Chapter 1352 Men Have High Self-Esteem
Over the next few days, Cecilia quietly watched Daryl and Thaddeus.
She noticed that they were spending more time together, and gradually, Daryl started making the first move to interact with Thaddeus instead of the other way around.
Sometimes, Daryl would even hug Thaddeus, and Thaddeus clearly loved it, giggling happily in his arms.
Although Cecilia felt a pang of sadness, she was also relieved. She didn't want to see Daryl and Thaddeus remain distant forever.
Sure, Daryl acknowledging Thaddeus as his son was still a long way off, but at least they were starting to bond.
One afternoon, feeling down, Cecilia decided to meet Susan for coffee.
Susan stirred her coffee while gazing at Cecilia. After a moment, she smiled and said, "You look like you have a lot on your mind. Wanna talk about it?"
Cecilia couldn't help but smile. "I knew I couldn't hide it from you."
"What's going on?" Susan asked eagerly.
Cecilia replied, "Daryl and Thaddeus have been getting much closer lately."
"Has he admitted Thaddeus is his son?" Susan asked, surprised.
Cecilia shook her head. "Not yet, but they play together, Daryl hugs Thaddeus, and he even bought Thaddeus a bunch of toys yesterday. He used to barely look at Thaddeus, but now I feel like they're really bonding."
Susan nodded. "That's great! Given time, I think Daryl will acknowledge Thaddeus."
"I want to leave the Fields Mansion," Cecilia suddenly said.
Susan frowned and asked, "Daryl might soon acknowledge Thaddeus, and your misunderstandings could be cleared up. Why would you want to leave now?"
Cecilia gave a bitter smile. "Susan, do you think I'm encouraging Daryl and Thaddeus to bond so Daryl will acknowledge Thaddeus and then reconcile with me?"
"Even if that's not the goal, it would be the best outcome," Susan said, frowning.
Cecilia shook her head. "I'm doing this for Thaddeus, and it will benefit Daryl too. But I won't reconcile with Daryl. We've broken up, and there's no going back."
"But you still love each other. You're both just too stubborn, and Daryl is too proud," Susan said.
Cecilia smiled. "I don't know what he thinks, but I won't love him anymore. I'll try to forget him and start a new life."
"What are your plans?" Susan asked, frowning.
Cecilia replied, "I'll go back to my coffee shop and keep running it. I'll leave Thaddeus at the Fields Mansion for now, but I'll visit him often. When the time is right, I'll bring him to live with me."
Azalea's health is still uncertain, and she wouldn't let Thaddeus go. Cecilia didn't want to be selfish; Azalea is Thaddeus's grandmother. And staying at the Fields Mansion would allow Thaddeus to bond with Daryl. The bond between Daryl and Thaddeus as father and son was an immutable fact that could not be altered.
Susan nodded. "Since you've decided, maybe a temporary separation is good. It'll give Thaddeus and Daryl time to bond, and you can figure out your future."
"I've made up my mind. There's no turning back," Cecilia said firmly.
Susan knew it was pointless to argue, so she didn't.
Suddenly, Cecilia smiled and asked, "By the way, where's Isabella?"
"She's still giving Leon the cold shoulder. She doesn't feel like going anywhere," Susan said with a laugh.
Cecilia frowned. "Really? They're still at it? I thought they'd made up by now. Why is this dragging on so long?"
Susan took a sip of her coffee. "Those two are stubborn. Isabella stormed into Leon's office last time and found his secretary, all dolled up, bringing him coffee. Isabella got mad, spilled the coffee, and said some harsh words, embarrassing Leon in front of his colleagues. Leon couldn't take it, so he snapped at Isabella. She came home crying, and with her temper, she wouldn't forgive him. Leon tried to make up, but Isabella said some harsh words and kicked him out. Now they're both giving each other the silent treatment."
Cecilia frowned. "Isabella's temper is too fiery. Storming into his office like that was disrespectful, but that secretary isn't innocent either. Leon usually spoils Isabella, so what's going on?"
"Men have their pride. Seb said the higher-ups were mocking Leon, calling him henpecked. Leon overheard, and already being angry, he clashed with Isabella. Isabella's anger has cooled, but Leon hasn't come to pick her up or see the kids," Susan said.
"What are they going to do? They can't keep this up forever," Cecilia said anxiously.
Susan smiled mysteriously. "I texted Leon saying his kids weren't feeling well. He loves them so much, I bet he'll be at my house before the workday ends."
Cecilia laughed. "That's a good idea."
After chatting a bit more, Susan said, "I need to get home. If Leon finds out the kids aren't sick, he might start another fight with Isabella."
"You better help them make up," Cecilia said with a smile.
Leaving the coffee shop, Susan hurried home.
As soon as she walked into the foyer, a servant approached and whispered, "Mr. Johnson is here."
Susan smirked. He came quickly.
"Where is he?" Susan asked softly.
"In the living room, playing with the kids," the servant replied.
"And Mrs. Johnson?" Susan glanced toward the living room.
"She's still upstairs. I think she heard Mr. Johnson arrived," the servant guessed.
"I see. You can go now," Susan instructed, then quickly changed her shoes and walked into the living room.
