Chapter 482 Teasing Her
Seb let out a chuckle while driving and said, "I was worried I wouldn't make it this morning, so I just took Leon home, parked the car downstairs at your place, and crashed in the car for the night."
Susan was so shocked she couldn't even find her words.
Sleeping in the car? That must've been rough and uncomfortable. Plus, he was already wiped out from running back and forth to the central district. Susan felt a weird mix of guilt and happiness bubbling up inside her.
Seeing her go silent, Seb grabbed her hand and said, "Hey, don't get all teary-eyed on me now."
Susan's eyes did get a bit red, but she held back the tears.
She quickly covered it up, saying, "You think I'm that soft? This little thing ain't enough to make me cry."
"I've noticed you've been more emotional lately, always on the verge of tears," Seb said.
Susan thought about it and realized he was right. She wasn't as tough as she used to be, probably because of the two kids. She had too much on her mind now, couldn't just let things slide.
"Where are we headed?" Susan asked, noticing they weren't going towards the company.
"Grabbing breakfast, I'm starving," Seb replied.
"I want coffee toast," Susan reminded him of her earlier craving.
"Sure thing, whatever you want," Seb nodded with a smile.
Half an hour later, they were sitting in a cozy breakfast diner.
Susan finished eating first and, resting her chin on her hand, watched Seb devour his food. She laughed and said, "Seb, you've already had five slices of toast, still not full?"
"Two more slices should do it," Seb said, still munching away.
Susan laughed and handed him another slice. "Man, you can really eat. I might go broke feeding you."
Seb used to avoid these roadside diners, thought they were too noisy.
But Susan loved them. She grew up in that kind of hustle and bustle and missed it, so she dragged him along. Over time, he started to enjoy it too, eating with gusto.
Watching him eat, Susan found it funny. Seb used to only eat at fancy places. She never thought she'd have this kind of influence on him.
"No worries, I'll cover the bill," Seb said seriously.
"I can afford coffee toast, eat as much as you want. If it's not enough, we'll order more," Susan joked.
"Eat up, gotta keep your energy up, or you'll get hungry quickly once you start doing all the activity. You look amazing today, did you dress up for me?" Seb said, giving her a teasing look.
Susan had indeed dressed up because she knew she'd see Seb. She just didn't expect him to be waiting downstairs so early.
Today, Susan rocked a pink pullover sweater, a beige trench coat, a black fishtail skirt, and matching high heels. She looked straight-up elegant and classy.
Hearing Seb's comment, Susan blushed and looked down shyly. "What nonsense are you spouting?"
Keeping strength up? All the activity? What was he even hinting at? Susan's heart started racing.
It was still morning, and she had to get to work. Was he planning to take her home now and then...?
Thinking about it, Susan couldn't meet Seb's eyes.
"Are you shy? I didn't even say anything," Seb said, all innocent-like.
Susan quickly raised her head and said seriously, "I have to go to work later, I don't have time to mess around with you."
"What do you mean mess around? Everything I wanna do with you is serious," Seb said, wiping his greasy hands with a napkin from the coffee toast. He then pulled out some cash to pay the bill and eagerly dragged Susan outside.
"Where are you taking me?" Susan asked as she followed him.
Seb ignored her, put her in the passenger seat, got in the car, and hit the road.
Watching him drive, Susan couldn't help but laugh. "Where exactly are you taking me?"
"I'm taking you somewhere," Seb glanced at her and replied.
Susan couldn't help but guess, "This isn't the way home. Are you taking me to a hotel?"
Seb looked at her seriously and asked, "What are we gonna do at a hotel?"
Susan was at a loss for words.
Seeing her shy face, Seb couldn't help but tease, "Why aren't you talking?"
Susan looked straight ahead, trying to keep a straight face. "I'm not interested right now. I need to go to work, hurry up and take me to the office!"
"Not interested in what?" Seb frowned and asked.
Susan glared at him. "I know what you're thinking! Don't play dumb with me!"
"Then tell me, what am I thinking?" Seb continued to ask.
"Your dirty thoughts are too embarrassing to say," Susan pretended to be disgusted.
Seb shook his head and laughed, looking super amused.
"What are you laughing at?" Susan felt something was off but couldn't figure out what.
Seb suddenly said, "I really don't know who's the dirty one, always thinking about weird stuff."
Susan realized she had been tricked again!
She glared at Seb and gritted her teeth, "Are you messing with me again?"
Glancing at Susan's angry face, Seb held back his laughter. "Don't blame an innocent guy, you're the one overthinking!"
"Seb!" Susan shouted his name through gritted teeth, embarrassed and angry.
Seb suddenly turned the steering wheel, making a sharp turn.
Due to the strong inertia, Susan's body leaned towards Seb, and she grabbed the handle in front of her.
Seb smoothly parked the car by the roadside, turned to Susan, and smiled, showing off a row of white teeth.
