Chapter 1021 Weaning

When Susan heard this, she frowned and asked, "So, you already sent a lawyer's letter to Leon? Are you really going for a divorce, or just trying to scare him?"

Isabella glanced at the sleeping Milo and gave a bitter smile. "Do you think I'm just trying to scare him?"

Susan knew Isabella well. She wasn't one to play games; they were pretty similar in that way.

"So, you really want a divorce?" Susan pressed.

"Do you think there's any point in staying together?" Isabella shot back.

"But what about your future? And Milo, he's still so young," Susan said, looking at Milo.

"Susan, you've been through this yourself. I feel the same way you did back then," Isabella replied firmly.

Susan nodded. "Alright, whatever you decide, I'm here for you. If you need anything, just let me know."

"I knew you'd say that," Isabella said with a relieved smile.

Then she added, "I'll need Kathy to help out a bit longer. I can't handle everything alone, and I don't trust outside nannies. Plus, once Milo is weaned, I want to get back to work."

"No problem. I'll make sure Kathy stays to help you," Susan said with a smile.

"There's one more thing I need your help with," Isabella said, getting up and heading to the bedroom.

A minute later, she came back with a blue velvet box. She opened it and handed it to Susan. "Can you help me sell this jewelry? I don't mind if a lower price, as long as it's fair."

Susan looked at the jewelry and frowned. "Isn't this the set Leon gave you?"

"Yeah, he gave it to me before we got married. I'm selling it to support Milo; he shouldn't have a problem with that," Isabella replied.

"If you need money, I can lend you some," Susan offered, knowing Isabella wouldn't take money without a good reason. So, she could only offer a loan.

But Isabella shook her head. "That would make me uneasy. Just help me sell this."

Susan sighed and closed the box. "Alright, I'll find a buyer as soon as I can."

In the days that followed, Leon never showed up, but he had Royce deliver lots of food and baby stuff.

Isabella didn't refuse these items because she didn't want to deprive Milo of his father's love due to the divorce. Milo's health was uncertain, and he needed Leon's care, so Isabella tried to foster their father-son relationship.

Of course, Isabella didn't want to accept Leon's kindness. She gave most of the food to Kathy, keeping only a small portion for Milo, and didn't touch any of it herself. This was her way of maintaining her dignity.

She knew that without Leon, life would be tough, and she could only rely on selling jewelry to support herself and Milo. So, Isabella decided to wean Milo as soon as possible and find a job.

In the following days, Isabella posted resumes online, looked for job ads in newspapers, and contacted several companies. Luckily, she was a certified public accountant, a field with good pay and benefits, and relatively easy to find a job in.

Soon enough, a few companies with decent offers got back to her, inviting her for interviews over the next few days.

The next big thing on Isabella's list was weaning Milo, something she'd been dreading. Milo wasn't even nine months old yet, and while he could eat a variety of foods, Isabella hated the idea of weaning him so early.

But she had no choice. She needed to find a job and get settled quickly. After breastfeeding, if she divorced, she worried Leon might fight for custody of Milo.

That morning, Isabella breastfed Milo for the last time.

As she looked down at Milo nursing quietly, her nose tingled, and tears started to fall.

"Milo, this is the last time I'll nurse you. Make sure you get enough because there won't be any more tonight," Isabella whispered to him.

Kathy, seeing this, frowned and said, "Mrs. Johnson, there's no need to wean Milo so soon. More breastfeeding can boost his immunity. Nowadays, it's recommended to wean babies after a year and a half."

But Isabella's mind was made up. Nothing could change it.

Milo finished all the milk quickly, probably because he was full, and he was very well-behaved.

Isabella kissed Milo on the cheek and handed him to Kathy.

Kathy sighed softly, took Milo, and seeing she couldn't persuade Isabella, advised, "Remember to get a shot to stop the milk. Try to drink less water and eat less liquid food in the next couple of days, or you'll suffer from engorgement."

Isabella nodded and said apologetically, "Kathy, I can't afford a nanny anymore. Now you have to do the housework and take care of Milo. It's really hard on you. I'll pay you extra."

Kathy shook her head. "Mrs. Johnson, what are you talking about? You've bought me expensive clothes and things. Now that you're going through a tough time, I'll definitely take good care of Milo. Besides, the house is smaller now, and the meals are simpler, so it's not as tiring as before."

"Thank you, Kathy," Isabella said gratefully.

Isabella was very thankful for Kathy. If it weren't for her, she wouldn't have trusted anyone else with Milo.

First, Isabella went to a clinic to get a shot to stop the milk, then she headed to the interviews one by one.

She spent the whole day running around, and her feet, in high heels, developed two blisters, making it painful to walk.

But Isabella was pleased because two companies with decent offers were willing to hire her. Now she just had to decide which one to choose.

At that moment, Isabella felt really grateful for all the effortshe put into her CPA exam. It showed that having skills really paid off, especially during tough times.

As dusk fell, Isabella stood by the roadside waiting for the bus. She had to be frugal and save every penny she could.

After a whole day of running around, even though she had only eaten a piece of bread and half a bottle of water for lunch, her breast still felt very sore.

Isabella reached out to touch her breast, and just then, a Porsche suddenly stopped in front of her.
