Chapter 616 Anger
"Have you been with George for a long time?" Seb stared at Susan and asked.
Susan neither admitted nor denied it. She turned her face away to look out the window, clearly not wanting to explain anything.
At this moment, Seb lost his patience.
He then stepped forward, grabbed Susan's shoulders, and shook her, saying, "Speak up! We've been divorced for over two months. How long have you been pregnant? You can't hide an ectopic pregnancy past three months; even I know that."
Susan, already a bit anemic and dizzy, felt even more lightheaded from Seb's shaking. However, she didn't frown at all. Instead, she looked up and said, "Let me remind you again, we are already divorced. I don't need to explain so much to you, do I?"
Hearing this, Seb's grip on Susan's shoulders tightened.
He clearly used some force, but he didn't even realize it himself. Poor Susan, after a slight frown, endured it resolutely.
"Are you saying that the child you miscarried was George's?" Seb had lost all rationality at this point. He couldn't think calmly or analyze the situation; jealousy and heartbreak clouded his mind.
Susan saw that Seb's gaze was terrifying, his eyes red.
But she couldn't bring herself to explain. Not now. If she told him the truth, it would only trap him in a cage of guilt.
He had already followed Carol's last wish and divorced her. Now that she was hospitalized due to an ectopic pregnancy, he would surely feel guilty towards her. Susan didn't want to see him sad.
"Why won't you answer me? Is it true? Or are you too ashamed to speak?" Seeing Susan remain silent, Seb gritted his teeth and questioned her.
"Seb, I did nothing to betray you during our marriage," Susan said, looking at him.
This statement was hard for Seb to accept. "What do you mean by that? Are you saying that after our divorce, you and George..."
Seb didn't have the courage to continue.
At this moment, the door to the ward was knocked on!
Susan's eyes met Seb's for a second, then she pushed him away. Seb took a step back.
"Come in," Susan called towards the door.
Then, the door to the ward opened.
The nurse from earlier walked in with a smile, holding a stack of papers. "Mr. Anderson left? Oh, you have a visitor? Mrs. Anderson, here are your test results. There's nothing major; take a look yourself."
"Thank you," Susan said expressionlessly, reaching out to take the test results from the nurse.
"I'll be going then," the nurse said, turning to leave.
Seb blocked her way. "Wait. How did you know that man was her husband?"
Hearing this, the nurse turned to look at Seb, and for a moment, she was stunned.
Seb was tall and handsome, with an innate nobility and charm. Especially in the past two years, as he aged, he had gained a touch of mature allure. Few women could resist his charm.
After a moment of being stunned, the nurse replied, "He brought this lady to the hospital in a hurry. He signed the surgery consent form and has been taking care of her. If he wasn't her husband, then who would he be?"
This question left Seb speechless, unable to respond.
The nurse nodded and then turned to leave.
Seb snatched the test results from Susan's hand and flipped through them, his brows furrowing together!
He then held up the pregnancy test report in front of Susan and questioned, "This says you're nine weeks pregnant. We've been divorced for ten weeks. How do you explain that?"
Susan stared at the test report for two seconds, then looked up to meet Seb's angry eyes and said coldly, "I got pregnant a week after our divorce. It's reasonable. I don't understand what I need to explain to you."
This statement made Seb furious. He crumpled the test report into a ball, his eyes filled with cold light. "Just a week after leaving me, you got pregnant with another man's child, and you still have the nerve to be so righteous? Don't you have any shame?"
Susan sneered, "I have nothing to be ashamed of. If I'd found someone else the day after our divorce, that would be one thing. But I was free to move on, Seb. And so was I."
"Shameless! Despicable!" Seb couldn't tolerate Susan's words. After shouting twice, he threw the crumpled paper ball against the wall.
The paper ball hit the hard wall and then bounced onto the floor.
At this moment, Susan's heart ached terribly, especially seeing Seb in such pain and anger.
If he wanted to misunderstand, let him. It would save them both from future pain and sorrow.
Seeing Susan's cold expression, Seb took two steps back, then looked at her with disgust before turning and slamming the door as he left!
The door slammed loudly, and Susan's tears flowed instantly.
To be honest, after entangling with Seb for so many years, she felt both happy and tired.
Especially recently, although she deliberately avoided meeting him, she still longed to see him. But seeing him only made them both more miserable, creating a vicious cycle.
So today, Susan didn't explain anything to Seb, deliberately allowing him to confirm his doubts.
Susan knew that the one thing Seb couldn't forgive was her betrayal. Let him misunderstand. Maybe when he found someone else, she could finally let go.
After a long time, Susan wiped her tears and worried about Seb. Would he stay angry for long? He would definitely smoke a lot and not eat on time.
At this moment, the door to the ward opened.
Then, a man in a pair of black leather shoes stepped in.
"Are you okay?"
A male voice sounded in her ear. Susan looked up, and sure enough, it was George.
"You didn't leave?" she asked, surprised.
"I..." George was momentarily speechless.
Susan knew he hadn't left. She sighed inwardly and said, "Can you help me with the discharge procedures?"
