Chapter 863 Relaxation
Susan never thought she'd bump into Hugo on the plane, let alone have him sitting right next to her.
"Hugo? You heading back to Velvet City?" Susan asked, flashing a smile.
Hugo and Manuel were both Seb's buddies from Northstar City. Hugo, though, was originally from Zandoria and came from a noble family.
She remembered meeting him at Manuel's farm last time. Hugo had left quite an impression on her with his noble demeanor.
"Yeah, you too?" Hugo asked, looking a bit puzzled.
"Yep, always wanted to check out Velvet City," Susan replied, grinning.
Hugo nodded, then said excitedly, "I can show you around."
Susan couldn't help but laugh. "A noble as my tour guide? Isn't that a bit much?"
Hugo looked confused. "What do you mean?"
Seeing his puzzled expression, Susan chuckled. "I mean, you're a noble, and I'm just a regular person. Seems like overkill to have you as my guide."
Hugo shook his head. "No way, I'd love to show you around. How about you stay at my place, and I'll take you around Velvet City every day?"
"No need, I've already booked a hotel," Susan said, handing him her hotel reservation card.
Hugo shrugged. "Alright then."
Not wanting to chat more, Susan closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.
Hugo, being the gentleman he was, didn't bother her. He'd gently remind her when the flight attendant came by or if she needed a blanket. He was super attentive, and Susan appreciated it.
When they landed, Susan politely turned down Hugo's offer to take her to her hotel and have dinner together. She grabbed her luggage and headed off on her own.
The hotel Susan checked into was great, booked online by Isabella.
It had a killer view of Velvet City and all the amenities. Lying on the bed, Susan quickly drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, Susan woke up early but didn't feel like getting out of bed.
She'd always wanted to explore Velvet City.
But now, she just felt lazy and uninterested, lying there, not wanting to move.
Her mind was on Seb. Tomorrow was his wedding day with Ellie, and they were probably busy with preparations.
After today, Seb would be someone else's husband, and she'd be just a memory.
Susan knew she had to let go, but her heart and mind were still stuck on their time together.
Tears started falling onto her pillow. She hadn't come to Velvet City to relax but to nurse a broken heart.
Just as she was wallowing in her misery, there was a sudden knock on the door.
Susan frowned, not really wanting to answer the door. She thought, 'It's probably just hotel staff with some service. If I ignore it, they'll go away.'
But the knocking didn't stop.
With no other choice, Susan, still in her nightgown, threw on a robe and got out of bed to open the door.
She opened it with a bit of an attitude. "Is this how your hotel treats guests?"
But when she saw who it was, she froze.
Standing there was Hugo, dressed in a sharp silver suit and black tie, holding a bouquet of flowers.
He smiled brightly and handed her the flowers. "Good morning, Susan!"
"Hugo, what are you doing here?" Susan hesitated for a moment, then took the flowers from him.
"You're my friend. Since you're in Velvet City, I thought I'd come see you," Hugo said with a smile.
Susan suddenly remembered showing Hugo her hotel reservation card on the plane. That was how he found her.
"Thank you!" she said, trying to be polite.
Hugo glanced at her nightgown, and Susan felt a bit embarrassed. "Sorry, it's not really convenient to invite you in right now."
Both of them were single, and it felt awkward to be alone together, especially with her in a nightgown.
Susan thought this would make Hugo leave, but he just smiled and said, "Susan, the weather outside is great. Hurry up and get dressed; I'll take you out for a walk!"
She tried to decline. "I'll go out by myself later. No need to trouble you."
But Hugo gently pushed her back into the room. "Take your time getting ready. I know it takes a while. I'll wait for you in the lobby. That's settled!"
With that, he closed the door.
Left alone, Susan felt a bit helpless. She looked down at the flowers in her arms, not feeling particularly happy.
But Hugo was waiting for her in the lobby. She had to be courteous, especially since he had come all this way and brought her flowers.
So, she quickly changed clothes, brushed her hair, and put on some light makeup. She hurried to the lobby, not wanting to keep Hugo waiting too long.
The weather in Velvet City was still a bit chilly, so she wore a woolen suit and a matching hat, looking very elegant and classy.
Isabella had picked out the outfit to lift Susan's spirits.
Sure enough, wearing it made her feel a bit better.
When Susan appeared, Hugo, who was waiting on the couch, was momentarily stunned. He quickly stood up and walked over to her.
"You look beautiful," Hugo said, admiring her.
"Thank you," Susan replied, feeling a bit shy.
"Where should we go for a walk?" she asked, trying to change the subject as Hugo's gaze lingered on her.
