Chapter 960 I Love You and The Kid
Upon hearing this, Alfonso chuckled and said, "Just messing with you. You barely crack a smile these days."
Isabella forced a grin and explained, "Nah, it's just that moving around is a hassle now, so it messes with my mood. All the books say pregnant women can get down."
"That's why you gotta get out more to keep your spirits up," Alfonso said, helping Isabella through the black wrought-iron gate.
At that moment, Leon turned and walked to the gate, watching Alfonso and Isabella disappear in front of the villa.
He leaned against the wall, pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his suit, lit one up, and smoked irritably.
Alfonso helped Isabella sit on the couch, then poured a glass of warm water and handed it to her. "You've been moving around for over an hour, have some water."
"Thanks." Isabella took the glass and drank half of it.
Alfonso took the glass from her hand, placed it on the coffee table, and smiled. "You rest for a bit. Looks like Kathy's back and probably tidying up upstairs. I'll head out now."
"Okay." Isabella nodded.
"I'll come to pick you up for a walk at four tomorrow afternoon," Alfonso said with a smile.
"Alright." Isabella smiled slightly.
Then, Alfonso's figure disappeared at the entrance.
After Alfonso left, the smile on Isabella's face slowly faded.
Alfonso had come to Northstar City a month ago for some academic training and was supposed to stay for three months.
A month ago, Alfonso showed up with a big suitcase full of hometown goodies that Isabella had been craving.
Since then, Alfonso visited her every day, eventually taking her for walks every afternoon.
Isabella didn't have many friends here, just Cecilia, who couldn't be with her every day. So she felt lonely and isolated, luckily with Kathy to take care of her. Otherwise, she wouldn't know how to pass the time.
Alfonso was incredibly attentive, always by her side, worried that her pregnant belly might cause an accident. Isabella was seven months along, and her belly was big and round. She felt the baby's movements every day and had already formed a deep connection with it.
Seeing Alfonso come out of the villa, Leon tossed the cigarette butt and crushed it under his foot.
Then, Leon quickly walked into the villa.
Isabella leaned on the couch, her hand on her swollen belly, her brows slightly furrowed, but with a happy smile on her face as she felt the baby's movements.
Isabella couldn't help but exclaim.
At that moment, Kathy hurried down from upstairs and asked nervously, "Ms. Brown, what's wrong?"
"The baby kicked me!" Isabella replied with a twisted face.
"It must be a boy, so naughty!" Kathy laughed.
At that moment, Isabella looked up and saw a tall figure standing at the entrance.
Seeing that familiar yet long-missed face, Isabella's back stiffened, her heart pounded, and even the baby in her belly became restless.
Leon stared intently at Isabella, his gaze moving from her face to her swollen belly. When she mentioned the baby kicking, his stern face couldn't hide the excitement in his eyes.
"Mr. Johnson, you and Ms. Brown have a good talk. I'll go prepare dinner." Sensing the tension between Leon and Isabella, Kathy quickly and sensibly ran to the kitchen.
After Kathy left, Leon walked step by step towards Isabella.
As he got closer, Isabella's heart raced, her hands instinctively covering her belly, and she tried to stand up.
She would never forget the day he forced her to a private clinic for an abortion. Afraid he was here to harm the baby again, Isabella was extremely nervous.
Sensing Isabella's panic, Leon immediately squatted in front of her and said softly, "Isabella, don't be nervous. I will never hurt you or the baby!"
Hearing this, Isabella felt slightly relieved but stayed on guard, coldly asking, "What are you doing in Northstar City? I'm telling you, if you try to force me to have an abortion, I won't live either without my baby!"
Isabella expressed her determination to live and die with the baby, hoping Leon would back off.
Seeing Isabella's nervous and fearful look, Leon frowned deeply and reassured her, "Isabella, I came specifically to see you and the baby. I took a long leave and will stay with you until you give birth."
Hearing this, Isabella stared at Leon in disbelief, feeling puzzled about his change of heart.
Seeing Isabella's puzzled look, Leon smiled slightly. "Why are you looking at me like that? I'm telling the truth."
The next moment, Isabella squinted her eyes and said warily, "Leon, do you want to take my baby away? Listen to me, this baby is mine and has nothing to do with you. Don't even think about taking my baby away. As long as I'm alive, this baby stays with me!"
Seeing Isabella's agitated state, Leon frowned tightly. "Isabella, calm down. I have no intention of taking your baby. I am the baby's father. This baby belongs to both of us, and I want to raise him with you."
After saying this, Leon urgently took out a small velvet box from his pocket, opened it, and held it in front of Isabella, kneeling on one knee. He said earnestly, "Isabella, marry me. Let's be a family of three forever!"
Isabella's eyes lingered on the dazzling diamond ring in the velvet box for a second.
Then, she supported her waist with one hand, slowly stood up from the couch, and looked down coldly at Leon. She sneered, "Mr. Johnson, you're quite generous. This diamond ring must be at least three carats, right? Do you think you can make me happily agree to marry you with this big diamond ring?"
"Isabella, I'm serious. I love you and the baby." Hearing the sarcasm in Isabella's tone, Leon frowned.
Upon hearing this, Isabella became even more furious. She stepped forward and knocked the velvet box out of Leon's hand.
