantly in the sunset glow.

Seeing this brooch, she was immediately stunned.

This brooch was the one Cecilia had asked Douglas to return to Daryl a few days ago. She didn't expect it to appear in front of her again.

"You kept it?" her fingers gently stroked the lily petals of the brooch.

"Of course I kept it. It's our token of love, isn't it?" Daryl said.

Cecilia glanced at him and said, "I guessed that when I asked Douglas to return this brooch to you, you were so angry that you threw it into the trash can!"

Daryl's lips twitched, and then he said, "You guessed right, but I didn't throw it into the trash can. I smashed it."

"What? Smashed it? You're such a wasteful person!" Hearing that the brooch was smashed, she immediately took the velvet box from his hand nervously, then gently took the brooch out of the box with her fingers, her eyes nervously examining where the brooch was damaged.

Hearing her words, Daryl couldn't help but laugh. "Don't worry, it's already been repaired."

She finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Then, he took the brooch from her hand and carefully pinned it to her left chest with his large hands.

"Does it look good?" After pinning it, Cecilia looked up at him and asked.

"It looks good." Daryl nodded, then pulled her into his arms.

Then, Daryl said affectionately, "To be honest, when I saw you return this brooch to me, I knew you had made up your mind to leave me. So, seeing this brooch made me feel particularly desperate, and I couldn't help but smash it."

"When did you get it repaired?" Cecilia asked.

Daryl then said with embarrassment, "After I smashed it that day, I never saw it again. When we finally reconciled, I suddenly remembered it one day and had to ask Douglas. Unexpectedly, Douglas had kept it for me. Then I had it repaired."

Cecilia couldn't help but pout and said, "Douglas is thoughtful."

"He saved our token of love," Daryl said.

"You should give him a raise," Cecilia said with a smile.

"He's been getting raises recently," Daryl said with a smile.

"Why? It seems Douglas has been performing well," Cecilia asked.

Daryl curved into a smile and touched her cheek and said, "Because he always helps me seize opportunities at critical moments, so you won't slip away from me!"

Cecilia was stunned. "It has something to do with me?"

"Don't you feel that Douglas has created many opportunities for us?" Daryl asked, looking at her.

Cecilia thought for a moment.

In the past, various signs indicated that Douglas was indeed secretly matchmaking her and Daryl.

Cecilia said, "So he was matchmaking us?"

"Sort of, but we have to love each other for it to work. If you didn't love me, no matter how many opportunities he created, it wouldn't matter, right?" Daryl said with a smile.

"You're annoying, who loves you?" Cecilia shyly pushed him.

Daryl said, "It's getting late. Should we head out?"

"Let's go, let's go. I can't be late as the host!" Cecilia finally realized it was getting late and hurriedly urged Daryl out the door.

He drove her directly to the hotel.

After getting out of the car, he bent his arm towards her, indicating for her to hold his arm.

Cecilia frowned and said, "We better not go in together. You're the special guest of our magazine tonight. It wouldn't look good if we appeared together."

Daryl frowned and said, "What's not good about it? We're in a legitimate relationship now, nothing to hide!"

"We're legitimate, but I'm afraid of gossip. After all, tonight is the magazine's annual party. It's better to keep a low profile, right?" Seeing he seemed unhappy, Cecilia quickly stepped forward and pulled his hand to comfort him.

Daryl couldn't resist her coaxing, so he nodded. "Alright, you go in first, and I'll follow."

"No, you're the honored guest. You should go in first," Cecilia said, shaking his hand.

"You!" Daryl pinched her cheek, then reluctantly turned and walked into the hotel ahead.

A few minutes later, Cecilia started to walk into the hotel.

"Cecilia!" Unexpectedly, a sweet female voice suddenly called from behind.

Hearing someone call her name, Cecilia stopped and turned around, only to see a young, elegantly dressed, and fashionable woman walking towards her.

Cecilia was stunned! She immediately felt a bit nervous, never expecting to see her today.
