Chapter 1204 May I Come In?
Daryl understood and said, "The hospital is not as comfortable as home. Mom, let's go home quickly, shall we?"
Azalea smiled and touched Daryl's face. "Of course, I've prepared a lot of delicious food for you. Let's go now."
Then, a driver came in to take Daryl's luggage. As Daryl supported Azalea and they reached the ward door, Azalea suddenly stopped.
"Mom, what's wrong?" Daryl asked with a frown.
Azalea touched her stomach and said, "My stomach feels a bit uncomfortable. I need to use the restroom first!"
After saying that, Azalea turned around and headed to the restroom.
Daryl anxiously glanced at Douglas behind him, and Douglas quickly took a big step forward, blocking the restroom door.
Cecilia, standing in the restroom, was also extremely anxious.
Although Azalea didn't know Cecilia, if she saw a strange girl hiding in his hospital room restroom, she would be suspicious.
"Mrs. Fields, you can't use this restroom!" Douglas said urgently.
Azalea looked at Douglas in confusion and asked, "Douglas, what's wrong with me using the restroom? You're overstepping your bounds, aren't you? Don't forget your place!"
Seeing Azalea getting angry, Daryl was about to speak up for Douglas, but Douglas pointed to the restroom and said, "Mrs. Fields, Mr. Fields felt nauseous earlier and vomited in there. I just notified the nurse, but she hasn't had a chance to clean it up yet. I'm afraid you'll feel sick if you go in."
Azalea immediately shifted her attention and turned to Daryl with concern. "Daryl, did you throw up? Is your stomach upset? Have you seen a doctor?"
Daryl glanced at Douglas and quickly covered his abdomen with his hand. "Mom, I think I ate something bad this morning, so I felt a bit nauseous. But the doctor said it's nothing serious, don't worry."
Azalea turned to Douglas and angrily said, "Douglas, how did you arrange Daryl's breakfast? How could you let him eat something bad? From now on, don't order from that place again, understand?"
"Understood, Mrs. Fields." Douglas glanced at Daryl and quickly lowered his head.
"Mom, Douglas didn't do it on purpose. Let's go home quickly. It'll be much better to eat and relax there." Daryl quickly defended Douglas.
"Yes, yes, let's go home quickly." At this point, Azalea had already forgotten about her earlier plans and pulled Daryl out of the ward.
After hearing them leave, Cecilia finally let out a sigh of relief.
She opened the restroom door and walked out, feeling relieved to see the empty ward.
Then, Cecilia left the ward and saw Daryl and Azalea walking ahead, with Douglas following behind.
Douglas turned around, saw Cecilia, and waved at her repeatedly, signaling her to leave quickly.
Cecilia found it quite amusing, as if her relationship with Daryl was shameful.
After leaving the hospital, Cecilia hailed a cab to go to work.
On the way, Cecilia received a text message from Daryl's phone.
[Cecilia, I'll contact you later. Daryl.]
Staring at the message for a long time, Cecilia finally put away her phone.
What else was there to talk about between them? She thought she had made everything clear to him.
Cecilia touched her lips with her fingertip, which still felt burning.
Sitting at her desk in the magazine office, Cecilia couldn't focus for a long time. Her mind kept replaying Daryl's deep, melancholic eyes and that passionate, suffocating kiss.
Skylar returned to the Tate Mansion in a fit of rage, throwing her bag on the sofa as soon as she entered and then sitting down to sulk.
"What happened?" Charlotte asked, seeing Skylar's anger, and sat down beside her.
"Mom, that woman already has another man, so why is Daryl still so cold to me?" Skylar asked, tears welling up in her eyes.
Charlotte understood what was going on and frowned. "I told you not to come back, but you insisted on traveling so far to see Daryl. And what happened? You got ignored again."
"Mom, can you stop saying that?" Skylar said irritably.
"Alright, alright, I won't say it. I just feel sorry for you." Charlotte said, frowning as she stroked Skylar's hair.
Skylar cried in Charlotte's arms, but her eyes remained determined. "Anyway, I won't give up. I don't believe Daryl can think about Cecilia for the rest of his life!"
Charlotte sighed helplessly.
That evening, Barry had a social engagement, so he didn't come to have dinner with Cecilia.
Cecilia was relieved because she wasn't in a good state and didn't want Barry to notice.
Cecilia went home alone, cooked a bowl of pasta, ate a little, and then sat on the sofa in a daze. The TV was on in the living room, but Cecilia's eyes were blankly staring at the show without watching it.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
Cecilia looked up at the clock on the wall; it was already half past eight. She guessed Barry had finished his engagement and came to check on her.
Cecilia suddenly didn't want to interact with Barry because she knew her heart had already flown to someone else. Maybe she needed some time to calm her feelings.
However, the doorbell was ringing, and she should open the door for Barry.
So, Cecilia put on her slippers, walked to the door, and opened it.
When the door opened, Cecilia was stunned to see who was standing outside.
Because it wasn't Barry standing there, but Daryl, wearing a white shirt.
"What are you doing here?" Cecilia asked in surprise after a long pause.
Daryl's eyes were fixed on Cecilia in her pajamas, and he asked in a deep voice, "Can I come in?"
Cecilia didn't answer but took two steps back.
Taking this as a tacit approval, Daryl stepped in and closed the door behind him.
In the living room, only a wall lamp was on, and with the light from the TV, the room was dimly lit.
Cecilia's eyes met Daryl's, and their gazes intertwined, neither willing to look away.
Cecilia clutched the hem of her nightgown, feeling her heart race.
Daryl's eyes burned with intensity. Suddenly, he took a step forward, wrapped his long arms around Cecilia, and pulled her into his embrace!
